Aussies, though currently seeming to be in a good position, can't relax, as we have seen wickets falling in clusters in this game. It will be interesting to see what is in store for us, as we will be back for the post-Lunch session at 5.10 PM GMT.
22:08 IST:For WI the only positive in the session was that they kept the run flow in control and didn't allow the Aussie batters to run away with the lead. The WI pacers, though, stayed away from the stumps for a lot of deliveries, which didn't help their cause, and now with the ball having gotten older, it might be hard work for the bowlers in the 2nd session. We haven't seen any signs of spin till now, and West Indies will definitely be bowling it at some point in the next session. The 2nd session on both days has been contrasting in the sense that AUS on the first day did well with the bat, whereas WI didn't find it easy on Day 2.
22:13 IST:SESSION SUMMARY - 57 Runs, 21 Overs, 1 Wicket. That will be Lunch on Day 3, and Aussies will feel they have won this rain-marred session, as they have managed to lose only one wicket in the session, which was of the nightwatchman, Nathan Lyon. Green is probably playing his best knock in this series, having grinded it out in the middle. On the other hand, Smith is now getting into the zone, having gotten a start. Their partnership is now worth 41 and has started to look dangerous.
22:45 IST:Game stopped due to : Rain Stoppage

Jayden Seales to start proceedings with the ball. Let's play...
19:35 IST:PITCH REPORT - Darren Ganga is pitchside. He says there has been some overnight rain, and the current weather is a little overcast, nice and cool. He mentions that there are footmarks on both sides of the pitch, and he believes that the ball will continue dominating the bat. He adds that yesterday there was evidence of pitch deterioration, with many deliveries staying low. He also tells how spin could be crucial going ahead in the game, as Lyon in particular did get some purchase from the wicket yesterday.
19:25 IST:Anderson Phillip of West Indies also shares a few words. He says that the last Test he played was in Australia, and he had to leave that due to injury, but he is happy to be back in the side now. Adds that now he has a lot of games under his belt and has gained more experience. Praises the Windies pacers and says that they have executed the plans excellently against a top side and will look to continue to work on that to bowl them out to a low total. Mentions that, along with the bowling, he has also put in the hard work with the bat and wants to contribute in both facets of the game.

On two wickets for him and how the surface is, he says that he is excited about the 4th innings, and firstly, he hopes they have a good time with the bat. On being asked about what his teammates feel about his batting, he says Smith wanted him to retire hurt and wanted to come out to bat, but he personally feels he is a good batter, and he is always ready to give it a crack.
19:13 IST:Now talking about what might be in store for us on Day 3, well, the wicket has worsened, and with the ball still being new, the first hour will be mighty challenging for the Aussie batters. From the West Indies point of view, it will be an opportunity for them to trigger a collapse and ensure that they chase as low a total as possible. The pitch is already playing upside down, in addition to that, it has also started to turn, and hence, anything over 150 won't be easy to chase on this wicket. The forecast for today does have some rain on the radar, and one would hope the rain gods stay away for as long as possible. Stay tuned as the action is not far away.
18:48 IST:Aussie pacers were, as always, accurate with their lines and lengths, but they will rue the fact that they allowed the WI tail to wag. The West Indies were 174/7 at one point, and it seemed like Australia would get a material first innings lead. But thanks to the two Josephs, who stitched together a 51-run stand, as eventually the West Indies got bowled out for a total of 253. The contribution from the West Indies bottom five was crucial not only from a point of view of runs, but also because it ensured that Australia got to bat for a nervous six-over period at the fag end of Day 2. West Indies pacers made merry with the new ball as they sent the two Australia openers in quick succession, as Australia ended the day with a lead of 45 and two wickets down.
18:44 IST:Hello and welcome to the 'Moving Day' of this Test. Yes, you guessed it right. We are up and getting ready for Day 3 of the 2nd Test between Australia and West Indies. This game has been moving on a pendulum, where the momentum has been shifting to and fro between both teams. Day 2 started with the West Indies' response as the home side batted positively in the 1st session, albeit losing three wickets. Campbell batted well for his 40. Brandon King showed application at the crease, as he stitched two crucial stands, first with Chase and then with Shai Hope. He eventually got out on 75.
18:30 IST:... DAY 3, SESSION 1 ...
03:16 IST:And that wraps up a thrilling Day 2 of this 2nd Test! All eyes now turn to Day 3, famously known as 'Moving Day', where the match can swing dramatically in either direction. With both Australia and West Indies looking to land the decisive blow, things are perfectly balanced and set up for another gripping day of action. The first ball will be bowled at 2 pm GMT, but do join us earlier for all the pre-match build-up. Until then, cheers!
03:20 IST:Floyd Reifer, the batting consultant of West Indies is up for a quick chat. He says that at the beginning of the day, he would have wanted a score over 300 and take a lead of about 50 runs, but he still heaps praises on the batters as he says all batters did well, and everyone chipped in from the top order to the tail enders. On what he is working on with the batters, he mentions that it's a fairly new batting line up with the likes of John Campbell, Chase, who have been away for quite a bit, and adds that Brandon King is in his debut series. So he feels, these batters need to be given time to get used to Test cricket. On Brandon King's knock, he says King tried to score off full and short balls and showed good defense as well. Ends by saying that the wicket will deteriorate, and hence he feels something around 200-220 can be chasable in the last innings.
03:22 IST:West Indies dominated the final session, first with a vital 51-run eighth-wicket stand between Shamar and Alzarri Joseph, followed by 16 more for the last wicket to trim the deficit to just 33 runs. With momentum on their side, they came out firing with the ball as Jayden Seales delivered a fiery spell, removing both Australian openers in quick time to swing the contest back into balance. Cameron Green and nightwatchman Nathan Lyon managed to survive the tense final overs, ensuring Australia ended the day without further damage.
03:06 IST:The hosts couldn't carry their momentum into the second session, as Australia's bowlers came out firing and immediately put them on the back foot. Josh Hazlewood struck early once again, breaking the promising partnership right at the start. While Brandon King and Shai Hope briefly revived the innings with a solid stand, with King also reaching a well-deserved half-century, Australia quickly regained control. Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon combined to deliver crucial blows, sharing three key wickets between them and reducing West Indies to 174/7.
03:05 IST:West Indies began the day positively with the bat and, much like Australia on Day 1, managed to keep the scoreboard ticking despite losing a few wickets. John Campbell once again couldn't make his start count, falling in the 40s for the sixth time in his Test career, leaving the visitors in a spot of bother at 64/3. But Brandon King and Roston Chase then dug in, displaying solid application and composure to steady the ship. Their partnership carried West Indies safely to Lunch without further damage, while also pushing the total past the 100-run mark.
03:04 IST:SESSION SUMMARY - 80 runs and 5 wickets in 27.2 overs! If Day 1 was full of drama, Day 2 has taken things up a notch! This is the beauty of Test cricket. When both sides go toe-to-toe, the contest becomes all the more compelling. Australia had West Indies on the ropes more than once, but the hosts showed great resilience to claw their way back. Heading into Day 3, they'll be on the happier side, having reduced the Aussies to an effective lead of just 45 with two wickets already down.
03:01 IST:5.6: Alzarri Joseph to Cameron Green, Alzarri Joseph delivers this from wide of the crease and lands it on a length. The ball seams in. The line is outside off. Cameron Green watches it carefully as he leaves it alone. THAT WILL BE STUMPS ON DAY 2!
03:00 IST:Halt! Nathan Lyon looks in a bit of pain after getting hit on his shoulder, and the physio is in to check on him. This will eat up a few minutes, and maybe the West Indies won't get another over in. After a bit of treatment, he is ready to go again.
03:00 IST:5.5: Alzarri Joseph to Nathan Lyon, THAT MUST HAVE HURT! Short and on off, Lyon tries to move out of the way but is not successful at that as the ball hits him on the left arm. Batters run a leg bye. Nathan Lyon has immediately called for the physio. Hmmm, Lyon maybe wants to make this the last over of the day.
03:00 IST:West Indies will be hoping for another breakthrough before Stumps, and then they will be right on top of this game.
02:56 IST:5.4: Alzarri Joseph to Nathan Lyon, Full on middle, Lyon plays the on drive. The ball goes rolling along the turn near the boundary and stops. Carty at forward short leg runs behind the ball and cuts it off. Two runs taken.
02:55 IST:5.3: Alzarri Joseph to Nathan Lyon, Back-of-a-length delivery, outside off, shaping away from the right-hander, Lyon plays the line as the ball beats his outside edge by a long margin.
02:55 IST:5.2: Alzarri Joseph to Nathan Lyon, On a length on middle, Lyon works it on the bounce to forward short leg who is standing two steps behind the normal position.
02:54 IST:5.1: Alzarri Joseph to Nathan Lyon, Length ball that shapes away outside off. Lyon doesn't offer a shot.
02:53 IST:Alzarri Joseph will get a go before Stumps here.
02:53 IST:4.6: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, Angling in on a fuller length, on middle. Green defends it off the front foot.
02:52 IST:4.5: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, Back of a length again, outside off. Green does well to get on the top of the bounce as he pushes it towards point.
02:51 IST:4.4: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, Short of a length, outside off. Green leaves it alone.
02:51 IST:4.3: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, FOUR! Ahh, a nice little gift for Cameron Green! Length ball on leg, Green tickles it fine as the ball goes rolling along the ground to the deep fine leg fence.
02:50 IST:4.2: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, UNPLAYABLE! Fuller ball that angled in and then straightened after pitching, Green does well to play the line as the ball whizzes past his outside edge.
02:49 IST:4.1: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, Full on middle, moving away, Green pushes at it and gets a leading edge that goes into the off side.
02:49 IST:3.6: Shamar Joseph to Nathan Lyon, BEATEN! Back of a length outside off, Lyon has a poke at it as the ball shapes away and beats the outside edge.
02:48 IST:3.5: Shamar Joseph to Cameron Green, Length ball well outside off, Green pushes it wide of point and calls for a single.
02:47 IST:3.4: Shamar Joseph to Cameron Green, Good-length ball, outside off. Green initially presses a bit at the ball, but then withdraws his thought as he leaves it alone. Whoa! That one went rolling along the carpet to the wicket-keeper.
02:46 IST:3.3: Shamar Joseph to Cameron Green, Back of a length on off, Green gets right behind the line of this delivery and blocks it.
02:46 IST:3.2: Shamar Joseph to Cameron Green, Short of a length and outside off. Green leaves it alone.
02:45 IST:3.1: Shamar Joseph to Cameron Green, Back of a length again, this time on middle, some extra bounce on offer. Green looks to defend it and misses. as the ball hits him on the thigh pad.
02:44 IST:2.6: Jayden Seales to Nathan Lyon, back of a length, outside off, moving away. Nathan Lyon leaves it alone.
02:43 IST:Nathan Lyon comes out to the middle. He will act as the nightwatchman and try to see it off to the end of the day.
02:44 IST:2.5: Jayden Seales to Usman Khawaja, OUT! LBW! THATS AS PLUMB AS IT GETS! Jayden Seales doesn't even bother looking back as he is on a celebratory run. More of a celebrappeal from Stuart Broad's books! This is a full ball that nips back in sharply and stays low too. Khawaja is undone by the movement and the bounce as he fails to bring his bat down in time. The umpire's finger goes up after a moment. Khawaja consults his partner, and with three seconds to go, he signals 'T' to the umpire. Nothing on UltraEdge as the ball passes close to the bat. Ball Tracking coming up. Pitching outside off, impact in line, and wickets hitting. Three reds, and Khawaja has to go. He got out in pretty much a similar way in the 1st innings. Both the Aussie openers are gone now!
02:42 IST:Is that out? West Indies are looking very confident about this LBW decision, and the umpire thinks so as well. However, after a long discussion with Cameron Green, Usman Khawaja goes for the review but does not look very sure about it. UltraEdge confirms no bat involved, and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Plumb!
02:39 IST:2.4: Jayden Seales to Usman Khawaja, Back of a length sliding down leg, Usman Khawaja doesn't bother offering a shot to that ball.
02:39 IST:2.3: Jayden Seales to Usman Khawaja, Angled in on middle, Khawaja looks to work it into the leg side and misses, as the ball hits his pad and lobs up in the air, behind the stumps. The keeper collects it on two bounces.
02:38 IST:2.2: Jayden Seales to Usman Khawaja, Full and outside off. Left alone.
02:38 IST:2.1: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, Back of a length on the body, Green tucks it wide of short mid-wicket for a single.
02:37 IST:1.6: Shamar Joseph to Usman Khawaja, On a length, outside off, Khawaja blocks it off the crease.
02:37 IST:1.5: Shamar Joseph to Usman Khawaja, Length ball outside off, Usman Khawaja leaves it alone. Again the ball sharply bounces off a length and goes at chest height to the keeper.
02:37 IST:1.4: Shamar Joseph to Usman Khawaja, Length on middle leg, Khawaja flicks it behind square wide of deep fine leg for two runs.
02:35 IST:1.4: Shamar Joseph to Usman Khawaja, Length ball sliding down leg, Khawaja leaves it alone, Keeper manages to get his right hand to it and makes the stop. Oh, Shamar has overstepped. NO BALL!
02:34 IST:1.3: Shamar Joseph to Usman Khawaja, Back of a length and outside off, shaping away. Left alone. Wow, that one carries at chest height to the keeper.
02:33 IST:1.2: Shamar Joseph to Usman Khawaja, Oh, almost another one! Length ball that seams in a bit and stays very low, almost at shin height. Khawaja doesn't get his bat down in time as the ball sneaks under his bat. That was also very close to the off stump. The ball eventually goes rolling along the ground to the keeper, who somehow manages to stop the ball.
02:34 IST:1.1: Shamar Joseph to Usman Khawaja, Length ball just outside off, Khawaja defends it off the crease.
02:32 IST:Shamar Joseph will bowl from the other end.
02:34 IST:0.6: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, Full and outside off, Green leaves it alone.
02:34 IST:0.5: Jayden Seales to Cameron Green, OH HELLO! WELCOME, Cameron Green! That is one heck of a ball! Back-of-a-length ball that rises sharply. The line is around off. Green looks to get out of the way, but the ball takes the shoulder of his bat and goes on the bounce to second slip.
02:29 IST:Cameron Green walks out to bat at number 3.
02:34 IST:0.4: Jayden Seales to Sam Konstas, OUT! BOWLED! CHOPPED ON! Sam Konstas goes for a duck! Harmless length ball well outside off, that sticks in the surface and comes slower on the bat. Konstas throws his bat at it and gets an inside edge that chops onto hit the top of off. Konstas is very disappointed with himself and trudges back to the hut. Early blow for the Aussies!
02:29 IST:0.3: Jayden Seales to Sam Konstas, Full, outside off, swinging into the right-hander. Left alone.
02:27 IST:0.2: Jayden Seales to Sam Konstas, A touch full and shaping away, Konstas leaves it alone. Oh, that one almost rolls down at knee height to the keeper.
02:27 IST:0.1: Jayden Seales to Sam Konstas, On a length on off, Konstas blocks it to short cover.

ENG vs IND, 2nd Test Day 5: Ball-by-ball updates from Edgbaston
16:53 IST:UPDATE - Hurrah! The covers are being peeled off now as the rain has completely stopped. And we also have a start time. The first ball of Day 5 will be bowled at 5.10 pm IST (11.40 am GMT). 16:48 IST:UPDATE - 4.47 pm IST (11.17 am GMT) - We have now entered the phase where a reduction in overs has commenced. Also, Jonathan Trott is back on air, noting that the rain has eased, but the covers still remain firmly in place. When asked how long the ground staff might take to ready the field for play, he says it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, thanks to the excellent drainage system. However, he also highlights that the covers haven't been removed yet, possibly due to concerns about another spell of rain approaching. He then shifts focus, pointing out that it won't be easy for the bowlers to keep the ball dry, especially with the Dukes ball, which tends to swell up in damp conditions. 16:34 IST:UPDATE - 4.30 pm IST (11 am GMT) - And here comes the rain! Unfortunately, all the excitement from the earlier clearing skies has quickly fizzled out. We have now reached the hour mark since the scheduled start, which means we will begin losing overs from this point onward. Jonathan Trott, however, remains hopeful. He reckons this could be a passing shower, as it is still bright in the direction the weather is moving from. The radar, too, suggests that the rain might not linger for long. 16:31 IST:UPDATE - 4.26 pm IST (10.56 am GMT) - Uh oh! The covers are being brought back on. It's not raining just yet, but the ground staff may be anticipating another spell on the way. A precautionary move, perhaps, with those grey clouds still lingering nearby. 16:24 IST:UPDATE - 4.21 pm IST (10.51 am GMT) - The match officials are out in the middle for the scheduled inspection. While the puddles don't seem to be a major concern, the real worry appears to be a looming band of grey clouds on the horizon that could be heading this way. The square covers have been removed but the hover cover stays on. 16:14 IST:UPDATE - 4.11 pm IST (10.41 am GMT) - We are hearing that there will be an inspection at 4.15 pm IST (10.45 am GMT). The ground staff have begun peeling the covers off, starting with the run-up areas. These are all encouraging signs as we edge closer to the start of action on Day 5. 16:10 IST:UPDATE - 4.02 pm IST (10.32 am GMT) - Good news! The rain has subsided and conditions have brightened considerably out in the middle. There is still just under half an hour before we start losing overs. The initial burst was a heavy downpour, which then eased into a steady drizzle before stopping altogether. The ground staff have a fair bit of work ahead of them, but the efficient drainage at this venue should help speed things along. 15:43 IST:UPDATE - 3.39 pm IST (10.09 am GMT) - Jonathan Trott provides a weather update. He shares that while it's only a light drizzle at the moment, it was preceded by a sharp burst of rain. He adds that the skies in the direction from which the weather is coming appear to be clearing up. Meanwhile, fourth umpire Martin Saggers is out in the middle with an umbrella in hand. He is joined by a member of the support staff and they appear to be checking the radar on a phone. 15:44 IST:India's bowling coach, Morne Morkel, is in for a chat. Shares that he's thoroughly enjoying his time in the camp. Adds that there's a genuine eagerness and willingness among the players to deliver strong performances and make the country proud. Morkel mentions that the team came in well aware of the flat conditions they would encounter in England. He believes that in such scenarios, the bowlers need to be mentally strong, especially once the ball softens, and that success comes from building sustained pressure from both ends. He points out that the bowling unit has shown clear improvement since Headingley. Reckons that the side slope in Leeds posed a challenge the bowlers weren't quite used to, and adds that they will face a similar slope at Lord's next week. Morkel is particularly impressed with Akash Deep. Shares that he came into this match with limited recent red-ball game time and believes the way Akash stepped up and delivered under pressure was highly commendable. 15:31 IST:UPDATE - 3.26 pm IST (9.56 am GMT) - A bit of positive news. The rain has reduced in intensity, but it is still steady for now. Encouragingly, the ground staff have started clearing water off the covers. There are a few puddles on the outfield, and the Super Soppers are in action. The drainage at Edgbaston is excellent, and no overs will be lost until an hour of play is officially lost. 15:19 IST:UPDATE - 3.15 pm IST (9.45 am GMT) - It's absolutely pelting down now, and there's lightning in the area as well. A delayed start is certain, and it looks like we will be waiting a while before any action can resume. While we wait for the weather to clear here in Birmingham, down in Bulawayo, the second Test between South Africa and Zimbabwe is underway. The Proteas, leading the series 1-0, were inserted into bat and lost both openers early, but Wiaan Mulder and David Bedingham have steadied the ship. You can switch tabs and follow the action there in the meantime. 15:10 IST:UPDATE - 3.07 pm IST (9.37 am GMT) - The hover cover was taken off briefly but has now been put back on. It is not raining at the moment, but the radar indicates that a heavy band of rain could be on its way. And just as feared, it has started to rain. The good news is that once this passes, conditions are expected to clear up. 14:56 IST:Jonathan Trott has an update. Although the skies remain threateningly grey in the distance, he mentions that it is starting to brighten up, which is an encouraging sign. 14:42 IST:The visuals from Edgbaston are in. It is drizzling at the moment, but it is not heavy enough to stop the two teams from warming up. The surface remains covered, and the skies above are a gloomy shade of grey. Jonathan Trott is at the ground, and he reckons we might not have a prompt start, but rest assured, we will keep you updated as soon as any official word comes through. Stay tuned! 14:37 IST:Whenever an intriguing day lies ahead, the rain gods often like to make their presence felt and add a bit more drama. That could well be the case today in Birmingham. It rained in the early hours of the morning, and the forecast suggests that showers may linger through the first session before clearing later in the day. It's all set up for a dramatic climax, so hop in and join us for the ride. 14:36 IST:As for India, there is no doubt that their pacers have made the new ball talk more effectively than their English counterparts. With that in mind, the declaration seemed timed to allow two cracks at England with the new ball, first late on Day 4 and then again this morning with the ball still relatively new. After all, the cherry tends to stop doing much beyond the 30-over mark. 14:33 IST:Ever since the start of the Bazball era, Ben Stokes has been quite vocal about not playing for draws. However, this looks like a mountain too steep to climb, no matter how flat the surface has been over the first four days. You would expect England to first focus on surviving the initial phase, then look to push on if possible, or reassess and shut up shop if the situation demands it. 14:31 IST:Hello and a warm welcome, folks. We are back at Edgbaston for Day 5, and there is a sense of 'deja vu' in the air. Much like in Leeds, the Test has gone the distance, with England once again chasing a daunting target. The task is even steeper this time. While they needed 350 on the final day in Leeds, here they require 536. As for India, they had all ten wickets to take in Leeds, whereas today, they need seven to clinch their first Test win at Edgbaston. Whatever the outcome, we are in for a ride, so strap in for what promises to be an exciting finish. 14:30 IST:... DAY 5, FIRST SESSION ... 23:25 IST:Right then, heading into Day 5, realistically, only two results seem possible, an India win or a draw. Even by England's fearless standards, 536 runs to get on the final day is asking too much. From an Indian perspective, this has consistently been a new-ball wicket throughout the Test. The real challenge will begin once the ball loses its shine and hardness. That is when the bowlers will need to remain patient and disciplined, as even on Day 4, the surface played true, with no real demons on offer. As for the weather for Day 5, the radar suggests some rain in the early hours of the morning, but it is expected to clear by the time play begins. The first ball on Day 5 is scheduled for 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). You can join us early for the build-up. See you then. Cheers! 23:15 IST:After India declared with a lead of 607 runs, England faced a challenging phase of around an hour and 20 minutes to navigate before stumps. It was not just physical fatigue but also mental exhaustion from having spent so long in the field that made the task even tougher. Once again, it was the new-ball pairing of Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj who made life difficult for the English top order, with Deep producing a beauty to dismiss Joe Root. 23:14 IST:However, once he was dismissed, the momentum he had built quickly faded. India adopted a more cautious approach, with Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja content to play out the final 40 minutes before Tea without showing much urgency. The charge eventually came after Tea, as both batters put their foot down and looked to accelerate. Jadeja brought up his second fifty of the match, while Gill went on to score 161. With 430 runs in the Test, Gill surpassed Sunil Gavaskar's 344 to register the most runs by an Indian in a single Test match. 23:14 IST:The day began on a promising note for England, with the overcast conditions offering assistance both off the surface and through the air. Brydon Carse challenged both overnight batters, Karun Nair and KL Rahul, and was rewarded with the wicket of Nair. After Rahul fell for 55, Rishabh Pant arrived and immediately injected energy into the innings. England, however, went into the break disappointed after Zak Crawley put down a chance to dismiss Pant on 10. Pant continued in the same vein after the break, with runs flowing steadily for India. 23:06 IST:SESSION SUMMARY - 31 overs, 195 runs and 5 wickets. Well, another day of Indian dominance, with events unfolding in a manner quite similar to Day 2. India first piled on the runs, and then made inroads into a weary English top order that had spent a long time in the field. England have it all to do heading into the final day. 16:35 IST:Game stopped due to : Rain Stoppage 16:16 IST:Game stopped due to : Wet Ground Condition 15:29 IST:Game stopped due to : Rain Stoppage 07:33 IST:15.6: Akash Deep to Ollie Pope, An inswinger on the pads, Ollie Pope flicks this full ball to deep square leg. "He's one of the best batters in the world": Justin Greaves hails Steve Smith for his fifty in Grenada test
New Delhi [India], July 6 (ANI): Already 1-0 ahead in the series, Australia's advantage in the West Indies Test series was furthered when they extended their lead to 254 runs on Day Three of the St George's Test. On a surface of variable bounce, Steve Smith stood class apart, hitting an excellent 71 off 119 balls. 'He's one of the best batters in the world for a reason, but we always knew that he was going to come, and he was always going to be positive,' West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves said, as quoted from ICC. 'We didn't start our best at him, but Steve is Steve, he just at a really good innings.' Giving good support to Smith was Australia's number three, Cameron Green, who overcame indifferent recent form (48 runs from five innings) to score a fighting 52. 'I don't think I ever felt comfortable out there. I think last night was tricky with the new ball, and had to start all over again, and then there were a few ball changes. I never really felt at any point that it was that good,' Cameron Green said. Green, however, lauded Smith, with whom he shared a 93-run partnership. 'You'd probably ask a different question to Steve, he was batting on a different wicket,' he added. When questioned about how West Indies would approach the Test, Justin Greaves stated that despite the Green-Smith vigil, the hosts remained positive. 'For us try and keep Australia under 300 (on Day 4), that is one of our main goals,' Justin Greaves said. On their batting approach for the chase, Greaves hoped that the West Indies batters could follow a methodology similar to Australia's middle-order batters. 'As a batting group we need to be positive when we go out to bat. Probably take some notes from Travis Head, Beau Webster or Alex Carey on just having that positive mindset,' he added. Half-centuries from Alex Carey and Beau Webster helped Australia reach 286 in their first innings. Jayden Seales, Shamar Joseph and Justin Greaves took two wickets apiece. West Indies was bowled out for 253 and conceded a lead of 33 runs. Brendon King scored 75 runs. For Australia, Nathan Lyon was the pick of the bowlers and took three wickets. Captain Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took two wickets each. (ANI)

Apart from Deepika's goal, the women nominees for the Poligras Magic Skill Award feature two more wonderful flashes of brilliance on the field. Patricia Alvarez's incredible 3D Skills and goal for Spain against Australia has made the cut. Patricia showed brilliant technique to win the ball and juggle the ball with her stick over the rushing goalkeeper and found the net. The third nomination is for the wonderful team goal by Australia's women's team against England. The Hockeyroos orchestrated a brilliant passage of play with five passes in the opposing half and a brilliant strike into the goal. (ANI)
