Gupta emphasised the importance of purpose-driven communication, explaining how brands can rise above mere profitability and create lasting connections with consumers by standing for values that matter. He highlighted how purpose must go beyond seasonal campaigns, becoming the core of a brand's identity.
Gupta stated, 'Once the purpose is adopted, it must become the very reason for the brand's existence—deeply connected to its future and consistent over time. The reason for being cannot change with the changing season.'
Adopting a purpose beyond profits can transform a brand, making it more credible and difficult to imitate. When a brand commits to a societal goal greater than its commercial interests, it rises above competitors. Such a brand is seen as genuine, while others attempting to mimic its purpose appear as mere copycats, ultimately fostering a loyal customer base.
Gupta noted, 'When people believe in the same thing as the brand, they become its promoters, sharing it with friends and family. This leads to long-term loyalty, with customers staying beyond products and services.'
In the past, advertising was simpler—limited to television, print, and radio—where ads reached audiences whether they were relevant or not. But the digital age has transformed this entirely.
Gupta explained, 'With digital marketing, we are bombarded every day with thousands of ads tailored to us, making the clutter very difficult for brands in commodity spaces to stand out.'
Today's consumers seek brands that share their belief systems and demand responsibility. Newer brands have an advantage here, as they are free from the baggage of legacy and can more easily align with a clear purpose. In contrast, legacy brands often struggle, being tied to traditional ROI-driven marketing and historical narratives that may not reflect a new purpose.
However, whether new or established, a brand's purpose must be genuine and visible in everything it does. If a brand fails to live up to its purpose, it risks losing trust and facing backlash from consumers.
Gupta remarked, 'The brand must deliver and demonstrate its purpose because if today the customer sees that the brand is not delivering or is doing something opposite to the purpose, it gets badgered online. We have seen many brands taken down on socials for propagating one thing and doing something else.'
Modern consumers don't just listen—they observe. They want brands to demonstrate their commitment to their stated purpose. When a brand genuinely lives its values, customers notice and become advocates, sharing their experiences organically. This user-driven content is far more powerful than any traditional marketing, building trust and credibility in a way ads cannot.
Gupta pointed out, 'If you have KPIs that can measure the impact of the purpose you are driving, it becomes easier to convince your customers that the brand is genuinely passionate about the purpose.'
In the near future, the most trusted brands will be those that stand for clear values—not just those focused on driving commercial benefits. Such brands go beyond profit-making, earning customer loyalty through authenticity and purpose. This commitment to values is the key to sustainable growth, as customers remain loyal to brands they genuinely believe in.

Odisha leads in Q1 private capex

Total investments in these projects at ₹3.5 lakh crore, however, more than doubled from Rs 1.4 lakh crore a year earlier, the data states dominated the investments, accounting for 85.7% of the newly-announced projects. Delhi govt directs Labour Dept to make changes to allow women to work in night shifts
The Delhi government has directed the Labour Department to make necessary changes to allow women to work in night shifts--but only with their consent, Raj Niwas officials said on Tuesday. Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena, along with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the status and progress of various aspects related to the flagship schemes, 'Ease of Doing Business' and 'Maximum Governance - Minimum Government', enunciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Restrictive and archaic laws, processes and regulatory regimes had hampered and discouraged businesses and economic activities, Saxena observed. Saxena and Gupta asserted that progress during the last 11 years was "far from satisfactory". Difficulty in doing business had led to a situation wherein, industries and businesses had shifted to other states at the cost of Delhi, Gupta said. Live Events A slew of directions were issued to re-engineer the government processes. The Labour Department was directed to take immediate steps to allow women employees to work in night shifts, after taking their consent and also ensure all safeguards by amending the Delhi Shops and Establishment Act and by issuing suitable notifications under the Factories Act, the official said. The department was also directed to amend Delhi Shops and Establishment Act to increase the threshold of the minimum number of employees from one to 10 for applicability of the Act and to allow shops/establishments to work 24x7. Directions were also issued to increase the threshold of workers from 100 to 200 in the Industrial Dispute Act for seeking permission for closure, the official added. The Delhi Fire Department was asked to empanel agencies for a third party audit. "Large commercial and industrial establishments may be allowed to get NOC on audit certificate of empanelled agencies. Small establishments may be given an option for third-party audit. An expression of interest can be floated immediately," the official said. It was also stressed that the Delhi Pollution Control Committee should reduce the time to give consent to operate to 20 days, after which it should be a deemed approval. "DPCC should allow self-certification for MSME in both green and white industries. It may empanel third-party agencies for certifications," he added. Several sections and provisions of the Delhi Land Reforms Act, including Section 81 and 33, being implemented by the Revenue Department, were proving to be detrimental to farmers in the city, by way of making transfer, sale of land and mutation almost impossible, the official said, adding the department was asked to take a fresh look at the Act and specific provisions. The Information Technology Department was instructed to make a single-window portal for all kind of NOCs. It was decided that the implementation of these directions will be reviewed on a regular basis by the LG or the chief minister and should be completed within six months, the official said.

Behind the coaching boom: Are students paying the price for false promises?
India's coaching industry has become a huge market, worth over Rs 54,400 crore in 2024, and is expected to almost triple by 2033. Students from big cities like Delhi and Kota, as well as small towns, join coaching centres with hopes of clearing competitive and government exams. But the truth is, this growing industry is mostly unregulated, which causes a lot of problems for students and though the coaching business is large, it is filled with misleading ads, fake promises, and unclear teacher qualifications, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Many families, dreaming of a better future, get attracted by flashy claims like '100% success guaranteed' or 'India's No.1 Institute.' But most of these promises are not backed by real small towns, where families spend their hard-earned money on coaching, falling for such promises can be a big mistake. Some centres use pushy sales tricks, like fake discounts or referral offers, and treat education like a product to be sold, not a service to support students. In some cases, students are even sent to certain hostels or colleges because coaching centres get a commission, not because it is best for the Many of these centres also lack transparency. They do not let students attend regular classes before enroling, avoid letting them speak to past students, and often mix batches for different exams, which lowers the quality of these issues, the government introduced new guidelines for coaching centres in January 2024. Coaching centres are now banned from enroling students below the age of 16. Always ask for real data and talk to former tactics over teaching: If the centre offers discounts, referral bonuses, or limited-time deals, it might be treating education like a product to sell, not a place to demo classes: Some centres show only polished demo classes instead of real, ongoing lessons. A trustworthy institute will let you attend regular classes before access to current or past students: If they don't allow you to talk to other students, it could mean they are hiding batches: Putting students preparing for different exams in the same batch is confusing and reduces the quality of tie-ups: If a centre pressures you to join specific hostels or colleges they have deals with, be careful. The focus should be on what's best for the from smaller towns often feel cheated after spending their savings on centres that promise a lot but deliver little. This is why it is imperative that all the red flags are looked into thoroughly before enrollling for a coaching centre OF TIME, MONEY, MENTAL HEALTHMany students waste years and money on coaching classes that do not meet their size matters a lot.
