Hyderabad:
Telangana BJP
president N Ramchander Rao on Monday accused the Congress govt of misleading the public and attempting to shift blame onto the Centre over the issue of Backward Classes (BC) reservations.
He demanded an apology from the state govt for what he described as a 'betrayal' of the BC community.
Addressing his first press conference in Delhi, Rao cited the landmark Kesavananda Bharati case to argue that laws placed in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution are still subject to judicial review. "Even reservations implemented by the former Jayalalithaa govt in Tamil Nadu, though placed under the Ninth Schedule, are still pending in court.
The Supreme Court reaffirmed this in the 2006 Kohli versus Tamil Nadu case," he pointed out.
He accused the Congress of using legal complications as an excuse to delay local body elections while wrongly blaming the Centre. Rao urged the state to study the Madhya Pradesh model, which allows reservations above the 50% limit by using villages as units for calculation.

"The BJP strongly opposes any political reservation on the basis of religion. If they want to increase BC quotas, they must first amend section 285 of the Panchayat Raj Act. So far, no one has even seen a copy of the ordinance," he said.
He criticised the Congress leadership for what he called political neglect. "Chief minister Revanth Reddy has visited Delhi 46 times in the last 19 months, but Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders have not met him even once.
In contrast, PM Modi and Union ministers have," Rao said. "Rahul Gandhi's refusal to meet Telangana CM is an insult to the people of Telangana," he added.
Meanwhile, Rao dismissed talk of factionalism in the state BJP. "There is no old-versus-new group. Some are creating this narrative intentionally. If anyone lacks discipline or damages the party, action will be taken. As state president, I will address such issues in coordination with the national leadership," he said.

PM Modi Most Popular Democratic Leader With 75% Approval Rating: Survey

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the world's most popular democratic leader with a 75% approval rating, according to a recent global survey conducted by US-based data analytics firm Morning Consult. The survey, which reflects public sentiment collected between July 4 and 10, 2025, shows PM Modi well ahead of his global counterparts. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung followed with a 59% approval rating. Argentine President Javier Milei secured the third spot with 57%. The survey uses a rolling seven-day average to assess opinions among adult populations in each country. It is part of Morning Consult's ongoing Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker, which regularly measures the popularity of various democratic leaders. According to the report, only 18% of respondents disapproved of PM Modi's leadership, while 7% remained undecided or gave no opinion. PM Modi, who secured a third consecutive term in May 2024, continues to enjoy a dominant position in global rankings, reflecting both his domestic popularity and growing international recognition. US President Donald Trump, who returned to office last year, was ranked eighth, with only 44% expressing approval. As per reports, recent policy decisions, including controversial trade and domestic initiatives, may have affected his standing. Here's a look at the top 10 names from the survey: Narendra Modi (India): 75% approval, 7% no opinion, 18% disapproval Lee Jae-myung (South Korea): 59% approval, 13% no opinion, 29% disapproval Javier Milei (Argentina): 57% approval, 6% no opinion, 37% disapproval Mark Carney (Canada): 56% approval, 13% no opinion, 31% disapproval Anthony Albanese (Australia): 54% approval, 11% no opinion, 35% disapproval Claudia Sheinbaum (Mexico): 53% approval, 7% no opinion, 40% disapproval Karin Keller-Sutter (Switzerland): 48% approval, 24% no opinion, 28% disapproval Donald Trump (United States): 44% approval, 6% no opinion, 50% disapproval Donald Tusk (Poland): 41% approval, 11% no opinion, 49% disapproval Giorgia Meloni (Italy): 40% approval, 6% no opinion, 54% disapproval This recognition for PM Modi also coincides with another milestone in his political journey. As of July 26, 2025, he has completed 4,079 days in office, surpassing Indira Gandhi to become India's second-longest serving Prime Minister in an uninterrupted term. PM Modi is behind only the country's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. He is also the first and only non-Congress leader to have completed two full terms and been re-elected twice with a majority. This makes him the only non-Congress Prime Minister to independently secure a majority in the Lok Sabha.

With events across state, SP renewsresolve to protect quota, Constitution

Lucknow: To renew its "resolve to protect the reservation system enshrined in Indian Constitution", the Samajwadi Party functionaries on Saturday assembled in large numbers across the state to observe July 26 as the Samvidhan Mansthambh Divas. Party workers attended special events organised to outline the ways and means that the BJP government has devised to subvert the right to reservation and constitutional frameworks to undermine the rights of the oppressed and exploited sections of the society. The party leaders across the state cited outsourcing of government jobs as a major onslaught on right to reservation. They explained in detail to people how the BJP has devised the "Not Found Suitable" option to deny jobs to PDA community members in various universities, colleges and institutes. They also cited how the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls for Bihar elections was another covert attempt of the BJP to change the Constitutional practices in use since Independence. Party's national president Akhilesh Yadav mooted the idea of observing July 26 as the Samvidhan Mansthambh Divas and had called upon the party functionaries to hold events to inform the masses how their right to reservation was being curtailed by the present BJP government by impeding constitutional provisions. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Remember Him? He said Samvidhan Mansthambh Divas encapsulates the spirit of PDA Prakashsthamb which is about lighting up the path for the Pichhde (backward classes) Dalits and Alpsankhyaks (minorities) to reclaims their rights as enshrined in the Constitution and which they were being deprived of by the BJP in a systematic manner. SP MP from Azamgarh Dharmendra Yadav, who was the chief guest of the Samvidhan Mansthambh Divas event held in Jaunpur, called upon the PDA community to come forward to help save the Constitution and protect reservation. In Mainpuri, SP MLA from Karhal Tej Pratap Yadav chaired the event and urged the "oppressed sections of the society" to rise and voice their concerns by dislodging the BJP from the government. Senior party functionary Rajpal Kashyap, who chaired one of the most largely attended event of the day held in Shahjahanpur, underlined the evolution of PDA since the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He said the PDA needs to stay together in the days to come and take on the BJP and its attempt to deprive the neglected lot its due. In Lucknow, former MLC Dr Madhu Gupta, MLA Arman Khan and district president Faqir Siddiqui addressed the gathering and underlined the need to voice concerns against BJP's attempts to subvert constitutional traditions.

So far, these courts have been set up in nine districts, addressing and resolving 677 grievances. The State Commissioner's office has received a total of 594 complaints, comprising 503 complaints in 2024-25 and 91 complaints so far in 2025-26.
