50 Cent congratulates rival Diddy for not-guilty verdict on top charges: ‘The Gay John Gotti'

News.com.au4 days ago
50 Cent was quick to react to the Sean 'Diddy' Combs verdict Wednesday – seemingly hailing the disgraced rapper for beating the feds before quickly dubbing him 'the Gay John Gotti.'
'Diddy beat the Feds that boy a bad man!' the rapper said in an Instagram post alongside a photo of himself grinning and applauding emojis.
50 Cent, who has a longstanding feud with the disgraced music mogul, then compared him to the infamous Mafia boss who was nicknamed 'The Teflon Don' after prosecutors couldn't get charges to stick, The NY Post reports.
'Beat the Rico, he the Gay John Gotti,' the rapper added.
The 'In Da Club' hip-hop artist was name-dropped during the trial back in May during shocking testimony that touched on the longstanding feud between the hip-hop legends.
Diddy's ex-assistant, Capricorn Clark, had told jurors her boss once implied he might pull a gun on Fitty.
'I don't like all the back and forth … I like guns,' Clark recalled Combs telling his manager after seeing 50 Cent at an MTV event.
50 Cent – who famously took nine bullets during a 2000 shooting in Queens – reacted to the name-drop with mocking faux fear.
'Wait a minute PUFFY's got a gun, I can't believe this I don't feel safe,' the New York City native posted on Instagram after the testimony. 'LOL.'
The beef between the pair began nearly 20 years ago after 50 Cent, whose real name Curtis James Jackson III, released a diss track — 'The Bomb' — in 2006 that accused Combs of knowing who killed The Notorious B.I.G.
He spent much of the Combs' sex-trafficking trial roasting him over the torrent of graphic evidence and accusations levelled against him.
The Bad Boy Records founder was ultimately found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted on two sex-trafficking charges and one racketeering charge.
The acquittals on the sex trafficking counts mean he will avoid a 15-year mandatory minimum sentence. He could have faced life in prison if he were convicted on sex trafficking or racketeering conspiracy. Combs now faces a maximum 10-year prison sentence on each of the two prostitution counts.

Sean ‘Diddy' Combs given jailhouse standing ovation after verdict

Sean 'Diddy' Combs received a standing ovation from inmates when he returned to jail after he was acquitted on charges which potentially carried a life sentence, according to his lawyer. Combs' attorney Marc Agnifilo claimed Combs was cheered by fellow prisoners at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn after a jury found him not guilty on charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking last week. The 55-year-old rapper was refused bail after being found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and is still facing up to 20 years in prison. The lawyer said the inmates championed the violent domestic abuser for beating the more serious charges in the high-profile federal case in New York. 'They all said: 'We never get to see anyone who beats the government',' Agnifilo told Associated Press. Agnifilo said he warned the rapper to expect sex trafficking charges after federal agents raided his home in Los Angeles and Miami in March last year. The racketeering conspiracy charge stemmed from the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act, or RICO, is a legal weapon introduced in the 1970s to bring down America's notorious Mafia families. 'I said: 'Maybe it's your fate in life to be the guy who wins',' he recalled during the AP interview. 'They need to see that someone can win. I think he took that to heart.' The phone interview with the lawyer was interrupted by a call from Combs, who reportedly speaks to his attorney up to five times a day from the Brooklyn lockup. There will be a hearing this week to address the scheduling of his sentencing on the prostitution transportation charges which each carry a sentence of up to 10 years. He also still faces a raft of civil lawsuits. Over the two-months trial, prosecutors had accused Combs of running a criminal enterprise with close associates and used threats and violence to force his then partner Cassie Ventura and other women to engage in sex at drug-fuelled 'freak-offs.' The raft of charges against Combs were triggered by Ventura's civil suit, filed in November 2023, alleging the powerful music mogul raped and physically abused her. He settled the case out of court. Two months after the federal raids on his homes in March 2024, shocking hotel surveillance footage emerged of Combs chasing, kicking and beating Ventura outside a lift as she sought to escape him. The singer was heavily pregnant as she testified in the New York court about the abuse she suffered at the hands of Combs during their relationship between 2007 to 2018. After the verdict was announced last week, Judge Arun Subramanian ordered the rapper to remain in custody given the evidence presented at trial that he had been violent in the past. Ventura, who gave birth to her third child two weeks after giving her evidence, sent a letter to the judge via her lawyer stating she believed 'Mr. Combs is likely to pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself.' 'It is impossible for the defendant to demonstrate by clear and convincing evidence that he poses no danger,' the judge said. His lawyers will attempt to expedite the sentencing hearing schedule at a hearing before the judge on Wednesday morning (AEST).

Truth behind Hollywood's most tragic stars

Marilyn Monroe. Jayne Mansfield. Anna Nicole Smith. Hollywood has a long and sad history of churning out blonde bombshells who live fast and die young. Until recently, Mariska Hargitay had spent her whole life trying to distance herself from one of those famous sex symbols: her mother, Jayne Mansfield. Playing detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for more than 26 years, Hargitay has forged a career breaking down stereotypes about sex and sexuality on screen, not playing up to them. 'I just wanted my mum to be like the other mums!' Hargitay told Vanity Fair ahead of the release of her new documentary My Mum Jayne. 'Like, 'Why are you always in a bathing suit? Why so much breast?' I just wanted a maternal mother image. I was embarrassed by the choices that she made.' One of the most famous images of Mansfield was taken at a 1957 dinner while seated next to Sophia Loren. As the blonde starlet's cleavage threatened to escape from her dress, Loren was snapped giving Mansfield some serious side-eye. Hargitay hated the iconic shot, explaining in her doco: 'To see another woman look at your mum like that was excruciating for me as a little girl.' In My Mum Jayne, the actor shares rare archival footage and interviews her older siblings to get better insight into the woman behind the myth, painting a picture of a talented musician who could speak multiple languages. 'Her career made me want to do it differently, but I want to understand her now,' Hargitay explains in her documentary, as she faces the truth about her own paternity and her mother's death in 1967. Like Monroe before her, Mansfield was eager to be taken seriously as an actor and grew frustrated by the voluptuous, sexed-up image that had made her a household name. And like Monroe, Mansfield died young and in terribly tragic circumstances. Five years after Monroe's overdose, Mansfield, 34, was killed instantly when the car she was travelling in slammed into the trailer of a truck. Hargitay, who was in the backseat with her two brothers, survived the accident. Before her death, Mansfield admitted that Monroe had been an inspiration to herself and other aspiring actors such as Mamie Van Doren. 'I've always thought, since I was a little girl, that she was the most beautiful woman in the world,' Mansfield said. 'You know, I really don't look like her at all. You can take practically any fairly shaped girl, bleach her hair, wet her lips, put her into a tight dress and have her walk a little wiggly and – well, we all look a little alike.' The archetype blonde bombshell, Monroe inspired Elton John's song 'Candle In The Wind' and an Andy Warhol pop art series, as well as movies and TV shows. For Michelle Williams (who was Oscar-nominated for playing Monroe in the 2011 film My Week With Marilyn), the iconic star had a childlike vulnerability that made you want to take care of her. And to prepare for playing the much-copied Monroe, Williams devoured countless biographies. As soon as you're done with one book, you can pick up another, she told Vogue. Everything I could get my hands on. Footage, clips. I mean honestly, I did feel a tremendous amount of responsibility to the memory of somebody and the way that the person lives on in the world and in the people that admire them. Ana de Armas also earned an Oscar nod for her confronting portrayal of the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes star in the 2022 Netflix film Blonde. She was living in a nightmare, de Armas said of Monroe's sexy image, during an interview at the Venice Film Festival. This character was like a prison for her, de Armas said in a later interview. She was the most famous and desired woman in the world. At the same time, she was completely unseen for who she was. She felt like she couldn't show herself to people because that's not what they wanted from her. And she learned that very quickly. I could not imagine something worse to happen to someone, not to be able to be yourself. Art sadly imitated life for one of Monroe's most famous imitators, Nicole Smith. The Texan Playboy playmate made no secret of her Monroe obsession, telling Extra: The way she talked, so poised, so beautiful, so sad. She was all around me. Smith even lived in Monroe's house for a time and said she'd seen her ghost wandering the halls. According to Smith's limo driver Todd Bernstein, Smith told him she would have liked to die like Marilyn, young and beautiful. And in a sad twist of fate, she did, dying in 2007 from an accidental overdose. She was 39. Anna Nicole Smith: Singer turned actor and reality star Willa Ford plays the tabloid darling in this 2007 biopic tracing Smith's journey from waitress to Guess model. T he W ild, Wild World Of Jayne Mansfield: This 1968 posthumous quasi-documentary mashes together real footage of Mansfield travelling through Europe and the US, overlaid with narration by a Mansfield sound-alike. Blonde: This 2001 miniseries is a fictional account of Monroe's life, featuring Australian-born actor Poppy Montgomery as Monroe, alongside Kirstie Alley, Patrick Dempsey and fellow Aussie Richard Roxburgh.

Chilling new details on Sophia Hutchins' fatal ATV crash as Caitlyn Jenner addresses tragic death

Heartbreaking details about Caitlyn Jenner's friend and longtime manager Sophia Hutchins' shocking death have emerged. 'It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, the other party, and then that caused her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,' Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told the Daily Mail Saturday. 'It doesn't seem like she was following them. I think she just she came up on them and then hit the car,' Saucedo continued. 'So it looked like she tried to manoeuvre to go around it, but she was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there.' The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department didn't immediately respond to Page Six's request for comment. Hutchins died on Wednesday after suffering a fatal ATV crash while driving near Jenner's condo in Malibu, California. She was 29. The manager was operating the ATV when she reportedly hit the bumper of a moving car, a gray 2016 Mazda 6. The impact catapulted her and the ATV down a 350-foot ravine. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the accident. Footage captured by a KCAL News chopper later that day showed a blue ATV laying on top of an upside-down vehicle that had previously crashed in the same spot. The new crash details come shortly after Jenner shared she was going through 'tough times' following her longtime friend's passing. The former athlete, 75, broke her silence on Hutchins' death when the Daily Mail spotted her on a Starbucks run Thursday. The ex-Olympian declined to speak further with the outlet. Jenner and Hutchins were introduced through their mutual hairstylist in 2015 — the same year Jenner came out as transgender. Hutchins previously claimed Jenner's coming out story inspired her to move forward with her own transition. After two years, Hutchins began living with Jenner and became her manager.
