PEOPLE confirmed that Bezos and Sánchez were engaged in May 2023, four years after news broke that they were in a relationshipJeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are married, PEOPLE confirms.
The Amazon founder, 61, and the Emmy-winning journalist, 55, tied the knot in a black-tie ceremony on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, Italy, on Friday, June 27.
The couple celebrated their Italian nuptials over several days, welcoming a number of their celebrity friends for the lavish festivities in the Floating City, including Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Orlando Bloom, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Karlie Kloss, Leonardo DiCaprio, Usher and Tom Brady.
Other notable guests included Queen Rania of Jordan, Bill Gates and his girlfriend, Paula Hurd, François-Henri Pinault, and fashion designers Diane von Fürstenberg, Domenico Dolce and Tommy Hilfiger.
A source tells PEOPLE the couple's wedding ceremony kicked off with a performance of 'Can't Help Falling in Love' by Elvis Presley, sung by Matteo Bocelli to cheers from the guests.
Ahead of the ceremony, Bezos and Sánchez were photographed leaving the Aman Hotel separately, presumably headed for their wedding venue. The bride wore a retro-inspired, all-white suit and silk head scarf, while the groom sported a sleek black tuxedo and aviator-style shades.
Ahead of their wedding celebrations, the bride and groom were photographed arriving in Venice via helicopter on Wednesday, June 25, smiling as they walked hand-in-hand. They later hosted a welcome party for their guests on Thursday night, June 26, at a closed cloister adjacent to the Madonna dell'Orto church.
A source told PEOPLE that the party-goers dined on pizza cooked onsite by a famous Neapolitan chef, along with fried zucchini flowers, arancini, octopus and cod. Dessert included pastries and lemon cakes.
The couple had planned to hold their wedding ceremony on Saturday, June 28, at Scuola Grande della Misericordia, but made a last-minute location change due to security concerns amid ongoing local protests over the wedding.
To show their appreciation to Venice for hosting them and their guests, Bezos and Sánchez made a point of spotlighting the city's rich artisanal history during their wedding festivities. They sourced about 80% of their provisions from Venetian vendors, among them pastry shop Rosa Salva and glass design studio Laguna B, a source told The Associated Press.
In addition, the couple asked their guests to make financial donations to the city of Venice instead of giving them wedding gifts. On their wedding invitation, they listed three Venetian charities they planned to donate the contributions to: the UNESCO Venice Office, CORILA and Venice International University.
They also shared on the invitation why Venice holds such a special place in their hearts. "This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories," they wrote. "Our hope is that through these efforts and by you joining us, Venice will continue to inspire wonder for generations to come."
"We are definitely happy to have this funding for the protection of our very delicate city," Sebastiano Costalonga, local city councillor for commerce and productive activities of the municipality of Venice, told PEOPLE ahead of the wedding.
News of Bezos and Sánchez's relationship first broke in January 2019, around the same time that the Blue Origin founder announced his divorce from MacKenzie Scott after 25 years of marriage. At the time, Sánchez was divorcing her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell.
While it's unclear when and how Bezos and Sánchez first met, sources previously told PEOPLE that the pair struck up a working relationship while teaming up on several projects and "gradually" developed romantic feelings for each other.
Sánchez later opened up about her relationship with Bezos in January 2023, telling WSJ Magazine that the pair were "together all the time."
"We love to be together and we love to work together," she told the outlet, before revealing that Bezos has a side that the public doesn't get to see.
"He's really funny," she shared. "He makes me laugh all the time. He can be goofy."
In May 2023, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the two had gotten engaged. The news came as the couple was vacationing together in the South of France. Sánchez was photographed wearing a dazzling ring on that finger while spending time on Bezo's superyacht Koru and stepping out in town.
At the time, a source told PEOPLE the newly engaged pair were "on cloud nine" and "so happy and madly in love." As for Sánchez's "huge" ring, the insider said the former Good Day LA co-host "keeps playing with it and looking at it. You can tell she loves it."
When Bezos celebrated his milestone 60th birthday last year, Sánchez shared a sweet tribute to her then-fiancé on Instagram.
"Today is another day where your laughter fills our home, and that smile of yours lights up every room. Wishing you an abundance of simple joys and quiet moments of happiness," she wrote. "May this year be filled with everything you love, from peaceful mornings to joyous celebrations."

With their Venetian wedding, Bezos and Sánchez have now officially merged their families. The billionaire mogul shares four children with his ex-wife, and Sánchez shares son Nikko, 24, with ex Tony Gonzalez, and son Evan, 19, and daughter Ella, 17, with Whitesell.

Hundreds of Couples Celebrate Love at Lincoln Center's ‘The Wedding'
Some of the 500 people who lined up outside Lincoln Center in Manhattan on June 21 wore distinctive get-ups like a light-up bridal veil or a tuxedo appliquéd with tropical birds. Many, though, came in T-shirts and baseball caps. They were all there for a mass celebration known as 'The Wedding: New York's Biggest Day,' which is part of the venue's 'Summer for the City' programming. The event has been growing in scope and attendance since its inception in 2022. Now it is among the most anticipated offerings of the summer, according to Shanta Thake, Lincoln Center's chief artistic officer, who was on hand at the recent installment to welcome couples. 'Biggest Day,' conceived as a response to weddings derailed by the coronavirus pandemic, includes welcome festivities like a photo booth run by a professional photographer, a temporary-tattoo artist inking bare forearms with press-on hearts and a tarot-card-reading station. An hourlong symbolic 'ceremony' in Alice Tully Hall with love-themed readings and performances follows, as does a 'reception' with passed desserts in the lobby and outdoor dancing on the plaza next door. No one legally marries, despite the presence of a rabbi, a reverend and other religious leaders this year. But for many, that's the point. Sri Sapram and Oliver Yao, for example, have been dating for two years but are not yet ready to commit for life. One reason is that, for now, their relationship is long-distance. Ms. Sapram, 22, is studying to be a physician assistant in Philadelphia. Mr. Yao, 24, left his job in finance recently and, at least for the summer, is 'funemployed,' he said. Want all of The Times? Everything to know about the life and career of Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos' wife
Lauren Sánchez married Amazon founder Jeff Bezos on June 27, 2025, in a dazzling Italian ceremony. Sánchez and Bezos' wedding was a star-studded affair, drawing some 200 guests, including billionaires and celebrities. Sánchez has captivated the public ever since her relationship with Bezos went public in 2019. Here's a look at Sánchez's life and career. Sánchez's early career in media Sánchez grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and studied broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California. She began anchoring UPN News 13 on Los Angeles' KCOP in 1999, where her team won a Los Angeles Area Emmy award in 2001. Sánchez went on to work as a host at various news channels before landing at Fox 11's "Good Day LA" in 2003, where she worked for six years. She then became a weekend anchor and special correspondent on "Extra" in 2009. In addition to once being an anchor in real life, Sánchez has played a news anchor in movies including "Fight Club," "The Day After Tomorrow," and "The Fantastic Four." She also used to host a dancing reality show; Sánchez was a host on the first season of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" in 2005, but she left the show after one season. Sánchez's aviation career and company Sánchez is also a licensed plane and helicopter pilot. Sánchez learned how to fly while working as a news anchor and she started flying planes in 2011 before getting her helicopter pilot's license in 2016. Her interest in aviation seems to have been sparked at an early age, as her father was a flight instructor and mechanic who rebuilt planes. Sánchez founded Black Ops Aviation in 2016, a "female owned and operated" aerial filming company, which has shot footage for Amazon, Netflix, and Fox, among others. Sánchez also lent her aerial-filming knowledge to Christopher Nolan as a consultant on "Dunkirk." Sánchez's personal life and relationship with Bezos Sánchez was married to Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell for 13 years. Whitesell is co-CEO of the Hollywood agency WME, and his clients include Matt Damon, Christian Bale, and Hugh Jackman. Whitesell and Sánchez married in 2005 and separated in the fall of 2018. They finalized their divorce in October 2019 with shared custody of their two children, People magazine reported. Sánchez also has a son from her previous relationship with NFL star Tony Gonzalez. Sánchez and Bezos got engaged four years after going public with their relationship. Bezos and Sánchez first connected at a 2016 Amazon Studios party for the film "Manchester by the Sea," according to Brad Stone's book, "Amazon Unbound." They would meet again in 2018, when Bezos hired Sánchez's company to film footage for his rocket company, Blue Origin. Their relationship came to light in a 2019 tabloid scandal, and the couple went public shortly after Bezos and his now-ex-wife, author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, announced their divorce in 2019 following 25 years of marriage. Sánchez and Bezos got engaged in May 2023. Sanchez was photographed with a large diamond ring on her left ring finger while onboard Bezos' yacht, Koru. Since then, Sánchez and Bezos have often been spotted cruising on his yacht or attending high-profile events, including President Trump's inauguration. In 2020, Bezos announced that he would commit $10 billion — about 7.7% of Bezos' net worth at the time — to fighting the climate crisis as part of an initiative called the Bezos Earth Fund. Sánchez serves as the organization's vice chair. She's also a children's book author — Sánchez's picture book, " The Fly Who Flew to Space," came out in September 2024. She's talked about how her own struggles with dyslexia were part of the inspiration for her writing the book. In April 2025, Sánchez went to space, leading Blue Origin's all-woman crew. The crew also included "CBS Mornings" cohost Gayle King, pop star Katy Perry, Nobel Peace Prize nominee Amanda Nguyen, former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, and film producer Kerianne Flynn. The roughly 11-minute journey took the six-person all-women crew past the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space. Blue Origin says this was the first all-female flight crew since Valentina Tereshkova's flight to space in 1963.
