From ‘Gladiator' to ‘La La Land' – here are the 10 most overrated films of 21st century

Whether it's forced 'Oirishisms' or the rampant cliches, these duds rode the wave of hype It's easy to get caught up in the moment and let your emotions run away with you. Just ask anyone who paid €600 for Oasis tickets only to realise they were sick of hearing Wonderwall and that it was going to be impossible to get a babysitter anyway. Belated buyer's remorse is just as much a feature of the big screen, where mediocre films are often heralded as masterpieces in the moment. It's only afterwards, when the hype has died, that we can admit to ourselves that a supposed 24-carat classic is actually a tin-plate clunker.

Fair City sets up a Sunday shock for Carol

Carol is left reeling in Sunday's Fair City on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player. The drama involves a reference to Billy Meehan, Carol's late gangland husband. Domestic abuser Meehan was clubbed to death by Carol's son Lorcan in November 2001 in a gripping Fair City storyline. On Sunday, Carol introduces Liam to her new love interest, JJ. "No need for introductions," says Liam. "We already know each other." "We used to play football together in St Agnes's Green," Liam continues. "Until you ditched us to hang out with that Meehan guy..." "Billy Meehan?" says a terrified Carol. "That's it! Billy Meehan," replies Liam. Fans can watch what happens next on Sunday on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player at 8:30pm.
