Siemens adds Arm Zena support to boost AI vehicle design

Siemens Digital Industries Software has added support for the newly released Arm Zena Compute Subsystems in its PAVE360 platform for software-defined vehicles.
The Arm Zena Compute Subsystems (CSS) represent the company's first generation of compute subsystems designed specifically for automotive applications. The pre-integrated and validated hardware is engineered to be efficient in terms of performance, power consumption, and size, with the aim of facilitating the development of vehicles driven by artificial intelligence.
The automotive sector is undergoing significant change as manufacturers shift to software-defined vehicles (SDV) in which intelligent, AI-powered functionality is increasingly important for product differentiation. This trend requires a rethinking of traditional development methodologies.
Suraj Gajendra, Vice President of Automotive Products and Software Solutions, Automotive Line of Business at Arm, said: "The era of AI-defined vehicles is an opportunity to bring new in-vehicle experiences to life, but it will require a much faster speed of development and deployment.
"With the help of virtual platform solutions like PAVE360 from Siemens, Arm is enabling our partners to begin software development on Zena CSS before physical silicon is available, significantly reducing development time for new software solutions."
David Fritz, Vice President at Siemens Digital Industries, commented, "Our work with Arm demonstrates that it's no longer enough that vehicle development is software defined - the process now needs to be systems-aware with the full vehicle system developed in parallel to help ensure that the entire system meets requirements and will require continuous verification."
He added, "Siemens is in a unique position to support this new approach as we enable customers to develop multi-domain (across electronics, hardware and application development) digital twin for validation and integration that encompasses the whole System-on-a-Chip (SoC), electronics/electrical (E/E) system and vehicle development flow."
Through PAVE360, customers will be able to create and test software for Zena CSS even before the underlying silicon hardware becomes available. The platform will also play a role within the SOAFEE (Scalable Open Architecture for Embedded Edge) community, where virtual prototyping is set to be a foundational tool for developing and validating SOAFEE Blueprints.
This approach allows automotive developers to functionally validate software within the system and model interactions between hardware and software. Such capabilities are designed to address the complexities posed by the move towards software-defined and systems-aware automotive design and production.
PAVE360 is Siemens' comprehensive solution within its SDV framework, integrating several of its software and hardware tools. These include the Innexis software environment, Veloce hardware-assisted verification and validation systems, Teamcenter for product lifecycle management, Polarion for application lifecycle management, and Simcenter Prescan and Amesim for simulation. The aim is to provide a more cohesive and integrated workflow for software-defined automotive development.
The initial rollout of Zena CSS support is built on Siemens' Innexis Architecture Native Acceleration (ANA) technology, now available as part of the PAVE360 toolset. This allows automotive engineers to begin software development for the new hardware platform immediately and to continue the development cycle seamlessly once silicon hardware is released, including accurate performance and power analysis through Innexis Developer Pro.
Parallel to software and hardware development, PAVE360 enables requirements management and verification to be connected, supporting the creation of a digital twin that reflects the entirety of the vehicle system. This is intended to address common integration issues faced by automotive manufacturers as vehicles become more complex and interconnected.

'Missed Package?' Scam Fooling Thousands

Package delivery scams are relentless, and no longer focus on shopping seasons and Christmas. NZ Post delivered more than 81.9 million courier parcels in the 12 months to 1 April 2024. Many Kiwis get too many packages to keep track of, and that's exactly what scammers are counting on. Delivery scams are evolving, and these days they can appear quite subtle. Look for these signs: Unprofessional Layout and Missing Shipment Details - The email design is sloppy, and key information like a real pickup address and customer account number is missing — not what you'd expect from DHL or NZ Post. Suspicious Email and Links - Only an email address is shown (no real address), and the tracking link could redirect you to a phishing site. Urgent, Pressuring Language - The email tries to rush you into clicking quickly — classic tactic scammers use to trick people. Custom Payment Requests – Even if it's just a small 'customs' fee, be cautious. New Zealand Customs does not contact individuals or businesses about paying customs duty. Imported goods are handled by licensed freight forwarders, not by NZ Customs. Below is an example. The email doesn't stand out particularly at first glance. And that's exactly why this example is so interesting: it strikes a balance between appearing legitimate and hiding the usual red flags often found in scam emails. One quick trick to check if an email is fake is to look at the sender's address. Does it really come from DHL or something odd like info@ Looking further into the email body, there's a button that clearly encourages the user to click and proceed. It's designed to appear as though it will take the recipient to DHL's official tracking page. The link actually goes to a site hosted on IPFS — a system that makes it hard to take things down, which is exactly why scammers love it. While this makes it harder to take malicious content offline, it also raises a red flag — this is not where you'd expect a legitimate DHL email to direct you. Since IPFS is compatible with modern browsers, it opens a landing page. The page doesn't display much information at all, but it personalises the scam by pre-filling the login field with the recipient's email address. That's a subtle but clever touch — it adds just enough legitimacy to convince some users to proceed. The site even blocks right-clicking so you can't inspect the code — a common trick scammers use to hide what they're really doing. The language selection links at the bottom are non-functional — clicking them does nothing. But most users won't bother to test those, so they serve a purely visual purpose: to make the site look more legitimate and avoid raising suspicion. At first glance, most of the code is dedicated to CSS styling — which is unusual, as this would typically be loaded from external files. Embedding so much CSS directly into the page is a strange choice and already raises some suspicion. But beyond the formatting, there are several indicators that strongly suggest this is a phishing site. The URL points to IPFS storage ( Real login portals (e.g., for Microsoft, Google, etc.) use official domains (like is a decentralised file storage system — no legitimate organisation will host login pages there. Form captures email and password with no backend: The form fields (email, password) do not submit anywhere obvious. Real login forms send credentials securely (HTTPS POST) to legitimate servers. Phishing forms either harvest the info silently or submit it to hidden malicious endpoints. Mix of languages links with no functionality: There are fake "language links" (Arabic, Czech, Danish, etc.) all pointing to the same broken IPFS page. On real sites, language selectors actually change the content dynamically. Poor HTML/CSS quality and broken elements: The code is poorly formatted, has broken inline styles, and excessive base64-encoded images. Real corporate web pages are carefully coded, fully polished, and use proper asset management (e.g., not massive inline blobs). The distribution of this scam shows New Zealand and Australia are real targets. Due to the generic nature of the landing page and the broad appeal of the phishing message, this scam can be deployed almost identically worldwide. This increases the attackers' chances of success by allowing them to trick users in multiple regions into handing over their credentials — which can then be repurposed for more targeted, high-value attacks. The threat is steadily increasing. The dips visible in the data typically correspond to weekends, suggesting that the most successful day to launch an attack is Monday — when people return to full inboxes and are still easing into the workweek. Aside from this pattern, the threat remains consistent and persistent. Gen cybersecurity experts fully expect this scam, or variations of it, to continue appearing now and in the foreseeable future. Kiwis can protect themselves against these scams in five easy ways: Always check the email headers Look at the sender's email address closely — is it from a legitimate domain you recognise? Official companies will never use suspicious or unfamiliar domains. Examine the landing page Does the page look like what you expected? If something feels off, it probably is. Be especially wary if you're redirected to an unfamiliar URL. Assess the design and formatting Most phishing emails are poorly designed. Look for inconsistent fonts, low-quality logos, or broken elements that a professional company would never send. Watch for time pressure and manipulative language Scammers often create a false sense of urgency — claiming your package will be returned or your account will be locked unless you act immediately. Take a moment to verify before clicking. Do not share sensitive information Never give out personal or financial details in response to suspicious messages. Email scams aren't going away, but staying alert can keep you safe. Before you click, take a breath, check the sender, and when in doubt, go straight to the company's official website. Siemens unveils tools for advanced 2.5D & 3D IC design

Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced the addition of two new products to its Electronic Design Automation (EDA) portfolio, aimed at addressing the challenges presented by 2.5D and 3D Integrated Circuit (IC) design and manufacturing. The new Innovator3D IC suite is designed to help integrated circuit designers manage the increasing complexity of heterogeneously integrated 2.5D and 3D IC architectures. Alongside this suite, Siemens launched Calibre 3DStress, a software tool intended to provide early and accurate thermo-mechanical analysis, including the effects of stress at the transistor level during chip and package integration. Addressing complexity in IC design According to the company, the electronics industry is now incorporating thinner dies and higher package processing temperatures into 2.5D and 3D IC designs. This has resulted in situations where ICs that pass validation at the die level may encounter issues with specification compliance once assembled and reflowed in final packaging. These issues can impact both the performance and reliability of devices. The Innovator3D IC solution suite is intended to streamline several design and management tasks. It incorporates functions for planning, heterogeneous integration, substrate and interposer implementation, interface protocol analysis compliance, and management of design data and intellectual property (IP). Built with an artificial intelligence-driven user experience, the suite leverages extensive multithreading and multicore processing to tackle designs with over five million pins. The suite includes: the Innovator3D IC Integrator for unified design planning and predictive analysis using a digital twin; the Innovator3D IC Layout, which supports package interposer and substrate implementation; the Innovator3D IC Protocol Analyzer for chiplet-to-chiplet and die-to-die interface compliance; and the Innovator3D IC Data Management element for managing work-in-progress designs and data IP. Early detection of design risks Calibre 3DStress expands Siemens' multiphysics solution introduced with Calibre 3DThermal in 2024. Calibre 3DStress is tailored for transistor-level analysis, verification and debugging of mechanical stresses - including warpage - within 3D IC packages. The software lets engineers predict the effects of chip-package interaction on overall design function earlier in the process, aiming to prevent potential failures and optimise for durability and performance. The tool is distinguished by its ability to detect stress at the transistor rather than just the package level, providing visibility into electrical behaviour and potential risks earlier in the design process. This capability integrates industry-standard Calibre physical verification with an advanced mechanical solver for evaluating stresses in IC structures and materials.
