Dubai College of Tourism and Marriott International Launch Hospitality Apprenticeship Programme for Emiratis
The initiative aims to cultivate local talent and strengthen the UAE's hospitality sector, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33's goal of integrating Emiratis into the private sector.
The two-year Diploma in Hospitality - Apprenticeship Programme will launch its first edition in May 2025, enrolling 40 Emirati students at DCT's One Central campus. The programme combines theoretical learning with practical training across Marriott's hotels in the UAE, providing students with a Level 4 Diploma accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education. Participants will gain hands-on experience in key areas such as front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage management, preparing them for future leadership roles.
Mariam Sultan Al Maeeni, Director of Industry Nationalisation at DCT, highlighted the collaboration as a significant step toward empowering Emirati youth with essential skills under the guidance of industry professionals.
Sandeep Walia, Chief Operating Officer at Marriott International, reaffirmed the company's dedication to nurturing future hospitality leaders and contributing to the UAE's long-term growth.
Over 40 Marriott properties in the UAE, including more than 30 in Dubai, will participate in the initiative, with the company offering full-time roles to graduates upon completion. The programme also supports Marriott's sustainability and social impact platform, 'Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction,' promoting empowerment and sustainable business practices.
This partnership marks a pivotal move in fostering a skilled Emirati workforce and enhancing Dubai's status as a global hospitality destination.

Dubai has launched a programme for first-time home buyers, aiming to make homeownership more accessible and affordable by facilitating priority access to new launches, preferential pricing and tailored mortgage solutions. Leading developers have reportedly already committed to the programme, promising to support first-time home buyers through priority access to units in new off-plan launches, and enhanced commercial terms, including preferential pricing. Participating banks will provide "tailored mortgage products designed specifically for eligible buyers," as the programme reportedly continues to onboard new partners to increase the choice for buyers. Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), said the initiative marks a "significant milestone" for the real estate sector. It "represents a powerful economic lever - stimulating long-term demand, driving liquidity into the real estate ecosystem and accelerating the sector's contribution to GDP in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33. By lowering entry barriers to homeownership for Emiratis and expatriates alike, we are enhancing investor confidence, increasing market absorption rates, and reinforcing Dubai's global positioning as a city where personal aspirations and business ambitions converge," Almarri said. 'In a global climate where housing accessibility is a structural challenge, Dubai is offering a model of sustainable urban development - one that supports talent retention, fosters community cohesion, and enhances the city's competitiveness as a place to live, work, and invest."

Belhaif Al Nuaimi receives Russian and Indian delegations
Welcoming the Russian delegation In the first meeting, Dr Al Nuaimi welcomed Dr Hossam Azzam, Education Ambassador at the Academy of Financial Sciences under the Government of the Russian Federation and Head of the 'Majdalina' group for international relations, as well as Ms Anya Goryacheva, Coordinator of Russian–Emirati Economic Relations. Launched jointly by the Dubai Land Department (DLD) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the First-Time Home Buyer Programme is designed to stimulate real estate demand and contribute to the emirate's long-term economic agenda. The initiative supports the Dubai Real Estate Strategy 2033 and the D33 Economic Agenda, which aim to double the real estate sector's contribution to GDP.
