Naqvi assures investors of Pakistan's safety
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured foreign investors that Pakistan remains a safe destination for investment and emphasized that the government is committed to protecting them at all costs.
According to a press release issued by the ministry on Sunday, Naqvi met with a delegation of foreign investors in Lahore to discuss measures for ensuring their security. The minister acknowledged the delegation's concerns and assured them that the government would take necessary actions to address these issues.
"Pakistan is a safe country for all types of investments," Naqvi said. "The protection of investors is a top priority for our government, and we will fulfil our responsibility of safeguarding them at all costs."
He further stated that the government has already taken proactive steps to protect investors and has initiated "strict action" against violent miscreants.
"Action is being taken against these individuals in accordance with the law," he said, adding, "A strategy has been developed to prevent such incidents from in the future".
The press release, however, did not specify any particular incident.
While Pakistan has actively sought to tap into its natural resources and encouraged foreign investment across various sectors, persistent security challenges in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa continue to pose serious risks. In recent years, several attacks have targeted foreign nationals.
Earlier this month, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir also pledged a comprehensive security framework to protect the interests and boost the confidence of Pakistan's partners and investors in Balochistan.
The army chief made these remarks while addressing the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025, a two-day event promoting mining and mineral investment opportunities across all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Naqvi dispels Zardari removal rumours
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has dismissed rumours about the possible removal of President Asif Ali Zardari, stating that some people are uncomfortable because politicians, the government and the military stand united. "For the first time, politicians, the government and the military establishment are on the same page, and that bothers certain individuals. These people are spreading such stories," Naqvi, who does not belong to any of the ruling parties but is regarded close to Zardari, said on Saturday. The country's top security czar was responding to the query of a journalist during his visit to Sukkur. When asked about rumors that Zardari is being removed from the presidency and a new constitutional amendment is being introduced, Naqvi urged the media to avoid engaging in politics for just two days, the 9th and 10th of Muharram. "Please do not believe social media rumors. Some people are disturbed by our unity," he added. Naqvi noted that 2,700 Muharram processions are being held across the country with the largest one taking place in Sukkur on Saturday. "Credit goes to the entire team for successfully managing the country's largest procession. All processions will conclude peacefully by evening," he added, When asked whether the federal government is aware of the situation in the Sindh districts of Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Kandhkot, where dacoits pose a threat to security, Naqvi replied in the affirmative. "Yes, we are aware. And just like we pushed terrorists out of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, we will deal with the dacoits in Sindh as well. The federal and provincial governments will jointly take care of the issue."

Muharram processions: Strict security arrangements enforced in ICT
ISLAMABAD: Strict security arrangements have been enforced in Islamabad for the 9th Muharram processions, with Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Chairman CDA, and DG Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa personally overseeing the preparations. During a surprise visit to the Central Imambargah Asna Ashri in G-6, the officials reviewed the arrangements and assessed the on-ground situation. A foolproof security plan—devised on the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi—is being implemented in coordination with CDA, Islamabad Police, and the district administration. The procession route has been fully cleared, and a large contingent of police personnel is deployed for security, the Chief Commissioner said. According to Randhawa, Safe City cameras are providing uninterrupted surveillance of the procession. Sanitation, drainage, and emergency teams have also been deployed along the route to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
