‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' Set For China Release On May 30 As Trade Tensions Ease

Yahoo16-05-2025

Paramount Pictures' Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which premiered here in Cannes on Wednesday, has been cleared for a May 30 release in China.
The film has passed censorship and been dated despite the China Film Administration's recent announcement that it would 'moderately reduce' the number of U.S. films imported into the country in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's 145% tariffs on Chinese goods.

However, the U.S. and China recently agreed to cancel some of the tariffs they'd imposed on each other after Trump's escalation, and pause others for 90 days, following talks between the two nations in Geneva.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is being released in China just one week after its North America release on May 23 through Paramount.
Disney's Thunderbolts* is currently on release in China and since the announcement of the 'moderate reduction' three other US studio titles have been dated – The Accountant 2 (May 16), Lilo & Stitch (May 23) and How To Train Your Dragon (June 13).
Other foreign films scheduled for release in China in coming weeks include Brazilian Best International Feature Oscar winner, I'm Still Here, which is opening today, and the re-release of Japanese filmmamker Shunji Iwai's 1995 Love Letter, which is scheduled for May 20.

Todd Chrisley, Julie Chrisley Detail Reunion After 28 Months in Prison

Originally appeared on E! Online Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley found strength in one another. The couple reflected on meeting for the first time in 28 months after being pardoned by President Donald Trump amid their respective prison sentences. 'It was surreal,' Julie explained on a clip from the June 28 episode of My View With Lara Trump. 'People have asked, 'Was it weird? Was it awkward?' It really wasn't.' Todd didn't feel so far from his wife of 28 years, despite serving his 12-year sentence in Florida while Julie was serving her seven-year sentence in Kentucky. 'I was never away from her because she was in my spirit the entire time,' he explained to Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump. 'I thought of her every second of my day. So, when I hugged her the first time, it was like I was home.' 'It was not like I had been missing,' he continued. 'I knew I was coming home to the same woman that I left. Now, when I say the same, I'm talking about in my heart spiritually.' More from E! He added, 'We have changed, and if we did not change in these 28 months, it would have been wasted.' As the patriarch begins a new chapter with his family, he's still standing by his innocence. After all, he vehemently denied committing tax evasion and wire fraud, which he and Julie were convicted of in 2022. 'I would have remorse if it was something that I did,' Todd said during a May press conference. 'The corruption that went on in our case is going to continue to unfold.' E! News reached out to the Department of Justice at the time of the press conference, but the agency declined to comment. While Todd continues to emphasize his innocence, he knows it was Savannah's advocacy that ultimately led to their release. "She has fought a long fight, and for any parent to see their child fight this hard, it's a double-edged sword,' he said at the podium. 'It's a blessing, and then your heart breaks because your child has been placed in that position to fight for you, when, as a parent, you're supposed to fight for your children." Rihanna Puts a Chic Twist on Menswear in a Pistachio-Green Maternity Look at the Dior Show

THE RUNDOWN Rihanna and A$AP Rocky matched in cool tones at Jonathan Anderson's first Dior menswear show in Paris. Rihanna incorporated one of this season's trendiest colors, pistachio green, into her look. This marks the couple's first big appearance since they attended the Cannes Film Festival last month. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky brought their star power to Jonathan Anderson's first Dior menswear show in Paris today. The couple coordinated their looks, with Rihanna standing out in a white top, pistachio-green vest (one of the season's trendiest colors), gray slacks, and a long quilted jacket. The star and brand ambassador, who is expecting her third child with Rocky, wore her hair up and accessorized with sunglasses. Rocky, meanwhile, complemented her in a pastel-blue button-up top and a striped tie. This marks the couple's biggest joint appearance since they attended the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Rocky's film Highest 2 Lowest last month: Rihanna and Rocky announced they were expecting at the 2025 Met Gala, which Rocky co-chaired. Rihanna spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her pregnancy on the red carpet, saying, 'I'm good. I'm shockingly feeling okay and not too overwhelmed at the moment. I mean, at first, it was kind of like, 'Ahhh.'' The couple has two sons: 3-year-old RZA and 1-year-old Riot, who will turn two on August 1. Rihanna discussed her kids' personalities in a Harper's Bazaar interview earlier this year. 'RZA is just an empath,' she said. 'He's so magical. He loves music. He loves melody. He loves books. He loves water. Bath time, swimming, pool, beach, anything. And Riot, he's just hilarious. When he wakes up, he starts to squeal, scream. Not in a crying way. He just wants to sing. And I'm like, 'Okay, here we go!' He's my alarm in the morning! He's not taking no for an answer from anyone. I don't know where he came from, dude,' she joked. Rod Stewart says country should ‘give Farage a chance'

Sir Rod Stewart has called on Britain to 'give Nigel Farage a chance' as he revealed how close he came to pulling out of his Glastonbury appearance. The 80-year-old singer backed the Reform UK leader ahead of appearing in the festival's afternoon legends slot on Sunday, 23 years after he headlined the Pyramid Stage. 'I've read about (Sir Keir) Starmer cutting off the fishing in Scotland and giving it back to the EU. That hasn't made him popular,' he told The Times. 'We're fed up with the Tories. We've got to give Farage a chance. He's coming across well. Nigel? What options have we got? 'Starmer's all about getting us out of Brexit and I don't know how he's going to do that. Still, the country will survive. It could be worse. We could be in the Gaza Strip.' Admitting his wealth ensures 'a lot of it doesn't really touch me', he insisted he is not out of touch and expressed his support for Ukraine – criticising US President Donald Trump and Vice-President JD Vance for their treatment of Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky on his visit to the White House – and Gaza. 'It's depressing, what's going on in the Gaza Strip,' he said. 'Netanyahu doesn't realise that this is what happened to his people under the Nazis: total annihilation. And Trump is going to turn the Gaza Strip into Miami?' Stewart said a prolonged bout of flu, which forced him to cancel five shows in the US, nearly forced him to withdraw from a Glastonbury appearance he described to ITV as his 'World Cup final'. 'This time last week I was thinking of cancelling,' he told The Sun, crediting his wife Penny Lancaster with nursing him back to health. 'I have had Influenza A. It's been so terrible. It's the worst thing anyone could possibly have, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. 'Apart from (Vladimir) Putin. I'd wish it on him.' Stewart told The Sun he had negotiated an extra quarter of an hour on top of the allotted 75 minutes for his set. He confirmed he will be joined at Glastonbury by former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood, Simply Red's Mick Hucknall and Lulu, as well as performing the song Powderfinger by Saturday headliner Neil Young.
