Tamkeen launches new programme to support digital transformation
The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) announced the launch of a new programme to support digital transformation for Bahraini SMEs in partnership with Zoho, a leading global technology company.
The programme will provide enterprises with access to Zoho's solutions for a period of two years. This includes a license to utilize Zoho's operating system for business, Zoho One, which offers over 50 integrated apps for business management, which will significantly enhance digital transformation efforts for these enterprises. The platform also offers a wide range of features including customer service management tools, sales automation, HR and finance management, marketing management, data analysis tools and more.
On this occasion, Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) stated: 'this agreement with Zoho is aligned with our commitment to empowering Bahraini SMEs to embrace technology and transform digitally to enhance their productivity and sustainability. We do that by partnering with large international and local entities that can enable digital transformation. Furthermore, we believe that digital transformation in various enterprises across the Kingdom will provide quality opportunities for Bahrain's tech talent and enhance the Kingdom's position as a regional tech hub ready to attract investments from all over the world'

Bahrain: Court Restores Marital Home To Husband After Sham Sale To Ex-Wife
A man has won back ownership of his home after the High Civil Court ruled that a BD270,000 property transfer to his ex-wife was a sham intended only to protect the asset. The court found that the sale contract between the couple was not genuine and ordered the house to be returned to the husband's name. The decision followed the submission of a signed statement from the ex-wife, confirming that the sale was only on paper and that her husband had remained the rightful owner throughout. The statement, dated 21 February 2010, was presented by the man's lawyer, Zuhair Abdullatif. The court deemed it legally binding, noting that the ex-wife neither denied her signature nor challenged the content. Under Bahraini law, a private document stands as valid unless its signature is explicitly denied. The man had purchased the home in early 2010 but soon faced financial difficulties. To protect the property, he transferred it to his wife's name in a fictitious sale, trusting she would safeguard it. Just one day after the transfer, the property was registered in her name. Less than a year later, she divorced him through khula, a form of wife-initiated divorce. Despite efforts to resolve the matter privately over the years, the ex-wife refused to return the property and even threatened to sell it. The man eventually took legal action, presenting the court with his ex-wife's written admission that the deal had been for formality only. In its ruling, the court referred to precedents set by the Court of Cassation, affirming that in sham transactions, the true intent of the parties takes precedence over the registered deed. If it can be proven that a transfer was only symbolic, actual ownership must be honoured. The court concluded that the sale was not real and ordered the Survey and Land Registration Bureau to remove the ex-wife's name and reissue the property deed in the husband's name.

Bahrain: Man Refuses To Repay BD2,500, Court Sides With Ex-Wife
A man who accepted BD2,500 from his wife to cover dowry, wedding expenses, gold, and household furnishings — only to later abandon the marriage — has been ordered by a Bahraini court to return the full amount. The verdict came after the woman filed a civil case through her lawyer, AbdulAdheem Hubail. She told the court that the money was given to her then-husband in instalments during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when many weddings were postponed and financial difficulties were common. According to the breakdown provided in court, BD1,000 was intended for the dowry, BD600 for the wedding ceremony, BD700 was raised from selling her gold, and BD200 was spent on furnishing their shared home. Despite receiving the funds, the man later walked away from the marriage and denied owing his wife any money. As evidence, the woman submitted her bank statement showing transfers made to him. The court referred the case for further investigation to verify the debt. A second witness, found credible by the court, confirmed that the woman had lent the man the money in stages while he was unemployed. The man had reportedly acknowledged the debt on several occasions and promised to repay her once he found work — a promise he never fulfilled. The court noted that the bank transfers went uncontested. Combined with the witness testimony, the judge ruled there was sufficient proof of the debt and ordered the man to repay the full BD2,500 to the woman.

Bahraini Teens Explore Future Careers at 'The Takeoff' Expo in Riffa
More than 120 high school students from across Bahrain took their first step toward building their future at 'The Takeoff' – a special career and university exhibition hosted by the AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation on Saturday. Held at the foundation's new headquarters in Riffa, the event welcomed students aged 16 to 18 to discover career paths, explore local university programs, and attend hands-on workshops – all designed to help them make confident decisions about their academic and professional futures. The event was held in the presence of Her Highness Shaikha Zayn bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Foundation's Board of Trustees. Also attending were the Minister of Social Development, Osama Al Asfoor, and the Southern Governor, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa. Foundation CEO Sabah Yousif Seyadi opened the event by welcoming guests and students, saying: 'This isn't just an exhibition – it's a launchpad for dreams. We want to help young people make informed, thoughtful choices as they plan their futures.' She stressed how important it is to prepare students for a fast-changing job market, noting that many of the jobs they will one day take don't even exist yet. 'That's why events like this matter – they give students the knowledge and confidence they need to move forward,' she said. Supported by the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), the exhibition featured three main areas: Assessment Zone – In partnership with Education Zone, students took personality and career interest tests to help them identify fields that fit their talents. University Zone – Eight Bahraini universities presented new academic programs and spoke directly with students about their options. Workshop Zone – Students attended interactive sessions on in-demand topics like cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, architecture, and digital banking. One popular session was led by Mubasher Capital. Noura Shuraida from MKF Connect, the foundation's marketing partner, called the expo a milestone event: 'It was designed to be practical, inspiring, and informative – and from what we've heard from students, it delivered exactly that.' Many students said they appreciated the clear, friendly guidance and real-world insights. For some, it was their first time speaking directly with university representatives or professionals in fields they hope to join one day. As the day came to a close, students left with new ideas, clearer goals, and a renewed sense of excitement about the future. 'This event helped me feel more sure about what I want to study,' said one 17-year-old participant. 'It really opened my eyes to what's possible.' 'The Takeoff' marks the start of more youth-centered initiatives from the Foundation, all aimed at helping young Bahrainis take confident steps toward bright futures. .
