EV charging points approved for 20 car parks
The points would be located at council-run car parks, aimed at residents with no off-road parking, the authority said.
The £2.5m project was being funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and was the first phase in improving infrastructure for electric vehicles across the region, a spokesperson said.
Councillor Moses Crook, the council's deputy leader and cabinet member for transport and highways, said: "These new chargers mean that if someone wants to make the switch to an electric vehicle, it will be a more practical option."
Installation of the charging points was expected to begin later this year, the council said.
Meanwhile further expansion into on-street locations was planned for later phases of the scheme.

Crook said the pilot scheme was "a critical step in making electric vehicles more accessible".
"We know many households without off-street parking are currently limited if they have an electric vehicle," he added.
The initiative was also part of the local authority's plan to become net zero and "climate ready" by 2038, a spokesperson said.
Councillors had previously heard that chargers would need to be installed in three priority locations before the others could be put in.
These were on Spring Wood Street in Huddersfield, New Street Car Park in Honley and Shaw Cross Community Centre in Dewsbury.
EV points would then be installed in Batley, Birstall, Dewsbury, Holmfirth, Huddersfield, Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike, Netherton, Denby Dale, Cowersley, Skelmanthorpe, Emley, Liversedge and Moldgreen.
The council said although it did not intend to charge for the use of parking bays while charging, the authority or EV leaseholders may eventually decide to introduce a payment or require a permit for the bays in future.

Housing scheme submitted after three refusals
A builder has put forward plans for five new houses, despite having three previous applications and an appeal rejected. John Sawdon wants to build four three-bedroom terraced homes and a bungalow on the site at 12 Carlton Road in Filey. His previous scheme, which was refused last spring, proposed seven dwellings, which Filey Town Council said would have resulted in "poor amenity for the residents". The project would also see the demolition of a builder's yard and electrical depot, which currently occupy the site. No date has been set for a decision to be made on the fresh proposal. Newly submitted plans for the development near Filey town centre state the "spacious terraced houses" would have "adequate external space and modern grouping design". The application also states the buildings would be constructed of brick "to reflect the locale". Last year, planning officers expressed concerns about a proposed large area for car parking, which they said would "create an environment dominated by vehicles". According to the updated proposal, all 12 parking spaces would be located on-site "so there would be no increase in existing or current traffic movements". The Highway Authority has already reviewed the updated scheme and has recommended "the existing access track be tarmacked, as with the proposed parking area, to provide a clear and suitable access route to the site". According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service a condition has also been proposed, stating that none of the properties can be occupied "until the related parking facilities have been constructed in accordance with the details approved". Leisure centre refits nearing 'ambitious' target
Two leisure centres in Lincoln are on course to reopen in time for the school summer holidays, a council leader has said, following what she described as "amazing" refits. Yarborough and Birchwood leisure centres closed suddenly on 3 April after Active Nation, the charity that ran them, ceased trading. Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) was appointed by the City of Lincoln Council in May as an interim operator for a period of two years. Council leader Naomi Tweddle said: "It's a really ambitious date, but we are trying to stick to it. It's imperative that we get people back in the leisure centres." She added: "I've always thought the leisure centres were important, but I think a spotlight was really shone on that when they were closed. "I'm just delighted that, fingers crossed, they will be open very soon. "They're going to be amazing, they've had a complete refit." The council said the refurbishment would include new fitness equipment and showers, a refit of the changing rooms and new flooring. Chris Ord, partnership manager at GLL, said people would be able to register their interest online for a membership, though the costs were yet to be finalised. "We see Yarborough and Birchwood as great opportunities – they're really good centres in the heart of Lincoln and we need to make sure we bring them back to life and get them back used by the community," he said. The organisation was still looking to recruit more lifeguards and fitness instructors, Mr Ord added. Lincolnshire schools are due to break up for summer on 23 July. At the time of the leisure centre closures, Active Nation, a charity based in Warwickshire, blamed "the ongoing utility crisis and the challenges it has created" for the decision to cease trading. The council said it had offered the charity a support package of almost £500,000 over two years, with conditions attached, but this had not been taken up. Faulty M62 bridge joints 'a surprise for everybody'
A National Highways manager has said newly fitted joints on a bridge that turned out to be faulty came as "a surprise for everybody". Drivers have faced more than two years of delays since repairs to the M62 Ouse Bridge, near Goole, started in March 2022. Eight damaged joints that took more than two years to fix now need to be replaced as a "precautionary measure". Phil Jepps, programme delivery manager at National Highways, said it was "difficult to say" when the bridge would be fixed and finally free from repairs. Mr Jepps told BBC Look North: "It's not what [I] or anyone else expected. "The joints were completed in October and in the early hours of the Monday morning a member of the public reported that part of the joint plate had been detached." Mr Jepps said the manufacturer and installer of the joints had visited the site and said it was "something that they've never seen before". "It is quite a surprise for everybody that this has actually happened," he added. He said the issue was being investigated thoroughly and that National Highways was working closely with the principal contractor. Mr Jepps confirmed that National Highways and the taxpayer "won't be footing the bill". The motorway remains open with three lanes but further lane closures will be put in place to ensure all the other joints are fine, he said.
