OPEN// Egypt FM lauds distinguished relations with Greece

Middle East04-06-2025

CAIRO, June 4 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised on Wednesday the deeply rooted relations between Egypt and Greece as well as the distinguished relations binding the two countries in the political, economic, and cultural domains.
Abdelatty highlighted the upgrade of ties between the two countries to a strategic partnership that took place during the first meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council in Athens last month that was co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The top diplomat gave the remarks during a meeting with his Greek counterpart Giorgos Gerapetritis. The meeting tackled ways of boosting bilateral relations.
Abdelatty briefed his Greek counterpart on the court ruling issued on May 28 concerning the land surrounding Saint Catherine Monastery, stressing that the ruling preserves the spiritual and religious value of the monastery and does not undermine the holy place or its affiliated historical sites.
He made clear that the ruling explicitly upholds the religious and monastic ownership of the monastery and surrounding areas in a way that reinforces the monastery's sanctity and ensures its continued ability to perform its religious and spiritual mission without any changes.
Abdelatty said President Sisi stressed on more than one occasion, most recently during his visit to Athens on May 7, that Egypt is committed to preserving the monastery's sacred status and protecting it from any infringement.
This, he said, reflects Egypt's enduring respect for the sacred, religious, and spiritual status of the monastery. (MENA)

France Ready to Help Ensure Safe Food Distribution in Gaza

Israa Farhan France has declared its willingness to support safe food distribution efforts in Gaza amid a worsening humanitarian crisis. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated on Saturday that both France and Europe are prepared to contribute to ensuring that food aid is delivered securely in the conflict-torn region. In an interview with France's LCI news channel, Barrot emphasized that this initiative seeks to address a key concern raised by Israeli authorities: the risk of humanitarian aid being looted by armed groups. While the French minister did not elaborate on the exact nature of the assistance France and the European Union might provide, he expressed deep concern over recent casualties. Barrot highlighted his outrage at the tragic deaths of approximately 500 people during food aid distribution efforts in Gaza in recent weeks, many of whom were reportedly killed while waiting for supplies. His comments come amid growing international criticism of Israel following a series of deadly incidents linked to the distribution of humanitarian aid by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an organization with unclear funding sources, backed by both Israel and the United States. Since early March, Israel has imposed a near-total blockade on Gaza, severely restricting the entry of food, medicine, and essential supplies. Although the blockade was eased slightly at the end of May, aid distribution has largely been carried out by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is supported by armed contractors responsible for securing the aid centers. According to the Health Ministry in Gaza, run by the Hamas government, nearly 550 people have been killed and over 4,000 injured in mass gatherings near aid distribution points since the Foundation began its operations. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

IAEA Chief: Iran Could Resume Enriched Uranium Production Within Months

Nada Mustafa Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, suggested that Iran could begin producing enriched uranium 'within months,' despite the damage sustained by its nuclear facilities following U.S. and Israeli attacks, according to remarks made to CBS News. Grossi added that Iran could potentially operate several centrifuge cascades for enriched uranium production within that timeframe. Regarding speculation over whether Iran managed to transfer some or all of its estimated 408 kilograms of highly enriched uranium before the strikes, Grossi stated that he does not know where the material might currently be located. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
