Suspected vehicle found in fatal Crystal Lake crash, police say
According to the office, the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash on Wednesday has been found.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, two 15-year-old boys were walking their bikes back from a fishing trip when a car going 40 mph slammed into one of them from behind at Terra Cotta Road and Deering Oaks Lane. Police said the driver fled the scene.
The McHenry County Coroner's office identified the victim as 15-year-old Nick Laureys. An autopsy determined Nick died from blunt force injuries.
The office said there are no additional suspects, and no charges have been filed. They plan to release more information as it becomes available.

A man was shot to death early July 5 over an alleged rent payment dispute, police said. Metro Nashville Police in a statement said a 26-year-old man got into an argument reportedly over rent payment at the Preakness Apartments on Bell Road in the Antioch when he was shot multiple times. The victim was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died, police said. His name was not released pending family notification. Oshkosh police investigating a homicide after finding stabbed body near Menominee Park
The Oshkosh Police Department is investigating a homicide after finding a deceased male who had suffered multiple stab wounds on July 5. A 19-year-old man from Fond Du Lac has been taken into jail for first degree intentional homicide in connection with the person's death, according to information released by police on July 6. According to Oshkosh police, officers were dispatched to a car accident at the 900 block of E. Irving Ave. around 11 p.m. on Saturday. Once police arrived, they found the adult male driver deceased with multiple stab wounds. According to police, the stabbing is connected to a "physical altercation" between several people at nearby Menominee Park. The situation escalated and "resulted in one adult male being stabbed," according to the police news release from July 6. Menominee Park is less than a mile away from the location where the body was found. It is located on the western shore of Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh. Boy, 8, falls down shaft at Koko Crater Trail
An 8-year-old boy was critically injured today after falling roughly 20 feet down a shaft into a bunker-like room near the top of the popular Koko Crater Trail in Hawaii Kai. The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call about the incident at 5 :24 p.m. and dispatched five units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on the scene at 5 :39 p.m., with rescuers heading up the steep trail on foot while other units secured a landing zone nearby for HFD's Air 1 helicopter. The boy, who reportedly is a local resident, was hiking with his parents when he fell. Rescuers reached him at 5 :57 p.m. and provided treatment to prepare him for extraction, HFD said.
