Hong Kong will be hit by heavy showers and squally thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather forecaster on Sunday.
The nine-day forecast by the Hong Kong Observatory showed that it will be mainly cloudy on Monday with some isolated showers at first. The temperature will be between 24 and 29 degrees Celsius (75 and 84 Fahrenheit). There will be sunny intervals on Tuesday.
It said a fresh easterly airstream is set to affect the Guangdong coast over the next couple of days, with a southerly airstream expected to replace it on Wednesday. The weather will become unsettled from Wednesday onwards, bringing mainly cloudy conditions with heavy showers and squally thunderstorms.
'A trough of low pressure will move southwards and edge closer to the coast of southern China gradually. There will be heavy showers and squally thunderstorms over the region later on Wednesday and on Thursday,' it said.
The forecaster added that the trough of low pressure will persist in the vicinity of the northern part of the South China Sea during the latter part of the week, resulting in scattered showers across the region.
