Viral track 'Lasik' sparks clear success for HEY JUNE!

Article Inside Page How the rising indie rock band HEY JUNE! turned an underground fave into a mainstream streaming sensation: IF you've been scrolling through TikTok or Instagram reels lately, chances are you've heard the slick, addictive hook of 'Lasik,' the breakout single of the Filipino indie rock band HEY JUNE! Originally released in 2023, 'Lasik' took off this year and is being featured on videos by popular creators such as Bini, Sharlene San Pedro, Zild, Adie, and even Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition alumni Shuvee Etrata and Bianca De Vera. By June 2025, the track had claimed the #1 spot on the Spotify Philippines Viral 50 chart, powered by thousands of TikTok users and fan-created reels. The song also landed on Billboard Philippines' charts in early July 2025. Part of their debut album Curiosity Killed the Cat, 'Lasik' joins standout tracks like 'Orasan' and 'Asan Ang Gana Ko' - each showcasing the band's tight songwriting, raw energy, and magnetic presence. The album was named one of Billboard Philippines' Top 15 Albums and EPs of 2023, with production support from Eunice Jorge of Gracenote. Formed in June 2021 at the height of the pandemic, HEY JUNE! is composed of Jim Mase (vocals/guitar), Coey Ballesteros (bass), and Aci Fodra (drums). The band's name is a nod to the month their musical journey began. With a sound that fuses nostalgic pop-rock with a modern, youthful edge, the group has steadily built a loyal fan base. In 2023, they were named Breakthrough Artist Of The Year at the 36th Awit Awards, and in 2024, they released a well-received cover of Tears For Fears' 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World.' They've since taken their live act around Metro Manila, performing at major stages including: REV Music Festival at UP Sunken Garden with Imago and Gracenote; Fusion: The Philippine Music Festival with Bamboo, SB19, KZ Tandingan, and Ben&Ben Malaya Music Fest 2025 at Okada Manila, headlining with legends Kamikazee, Sandwich, and Silent Sanctuary; and 25 Years Of Torete as an opening act for Moonstar88 at Eton Centris. Last June 29, the band hosted the HEY JUNE! grand eyeball at UP Town Center, where supporters showed up in full force. The well-attended event became a celebration of the band's viral success and growing fanbase, proving just how connected they are with their audience. With over 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, HEY JUNE! is fast becoming a household name and with 'Lasik' leading the charge, they're showing no signs of slowing down. All eyes are on HEY JUNE! And as they continue their rise, fans and industry watchers alike are eagerly tuned in for what comes next
