BJP working on restoring peace, installing popular govt in Manipur, says Biren Singh
Former Manipur CM N Biren Singh has said that the BJP is constantly working towards restoring peace and installing a popular government in the state at the earliest. Singh was talking to reporters after attending a state BJP meeting held on Saturday, chaired by A Sharda Devi, the state BJP president.
'BJP's main objective and concern is to restore peace in the state and install a popular government in Manipur. We have also approached the central leaders many times for the same. Given the current situation in Manipur, we are confident that the central leaders would soon install a popular government. For more than seven months there have been no reports of any hostility between communities. Peace is gradually returning to Manipur,' said Biren Singh.
The former CM said that people are realising the threat posed by illegal immigrants and drugs in the entire region, including Manipur.
State BJP president, A Sharda Devi said the state BJP has informed the central leaders about the strong desire of the people to have a popular government in the state at the earliest. 'We believe the Centre will do the needful very soon,' she said.
Manipur was placed under President's Rule on February 13 days after Biren Singh resigned as the chief minister. While the state legislators had on several occasions met the Governor of Manipur to form a new government, there has been no significant breakthrough.

KTR slams Shah for inaction over Cong's corruption allegations
Hyderabad: In a scathing attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao has demanded to know why the BJP-led Centre has failed to order an investigation into the corruption allegations against the Congress government in Telangana. Reminding Shah of his own earlier remarks in Nizamabad—where he labelled the Revanth Reddy-led government an 'ATM' for the Congress high command— Rama Rao questioned, 'Why hasn't the Union Home Minister acted upon it? What is stopping the Centre from initiating a probe through the CBI or ED?' Alleging a covert understanding between the BJP and Congress, KTR stated, 'In Delhi, they stage a mock fight. In Telangana, they strike secret deals. Is BJP shielding Revanth Reddy because it cannot take on BRS alone?' He recalled that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had once accused the Congress of running a 'RR Tax' scam in Telangana, yet no investigation was initiated. 'If you only make allegations during visits but allow Congress to loot in broad daylight, what message are you sending to the people?' he asked. The BRS leader also took strong exception to what he described as an orchestrated campaign to defame the Kaleshwaram Project, a landmark irrigation initiative that he said played a pivotal role in making Telangana the top rice-producing state in the country. 'It is unfortunate that a landmark initiative like Kaleshwaram is being targeted purely for political gain,' he said. On the BJP's developmental record in the state, KTR noted, 'Despite having eight BJP MPs and two Union Ministers from Telangana, not a single project has been given national status. He also ridiculed the Centre's repeated 'launches' of the Turmeric Board, pointing out that Union Minister Piyush Goyal had already virtually inaugurated it earlier this year. 'Now Amit Shah is cutting ribbons for the same office set up in a building constructed by former CM KCR. Not a single rupee was allocated in the budget. Even a permanent building has not been sanctioned,' he said. KTR further accused the BJP of betraying Telangana through multiple actions, including scrapping the Bayyaram Steel Plant—meant to provide employment to tribal youth—cancelling Hyderabad's ITIR project, which would have been a game-changer, and pushing forward Andhra Pradesh's Banakacharla project while curbing Telangana farmers' water rights. He also cited the privatisation of operations at the Kazipet Coach Factory, thereby dashing youth employment hopes in Warangal. 'Since coming to power at the Centre, BJP has treated Telangana with hostility. The people have rejected them before and will continue to do so,' said KTR.

Faith, culture, and votes: Pilgrimage diplomacy begins in Hazaribagh
Haxaribagh, June 29 (UNI) Blending spiritual reverence with social outreach, MP Manish Jaiswal today launched the Sansad Teerth Darshan campaign in Hazaribagh—a unique initiative aimed at enabling elderly citizens from his constituency to embark on sacred pilgrimages. The campaign began with the ceremonial departure of 180 senior citizens from the revered Narsingh Baba temple in Khapriyawan under Katkamsandi block. In a moment filled with symbolism and cultural gravitas, Jaiswal and BJP state organisational secretary Karmveer Singh washed the feet of pilgrims before they boarded buses, a gesture that transformed politics into a deeply personal act of service. 'This is more than just a yatra. It's a son fulfilling the spiritual dreams of his elders,' Jaiswal said. The first batch of pilgrims—residents of Khapriyawan, Nawada, and Banha villages—will undertake a five-day journey to Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj (Sangam), and Vindhyachal. All pilgrims were dressed in traditional yellow attire, and their send-off included Vedic chants, bhajans, flower showers, and tilak ceremonies, lending a deeply devotional air to the event. Sharma traced the roots of pilgrimage from ancient scripture to present-day relevance, underscoring its enduring social value. From incense to rain, and sacred chants to disciplined coordination, the atmosphere embodied what one attendee described as 'governance with a soul.' The scale and tone of the event suggested more than just religious facilitation—it was an act of what might be called pilgrimage diplomacy: connecting with voters not through speeches, but through shared values, intimate gestures, and cultural touchstones. As politics across India becomes increasingly transactional, Jaiswal's campaign is notable for returning to something elemental—faith, community, and respect. Whether this shapes electoral outcomes or not, it certainly deepens the relationship between a representative and the represented. In a landscape where symbolism often trumps substance, Sansad Teerth Darshan attempts to unite both.
