Formula One: Piastri wins Belgian GP, extends championship lead - Omni sports
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc came third as Piastri stretched his lead in the drivers' standings over Norris to 16 points.
Heavy rain delayed the 13th round of the season by 80 minutes, with organisers eventually allowing a rolling start after four laps behind the safety car as the sun finally appeared.
Pole sitter Norris was quickly passed by Piastri as Norris complained he had a problem with his car's battery.
Piastri then produced a controlled race from the front to lead home McLaren's sixth 1-2 of the season.
"I knew lap one was going to be my best chance of winning the race," said Piastri.
"Rest of race we managed really well," the Australian added.
"Oscar did a good job, nothing more to say," said Norris.
Max Verstappen, winner of Saturday's sprint, took fourth in Laurent Mekies' first race weekend as Red Bull team principal after the sacking of Christian Horner a fortnight ago.

Formula One: Delayed start at Belgian Grand Prix highlights F1's challenge with racing in the rain - Omni sports
Of all the thousands of pieces of equipment that Formula 1 hauls around the world, few are used less often than the full wet tire. They stayed piled up in stacks, not on the cars, on Sunday as drivers sat out a rain delay of more than an hour to the start of the Belgian Grand Prix. It wasn't because F1 cars lack grip in heavy rain. Manufacturer Pirelli says the full wet tires can cope with that. The problem is that drivers behind can't see through the spray, and the first attempt to start Sunday's race on time illustrated the problem. Even crawling around at formation lap pace with only Lando Norris and the safety car ahead, eventual winner Oscar Piastri said he 'couldn't see a thing,' adding, 'you can only imagine what it's like for the guys at the back.' When the race started, it was behind the safety car at low speed before the all-clear to go racing. Like all of the drivers, Piastri was using the intermediate tires, which are recommended for light rain or a drying track, when he eventually passed Norris for the win. 'The past few years, particularly here, we've given the (governing body) FIA feedback that we would much rather be on the safe side than risk anything,' Piastri said. 'If you were to be picky, maybe we could have done one less formation lap (behind the safety car), but in the grand scheme of things, if that's one lap too early, is it worth it? No.' Visibility is a particular concern at Spa, a fast track with a history of serious accidents. They include Anthoine Hubert's death in a Formula 2 crash in dry conditions in 2019 and another fatal accident claiming the life of Dutch teenage driver Dilano van 't Hoff in a junior series in the rain in 2023. 'I have to say that on a track like this, with what happened historically, I think you cannot forget about it. For that reason I would rather be safe than (start) too early,' said Charles Leclerc, who finished third Sunday and who was friends with Hubert since childhood. Tennis: Fernandez dominates Kalinskaya to win DC Open - Omni sports
Canada's Leylah Fernandez produced a dominant performance to defeat Russia's Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets and win the WTA Tour's DC Open in Washington on Sunday. The 22-year-old bagged the first WTA 500 victory of her career and her first title since 2023 to win 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour. The win completed a fairytale week for Fernandez, the 2021 US Open finalist who had beaten top seed Jessica Pegula and former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina on her way to the fourth title of her career. Fernandez said she had grown in belief throughout her campaign. "In the beginning of the tournament (there) was still a lot of doubt, but as the tournament progressed, I was starting to play better," Fernandez said. "I have gone through so many different challenges this week. I think it has just made me stronger in a way, that if I can get through this week -- through the cramps, through the long matches, through the heat and humidity -- I can get through anything." Fernandez got off to a blistering start, dominating Kalinskaya's serve to take the opening set in just 30 minutes. After three holds left Fernandez 2-1 up, the breakthrough came in the fourth game with Kalinskaya's serve looking increasingly vulnerable. The Russian was soon in trouble at 15-40 down, and then double-faulted to hand Fernandez the break and a 3-1 lead. Fernandez was having no such difficulty on serve and held comfortably for a 4-1 lead before going on to attack Kalinskaya's serve in the sixth game. The Canadian held two break points at 15-40 and duly converted the second for a 5-1 lead, lasering a backhand return to leave Kalinskaya rooted to the spot. A delicate drop shot at the net gave Fernandez the set in the next game. The second set mirrored the first, with Fernandez grabbing an early break to seize the initiative at 2-1 before breaking again soon afterwards for a 4-1 lead. The next two games went with serve but Fernandez made no mistake when serving for the match, converting the second of two match points. Fernandez will head to Canada for this week's WTA 1000 Canadian Open in Montreal, where she is anticipating a tougher test. "Montreal is a whole different monster," she said. "It's a bigger draw, longer tournament. It's going to be start from zero."
