Tirupati: SOS Children's Village Tirupati celebrated SOS Children's Villages India Day today to commemorate the 106th birth anniversary of its founder Dr Hermann Gmeiner. The event highlighted the organisation's unwavering commitment to the care and development of vulnerable children and families.
IIT Tirupati Registrar Dr KP Krishna Kumar took part as chief guest and appreciated the impactful work being carried out by SOS Children's Villages in Tirupati and across India, particularly in the areas of alternative care, education, and family strengthening. He emphasised the importance of community-based childcare models and encouraged continued collaboration between academic institutions and social organizations. Chairman of Manavatha Sangam N Bhargava, Rotary club chairman Ravi Kumar and Village Director of SOS Children's Village Tirupati Paresh Bydakar also participated in the event. It also featured cultural performances by children, storytelling on Dr Hermann Gmeiner's life and mission, and a tribute to the values of love, security, and respect that guide SOS's work.

Tirupati: IIT Tirupati organised an Open House event on Saturday for students who qualified in JEE Advanced 2025, providing them and their families a comprehensive insight into the institute's academic programmes, campus life, and career opportunities. The initiative was aimed at helping prospective students make informed choices as they consider joining the prestigious institution. The event drew an enthusiastic response, with approximately 60 participants attending in person and another 120 joining virtually. The Director of IIT Tirupati, Prof KN Satyanarayana, addressed the gathering, delivering an extensive overview of the institute. He spoke in detail about IIT Tirupati's infrastructure, its state-of-the-art facilities, and the ongoing campus development. Prof Satyanarayana elaborated on key aspects of the undergraduate curriculum, including options for dual degrees and the institute's branch change policy. He also highlighted the various avenues available for research and collaboration with industry, along with the strong support systems in place for career development and placements. Following the Director's address, an interactive session was held with parents, many of whom participated in hybrid mode. The session offered a platform for them to ask questions and understand more about the academic and support environment at IIT Tirupati. The event concluded with a guided campus tour, allowing students and their families to explore the institute's facilities firsthand. Deans, Heads of Departments, and faculty members participated in the event.

In an interactive session with the parents who joined in hybrid mode, Prof. Satyanarayana clarified doubts and shared insights into the institute. After the session, the parents and students went on a campus tour, exploring the facilities and getting a feel for life at IIT-Tirupati.
