UFC's Bo Nickal delivers X-rated message to haters after first loss: 'Suck my d*ck'
Bo Nickal appears to be taking his first professional loss in stride, but he also has a nasty message for anyone enjoying his setback.
Nickal (7-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) suffered the first loss of his MMA career at UFC on ESPN 67 when Reinier de Ridder finshed him in the second round after a series of hard strikes in the second round. The wrestling talent didn't have much to offer de Ridder outside of grappling and appeared a few levels behind in the striking department.
Nickal says he hasn't watched the fight in full yet because he has a pretty clear recollection of what went down, including returning to his stool after Round 1 thinking the fight wasn't going in his direction.
"I'll watch that fight back at some point, but I look at it as just a blueprint of what not to do," Nickal said on his YouTube channel. "So, that's a massive plus because I can't look at it and say like, 'Well, I did everything I could and he got me.' It was like – I did in my effort-wise, but the mistakes that I made were just so obvious to me. Fixable, obvious mistakes. And I think he's a great guy, he's a great opponent, so he forced me into those mistakes, and I didn't correct, or I didn't adjust. That's what you have to do if you want to be the best in the world."
Nickal's hype as a national champion wrestler led him to become a massive betting favorite in his MMA fights, and until the fight against de Ridder, he proved the oddsmakers correct. He started out his UFC career with back-to-back first-round finishes, followed by a second-round stoppage win. However, the competiton started to get stiffer, and he would go the distance with Paul Craig in his fourth UFC fight. Then the first career loss came against de Ridder, a former two-division champion under the ONE Championship banner.
"I never wanted to be an undefeated UFC champion," Nickal stated. "I never said that. You can go look back and clip out interviews and stuff like that. My goal has never been to be undefeated. I was totally aware that losses were very, very possible and likely. ... The goal isn't any different. I just want to continue to get better and improve. I want to find out how good I can be, and really it's leaning on God's plan for me more so than my own."
Now that the zero is gone from his loss column, Nickal can continue to proceed without the pressure of maintaining an unblemished record. He said he doesn't intend to be a fighter who loses more than he wins, but being someone who has experienced losses and bounced back from them is something fans can relate to more than an undefeated champion.
For the fans that don't relate and would rather send him hate, Nickal didn't mince words.
"All the negative, for me, I look at that and all I say is just like, suck my d*ck," Nickal said. "At the end of the day, say what you want. But when I get back on top and I'm the freaking champion of the world, you all will come crawling back. They always do. And I'll spit right in your face.
"... That's how I'll treat you guys. And every single one of you that says a bad thing, I have the memory of an elephant."

Brendan Allen 'over and done with' Marvin Vettori beef after UFC 318 win
Brendan Allen has no interest in continuing to beef with Marvin Vettori. NEW ORLEANS – It looks like the rivalry between Brendan Allen and Marvin Vettori has come to an end, at least for one party. Allen (25-7 MMA, 13-4 UFC) and Vettori (19-8-1 MMA, 9-7-1 UFC) had plenty of bad blood heading into their middleweight bout at Saturday's UFC 318, which took place at Smoothie King Center. The two had gone back and forth in trash talk, and had even gotten into a brawl on the casino floor of the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Fla., prior to locking horns in a professional context. Allen, who defeated Vettori by unanimous decision, wants to move past their feud – but he isn't too sure the feeling is mutual. "I just told him, our problems aside, that my heart goes out to him and his family," Allen revealed what he told Vettori after thir bout. "My brother had his accident and he totally lost his brother, so I can't imagine the pain it feels to fully lose your brother. I didn't lose mine, fully, but it still hurts. His coaches started talking sh*t and told me to get the f*ck out of his face. It's just people sticking their nose between two grown men. I don't have any bad blood with him. He can say whatever he wants before and after, that's on him. He's a grown man. I'm a grown man with kids. It's just business to me. We fought. It is what it is. I think I totally won, if you don't, which he probably won't, yeah, for me, it's over and done with." With this result, Allen was able to snap a two-fight losing skid and get back in the win column. He's open to take on any top contender next, and wants to work his way back to title contention. "There's still so many fights that can come," Allen said. "We'll see what happens with the UFC, what they want from me. (Jared) Cannonier. MVP (Michael Page), Roman (Dolidze), Fluffy (Anthony Hernandez) – which is Fluffy wins he's going to continue going up, obviously. He just beat me in that decision. You have Caio (Borralho), (Nassourdine) Imavov, Sean Strickland is still sitting out there. You have a lot of fights. I don't know. We'll see what the UFC wants and what's next."

Daniel Cormier: Max Holloway painted 'a masterpiece' vs. Dustin Poirier at UFC 318
Daniel Cormier thinks Max Holloway fought the perfect fight at UFC 318. Holloway (27-8 MMA, 23- 8 UFC) retained his BMF title by outlasting the retiring Dustin Poirier (30-10 MMA, 22-9 UFC) in Saturday's main event at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Holloway had Poirier in trouble a couple of times and outstruck "The Diamond" over the course of the fight. Cormier was very impressed with Holloway's performance. "Max Holloway fought an unbelievable fight," Cormier said on his YouTube channel. "He truly did paint a masterpiece. He was out there moving, he was out there off the center line, he was out there landing, and he really did show that there's a lot of tread on the tire, and a lot of opportunity for Max to be in contention at 155 pounds. "His combination punching is as good as we have seen from Max Holloway forever. His power was on display again. He hurt Dustin Poirier twice early in the fight. The one knock on Max Holloway before was that it took so much for him to break his opponents down." Holloway was able to rebound after suffering the first knockout loss of his career to lightweight champion Ilia Topuria last October at UFC 308. Cormier now sees "Blessed" in the 155-pound title picture. "Max Holloway is still very viable in this weight class, and I believe that he's dangerous to a lot of guys at 155 pounds," Cormier said. "But the activity was the same. The cardio, the pace, the movement – it was vintage Max Holloway. So, congrats to Max on being the first person ever to defend the BMF title."
