Shivamogga district MLAs Gopal Krishna Belur, Sharada Poorya Nayak, MLC Balkis Banu, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajaneesh, along with senior district officials, attended the meeting.The agenda covered several key points: Conversion of temporary house title deeds to permanent status and rectification of incorrect prescribed forest (PF) entries in land records.The meeting also addressed timeline setting for the final notification of reserved forests under Section 4 of the Karnataka Forest Act, 1963, creation of e-asset records for land title deeds issued by Mysore govt, and exclusion of rehabilitation lands of various dam project victims from forest land designation proposals.

The meeting also discussed the regularisation of forest lands occupied before April 27, 1978, transformation of forest villages to revenue villages under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, and land rights for victims affected by Varahi, Chakra Savehaklu, Bhadra, Tunga, and other power and irrigation projects, including conversion of revenue plots (site) within 0.05 gunta.Madhu affirmed the govt's dedication to addressing these matters and delivering permanent solutions for the forest and land rights of affected inhabitants in Shivamogga district.Shalini offered positive assurance, providing clear instructions to officials for swift resolution.

Revanth Reddy will give a presentation on the caste census and BC reservations to all Congress MPs at Indira Bhavan in New Delhi on July 24, said Telangana Congress MPs convener and Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi. Rajagopal Reddy on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the MP said that the high command is looking into the matter and advised leaders against making public comments.

Anwar Raajhaa joins DMK, warns BJP will ‘destroy' AIADMK like other regional parties
Chennai, JUly 21 (UNI) Soon after joining the ruling DMK in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin today, former minister Anwar Raajhaa said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would destroy the AIADMK just as it has done with several other regional parties across the country. The AIADMK suffered a major setback ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, as Raajhaa was one of its most prominent Muslim faces and a vocal critic of the party's alliance with the BJP. Speaking to the media after his formal induction into the DMK, Raajhaa said, 'The AIADMK has derailed from its ideological path and is now held hostage by the BJP. Wherever the BJP aligns, its intention is to devour and destroy—as it did with the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party. The BJP's agenda is to wipe out the AIADMK and confront the DMK.' Raajhaa, who had been associated with the AIADMK for over five decades, said the BJP's treatment of the alliance was a key reason for his departure. 'In his three interviews, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had not even once mentioned that Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) is Chief Ministerial candidate. He has been reiterating that the NDA will secure the mandate and the BJP would be part of the government. Even EPS could not declare that he is the CM face in the event of AIADMK winning the election. But, like (US President) Trump claiming that he brought about the truce (in the Indo-Pak conflict), the fate of EPS is similar to that and hence he is parroting for the last 10 days that he is the CM nominee,' Raajhaa said, slamming the BJP and EPS. Praising the leadership of the Chief Minister and DMK president, like all newcomers into the party, he said,'Stalin happens to be the only leader who can protect the Dravidian ideology and its cardinal principles like state autonomy and linguistic right of our language.' Stung by Raajhaa's move to desert the party, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) has expelled him as the party's Organising Secretary and from the primary membership. Though it was expected, the desertion of the Muslim leader had rattled the AIADMK leadership. Earlier, arriving at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, Raajhaa, was welcomed into the party fold by Stalin, who presented him with a shawl and the DMK membership card. He was disenchanted with the AIADMK's re-entry into the BJP-led NDA and had openly criticised the decision to align with the saffron party in party fora, concerned about the desertion of the party's base among the religious minorities. Earlier, he had blamed the loss in the 2021 Assembly poll to the alliance with the BJP. Now, his entry into the DMK will help the party to further consolidate the minorities' support in the crucial assembly election. A strongman from the southern Ramanathapuram district, he was in the AIADMK when the party was founded by the late matinee icon and Chief Minister MG Ramachandran (MGR), in 1972. MGR had elevated him to the party's highest policy-making body and along with Jayalaltihaa and both were inducted though not being ministers. In the split after MGR's demise, he was with the faction led by MGR's widow VN Janaki but eventually switched over to Jayalalithaa's side. In the 2021 Assembly election, he was denied the ticket as he was opposed to the alliance with the BJP. Following his interview, praising VK Sasikala, he was axed from the party but rejoined in August last. He is among the last of the few known Muslim faces that the AIADMK had. With the minorities continuing to be captive vote bank of the DMK, Raajhaa's desertion would be a fatal blow for the AIADMK, particularly in the southern districts where the party's vote share has gone down, relegating it to third and fourth place in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said US President Donald Trump's claims of mediating the India-Pakistan ceasefire in the immediate aftermath of Operation Sindoor were 'humiliating' for the country. Kharge also sought clarification on why terrorists involved in the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack had not been captured yet. New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on a fiery note Monday, with the Opposition launching a two-front attack on the BJP-led NDA government. As soon as both Houses assembled on the first day of the session, Opposition MPs stormed the well, demanding answers from the Narendra Modi-led government on various issues and seeking a discussion on Operation Sindoor. Lok Sabha was adjourned thrice and the Rajya Sabha once amid the ruckus. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the House that he had admitted a notice from BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya to discuss Operation Sindoor. The date and time will be discussed with other leaders at the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting. He said many members have given notices seeking adjournment of proceedings under Rule 267 to discuss Operation Sindoor, but they had not been accepted. However, he allowed Kharge to speak on the matter. Attacking the government on Pahalgam, Kharge questioned why none of the terrorists behind it had been captured or killed since the 22 April attack. 'Why have the Pahalgam terrorists not been neutralised or captured after so many days and why has the American president been claiming that he has brokered peace during Operation Sindoor?' Kharge asked. 'We have supported the government unconditionally without asking any questions, only to support national interest and the army. But the government has not answered the House. The J&K L-G has admitted intelligence failure in Pahalgam and even their CDS and a defence attaché have made several sensitive revelations. We want to know,' he added. 'The American president has claimed 24 times that he has brokered peace between the two countries. How come an outsider can make such a claim? This is an insult to the nations. Why has the government compromised with the respect of the country?' he remarked. The Leader of the House, J.P. Nadda, said the government was ready to discuss both issues. 'There should be no message conveyed that the House is not ready to discuss Operation Sindoor. This is the biggest achievement after Independence,' he said. The Union minister added that nothing would go on record except what he had said. He said the government was ready for discussion under the BAC and the BAC meeting would decide the agenda to be discussed. At the BAC meeting, 16 hours have been allotted to the Lok Sabha for discussion and nine hours to the Rajya Sabha. The discussion may take place next week. 'The government is ready for discussion, but they (Opposition MPs) are protesting here. It is not right to protest like this on the first day of the Monsoon session,' he said. The House moved into an unscheduled adjournment following protests by Opposition MPs seeking Modi's clarification on foreign policy developments in the immediate aftermath of Operation Sindoor. Speaker Om Birla made an unsuccessful appeal to the protesting members seeking that the House be allowed to function according to procedure. He also took exception to the use of placards in the well of the House. But agitating members did not budge. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also rose to pacify members, saying the government was ready to discuss Operation Sindoor. But Rahul Gandhi, speaking to reporters outside Parliament, said he was not allowed to speak in the House. 'The defence minister was allowed to speak on the issue and other government members were allowed,' he said. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi supported Rahul's charge, questioning why the Leader of the Opposition wasn't allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha. While the first day of the session opened on a stormy note, BJP sources told ThePrint that the government's strategy is to celebrate Operation Sindoor as 'Vijay Utsav' as indicated by the Prime Minister's comments ahead of the session. Modi, speaking to the media before the start of the session, hailed Operation Sindoor as a 'Vijay Utsav' (victory celebration) for the nation. 'This Monsoon Session is a 'Vijay Utsav',' Modi said. 'The entire world has witnessed the strength of the Indian armed forces. The objective set for Operation Sindoor was achieved with 100 percent success. In just 22 minutes, our forces neutralised terrorists in their own hideouts.' Although the government has already announced that it is ready for discussion on the cross-border strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Congress sources said the Opposition wants to corner the government on the issue of Trump's alleged intervention. It wants the Prime Minister to be present during the discussion, knowing Modi is scheduled to visit the Maldives and the UK this week.
