Olly Murs booed by crowd as he makes admission and asks 'shall I go'
Olly Murs had the Liverpool crowd eating out of the palm of his hand during a performance at the M&S Bank Arena earlier this week. The 41-year-old chart sensation took his 15 Years Of Hits tour to the docks on Thursday.
After a solid fifteen years since Murs first stepped into the public eye with an X Factor audition that left the nation in awe, he was seen delivering smooth vocals on a rendition of Stevie Wonder's Superstition. From his days winning the hearts of judges and viewers alike, Olly still commands a loyal following.
A sea of the Murs Army filled the Bank Arena as the singer-songwriter commemorated his time in music with a high-spirited country-wide tour. With a repertoire spanning 15 years, it would be simple for Murs to let his well-loved tunes speak for themselves.
At one point in the show, Olly invited his band to "embarrass" him, by projecting an unknown picture in front of the crowd. He told fans: "On this part of the show, I have absolutely no idea what is about to appear on that screen", reports the Liverpool Echo.
His Scouse fans watched on as a photo of Olly touching Liverpool FC's famous This Is Anfield sign prompted a split reaction, as cheers from Liverpool FC fans clashed with boos from Everton supporters. But, Olly swiftly brought all sides together when he disclosed that his loyalties actually lie down the M62, admitting: "Of course, this will probably get the biggest boo of the night. I am a Manchester United fan."
To a cacophony of jesting boos, a chuckling Olly then playfully suggested: "Shall I go?" But the audience clearly wasn't keen on ending the night there – they cheered for him to carry on, leading him into another chart-topping track.
Olly kicked his hit-filled setlist with Troublemaker, serenading them through two hours of his best known songs. The pop sensation turned 41 this Wednesday and marked the occasion by belting out a medley of 80s classics, celebrating the era of his birth.
Having come a long way from his days as a cover singer, Olly had fans ecstatic to hear original hits including Heart Skips a Beat and Wrapped Up, alongside the timeless tunes. The gig took an emotional turn when Olly performed Dear Darling.
The poignant track was dedicated to his late friend and X Factor co-presenter, Caroline Flack. Sharing with the audience, he confessed: "I genuinely think about her every day."
He continued: "I know that feeling of losing someone that you love very much. With this song, I want you to think of those people and sing with me."
As thousands of phones illuminated the arena, fans joined in an unforgettable rendition of the 2012 ballad, creating the night's most memorable moment. While this tour marked his 15-year journey in the music industry, Olly gave his fans a sneak peek into his future plans. He performed his new single, 'Save Me', exclusively for the audience, hinting at what's next for him.
Describing the song as the beginning of a "new Murs era", it's clear from the crowd's reaction that they're excited about what lies ahead. He reminded the recruits to think about why they were there and suggested they take things "seriously". Louie piped up: "I wanna do an immediate withdrawal. I just don't have the conviction and I feel as though I'm not dedicated enough," he said as he removed his armband. Chris gave him the chance to put his arm band back on, but Louie refused, so Chris said: "Get your kit." In a previously-filmed confessional, Louie, 56, had said: "I'm a survivor, I would keep battling to survive. I think the worst way for me to leave the course would be to choose to leave. That would really p*** me off," but just seconds later, it was confirmed that he had indeed quit the show." Prior to his swift exit, Louie had sung the praises of the directing staff on the programme, as he said: "I actually looked at them and thought, 'oh, my God', because what they do and what they've done is incredible. I could never do that for real. "Do you know what I mean? They are a different breed, like doctors and surgeons and things like that. So I did look at them in that sense and think that what they really did in their day job was incredible." And when asked for asked with what he struggled most with, he admitted: "Definitely the physical side of the course. "Even though I've struggled with my anxiety and depression, mentally I was in a really strong, good place. It wasn't about an individual which they made very clear at the beginning, it was about the group. I love being a group player, I love being with people. But in that scenario, in the reality of it when I was there, I didn't think I was capable of being a group player."

There was also bingo, a Greatest Showman circus - with firebreathers, hula hoopers and a family quiz, while tribute band Oasish paid homage to rockers Oasis in the tent, amid Noel and Liam Gallagher's comeback tour. There was a whole dedicated section to keep the kids busy, with a full fun fair, rides, a silent disco and even a Bluey, Peppa Pig and Bing meet and greet. The little ones were also able to enjoy some downtime in front of the a big screen playing children's films throughout the day. Advertisement If you fancy taking some time out, many headed to the Retreat zone which ran from the morning to mid afternoon, offering Thai massage workshops, south baths and yoga which will leave you feeling zen. The weather did pick up and those who wanted to get an dose of Ibiza headed to O beach, a premium pop up space with everything synonymous with O Beach including iconic round pool beds. There was even hot tubs and a dance floor with dancers putting on a immersive shows throughout the day. The quality of food vendors at the festival made the experience even better knowing we could grab some delicious food and drink without having to leave the venue. Advertisement We tucked into some piping hot jacket potatoes, freshly made pizzas, and mac and cheese with loaded fries and chicken. And if you thought you'd be waiting hours for some nosh, then you'd be pleasantly surprised to know that queues were quick and efficient. Five reasons to visit Together Again Festival The music has something for everyone, if you want your cheesy pop tunes, your more electric beats, some chilled out country vibes or some throwback beats, then you'll love this. The food is reasonably priced and has a variety - from Greek food, to noodles or Italian, there is something delicious that will keep you full and happy The venue and location is breathtaking and when your attention is not on the stage, then it will be on the gorgeous scenery and the Bolesworth Castle in the backdrop Perfect for all ages whether you're a toddler or over 80. The organisers have really catered for everyone. If you fancy taking some time out you can head to the Retreat zone or if you want a mini rave then Agora tent is for you. There was also baby sensory class, science fun and circus school for the little ones. Chester perfect place to explore if you've got a few hours spare between acts. Cheshire Zoo is around a 25mins drive from Bolseworth Castle and has over 37,000 animals from over 500 incredible species. The city centre also has an array of food spots, stunning architecture and Chester Cathedral is a must visit, with plenty of history. Party-goers who wanted to get up on stage themselves headed to the Wonky Lizard for a bit of Barrioke, while you could rave from morning to night with electric dance music in the Agora tent. And those who wanted to throw things back to the 90s, boogied on down to the Rewind stage, where So Solid Crew, Ultrabeat, Sonique, East 17, Phats and Small and Soul Town performed some bangers. Advertisement But my favourite had to be the Ranch stage. If you're a Taylor Swift fan and love your country music, this is the perfect little spot where you can don your cowboy boots and straw hat while chilling out on haystacks and sipping on a cold beverage. Singers Emilia Quinn, Fanny Lumsden and Shellyann were exceptional as they belted out smooth tunes and well known tracks. While the Whiskey Brothers performed some incredible covers and finished with an impressive medley - even dropping hits from Eminem and 50 cent into their round-up.
