Genoa Midfielder Identified As Prime Target Should Inter Milan Cash In On Turkiye International

Yahooa day ago
Inter Milan have begun preparing for the possibility that they may lose midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, with Genoa's Morten Frendrup sounded out as a replacement.
As reported in today's newspaper edition of Tuttosport, and via FCInterNews.it, the Nerazzurri could cash in on Calhanoglu, with Fenerbahce waiting in the wings to complete a deal for the Turkish international.
Whilst Inter are waiting to determine Calhanoglu's plans, they are determined not to be left scrambling for a replacement and have already begun work on securing a deal for Frendrup.
The Norway international would represent an affordable alternative to Calhanoglu, with the 24-year-old enjoying two positive seasons in Serie A with the Grifone.
Indeed, the former Brondby player has proven himself to be a reliable figure at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, having only missed four games across two seasons.
Frendrup helped Genoa finish comfortably in 13th place last season and Inter could step up their interest should Calhanoglu depart.

France football boss backs coach despite 'cruel' Women's Euros elimination

French Football Federation (FFF) president Philippe Diallo told AFP on Monday he was backing women's coach Laurent Bonadei despite the "cruel disappointment" of France being knocked out at the quarter-final stage of Euro 2025. Les Bleues lost on penalties to a Germany side who played with 10 women for almost all of a gruelling encounter which finished 1-1 after extra-time. But for Diallo there's no question of sacking Bonadei. "After the Olympics, we put our faith in Laurent until the World Cup (in 2027) with the aim of helping this team make the transition from one generation to the next," said Diallo. "With 11 consecutive wins and a successful group stage (at the Euros), there are positive things to remember. But with a lot of humility, we have to get back to work, and that will be with Laurent Bonadei," he added. However, the federation president made no attempt to play down the heartbreak of failing to progress past the quarter-finals despite being a goal and a player up in normal time. Diallo described the loss to Germany as "a cruel disappointment", adding "everything had been put in place for this team to go much further in the tournament". "It's a real setback, the eighth time in the last nine major tournaments that France have been eliminated at the quarters," he added. "We're going to have to think with the coach and those in charge of women's football at the FFF about how we can work better." Bonadei did not include former captain Wendie Renard and vastly experienced forward Eugenie Le Sommer in his squad. In the group phase, France beat reigning champions England 2-1 in their opening match before thrashing Wales 4-1 and outclassing the Netherlands 5-2. ali/ig/lle/nf/

Watch: New Barcelona signing continues to impress in pre-season training

La Liga giants Barcelona have unveiled a fresh round of footage of new signing Joan García in action in training. And the footage, as has proven the case since his arrival, is of an altogether impressive nature. Goalkeeper Joan is for his part of course fresh off taking the biggest step of his career to date. Following a dazzling campaign between the posts at Espanyol, the 24-year-old blocked out the outside noise, to put pen to paper on terms with Catalan rivals Barcelona. Joan is expected to slot straight in as the Blaugrana's new no.1 for next season, usurping both Wojciech Szczęsny, and Marc-André ter Stegen. And as alluded to above, his exploits at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper over the last 24 hours have continued to turn heads. This comes with Joan having conjured up another round of stellar saves during a training drill, as showcased across Barcelona's social media platforms: Conor Laird – GSFN

Report – Fenerbahce Ready To Meet Inter Milan Asking Price For Standout Midfielder

Turkish giants Fenerbahce are reportedly willing to spend big to lure Hakan Calhanoglu away from Inter Milan. According to La Repubblica via FCInter1908, the Canaries are planning to submit a €30 million bid for the star midfielder. In contrast to recent reports, Fenerbahce could pay Inter's asking price in full. Indeed, earlier indications suggested Jose Mourinho's side would only offer up to €20m. However, after reportedly agreeing on personal terms with the player, they're ready to lift their offer. Fenerbahce Willing to Pay €30m for Inter Milan Stalwart Hakan Calhanoglu Hakan Calhanoglu has allegedly promised to join Fenerbahce. Indeed, he made that pledge during a phone call with club president Ali Koc. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce's bitter rivals Galatasaray have reignited their interest in the 31-year-old. However, Calhanoglu's desire to work with Mourinho puts the Canaries in pole position. For now, they must agree terms with the playmaker. That should not be an issue, considering they're ready to offer him €6m net per season plus bonuses.
