Jon Bon Jovi dragged into dispute over $65 million mansion

Jon Bon Jovi has been dragged into a property dispute after he reportedly refused to sell his $US43 million ($A65 million) mansion to a mysterious buyer who's snapping up properties in the sought-after area. According to the Wall Street Journal, an anonymous buyer has 'been quietly assembling one of the most valuable private estates' in Palm Beach — which sits mere minutes from President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. So far, the unnamed buyer has forked out $US250 million ($A380 million) on four separate homes in the Florida enclave in recent months. The estate is said to include a $US178 million ($A271 million) piece of prime oceanfront land that was initially put on the market by cosmetics mogul William Lauder — who is heir to the Estée Lauder fortune — in 2023 for $US200 million ($A304 million), as well as two separate homes that sit across the street from that plot. Sources told the Journal the unidentified real estate mogul is far from done with the spending spree. The buyer is said to already have their sights set on another investment property: a Mediterranean-style mansion that sits alongside their newly acquired waterfront land. The home is owned by the 'Livin' on a Prayer' singer. The acquisition of the rocker's dwelling would provide the buyer with one of the most sizeable waterfront properties in Palm Beach — made all the more impressive by the addition of the two properties that sit directly behind it. Yet, the apparent real estate scheme has reportedly hit a major snag with Bon Jovi, who is said to have 'resisted overtures to sell his property'. Property records seen by Realtor indicate the seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom home was last purchased in July 2020 for $US43 million ($A65 million) via an LLC — of which Bon Jovi's longtime business manager Charles Sussman was listed as the manager. The home had originally been listed for $US44.9 million ($A68.3 million) in January of that year and was described as a 'stunning direct oceanfront estate' complete with a workout room, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, private in-home elevators, and two oceanfront loggias, as well as a separate pool cabana. Bon Jovi's home sits directly to the left of the Lauder land that was reportedly purchased in February of this year in an off-market deal. Sources told the Journal the buyer paid close to the reduced asking price of $US178 million ($A271 million) for the plot. The land was originally purchased by Lauder in two separate deals. The first acre was bought up in 2020 for $US25.4 million ($A38.6 million), one year before the businessman added the second 1.8-acre property for an undisclosed sum. Initially, the two plots had been home to two separate oceanfront mansions, which Lauder demolished to make space for his own enormous dwelling. However, he shelved those plans and opted to put the vacant land on the market. In addition to that expansive plot, the anonymous buyer is said to have also picked up two dwellings that sit directly behind it, although neither dwelling ever came on the market. Property records show that one of those homes was owned by Thomas Harvey and his wife, Cathleen Black, who bought the dwelling for $US4.2 million ($A6.3 million) in 2018. Though Realtor estimates the home is now worth around double that, the Journal reports that the buyer paid a staggering $US18 million ($A27 million) for it. Mr Harvey told the outlet in an email that the person made an 'unsolicited offer' on his house — while adding that he does not know their identity. Days later, the dwelling next door to Mr Harvey's property was also sold, this time for $US30 million ($A45 million), according to the Palm Beach Daily News, having previously been registered to a trust. That home, which was also purchased in an off-market deal, had last traded hands for $US5.3 million ($A8.07 million) in 2017 and was last linked to an LLC. Both properties, per the Palm Beach Daily News, were most recently purchased via LLCs that are registered in Delaware: Creekshore LLC and Mango Leaf LLC. According to The Real Deal, discussions about the potential purchase of Bon Jovi's home are still ongoing, despite the singer's reluctance to part ways with his property. The buyer is also said to have begun conversations about buying the home that sits on the other side of the Lauder land. That home is currently owned by casino mogul William M. Rickman Jr., who purchased it in 2016 for $US13.1 million ($A19.9 million). Built in 1935, the property boasts six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, as well as water frontage. Though the identity of the buyer has not yet been confirmed, sources have claimed to the Real Deal the person believed to be behind these multimillion-dollar deals is Microsoft mogul Charles Simonyi, who spent years working alongside Bill Gates. Gates' name was also thrown into the mix of potential buyers, along with former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, suggesting the deals all have strong ties to the computer company. All three men boast incredibly impressive property portfolios, and each owns at least one dwelling in the popular Seattle enclave of Hunts Point, Washington State which is widely considered to be something of a haven for billionaire tech moguls.

Rare glimpse inside Jennifer Aniston's home life

Jennifer Aniston has given fans a rare glimpse inside her life at home. Taking to Instagram, the 'Friends' star posted a series of photos taken in her two California properties. The 56-year-old actress shared several shots of herself spending time with her celebrity pals, while wishing her 44.5 million followers a 'happy Monday', Realtor reports. Among the A-listers featured in the images were Aniston's close friend — and former co-star — Courteney Cox, as well as 'Will & Grace' actor Sean Hayes. The Golden Globe winner also posted a snap of her dog, Lord Chesterfield. In the photo, the star lounged on an outdoor couch with her pup, whom she rescued in October 2020. Aniston is currently the proud owner of two California dwellings: a midcentury modern property in Bel-Air, which she purchased for $US20.1 million ($A30.5 million) in 2012. The other is a Mediterranean-style farmhouse in Montecito, which she bought from fellow A-lister Oprah Winfrey for $US10.5 million ($A15.9 million) in 2021. Images obtained by Realtor in March revealed that 'The Switch' actress was carrying out extensive renovations on her farmhouse property. Photos showed that the dwelling had undergone a stunning overhaul, which included the addition of a new pool area. Those images revealed that construction was very near completion, suggesting that Aniston might have since moved into the dwelling. Although, she has not yet revealed whether she plans to use the Montecito abode as a full-time residence or a weekend getaway. It appears that at least one of the photos featured in Aniston's Instagram post might have been taken at her newly renovated dwelling. The image shows the actress' pet dog Clyde lounging in the entryway to a property, which features the same heavy-set wooden door as Aniston's Montecito property. The pup can be seen lying next to a hedgehog toy behind a welcome mat that reads: 'The babe cave.' Aniston also reminded fans of her close bond with Cox in the images, with one snap showing the longtime friends hugging while donning matching loungewear and standing together in what appears to be a kitchen. Other photos saw Aniston posing along with producer Kristin Hahn in front of her cozy fireplace, and hanging out with her friend Andrea Bendewald in a beautifully decorated living room. Meanwhile, Aniston's candid selfie with close friend Hayes appears to have been taken during an evening on the town — and saw a third person carefully blurred out by the actress to protect the anonymous pal's privacy. Lastly, Aniston showed a picture of the gorgeous sunset over the water. The candid into her personal life comes nearly two months after an elderly man was arrested after intentionally crashing through the gates of Aniston's Bel-Air property while she was home. Police were called to the star's Los Angeles home around 12pm on May 5 for a possible burglary, according to local news channel KTLA. The 'Horrible Bosses' actress was at home at the time of the shocking incident, and the intruder has been identified only as a white male in his 70s, TMZ reports. The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that a security guard on-site held down the elderly man until they arrived. TMZ reported that Aniston's security team rushed over to the driver and restrained him at gunpoint immediately following the incident. Upon arrival, police officers took the man, who has a minor criminal history, into custody without any issues. According to ABC News, the incident was not an accident. However, it doesn't appear that Aniston was targeted. The LAPD's Threat Management Unit has taken over the case to err on the side of caution. According to KTLA, the retractable arm on Aniston's gate was broken off as a result of the crash. Following the incident, the LAPD revealed that 'there was a victim who was home at the time, who was not injured.' Aniston has been very discreet about her personal residence, a 10,186-square-foot, midcentury modern mansion on a 3.27-acre lot in L.A.'s Bel-Air neighbourhood. The prestigious estate, built in 1968 and designed by architect A. Quincy Jones, is hidden behind tall hedges and high gates, ensuring maximum privacy for Aniston, who used the home as the location for her 2015 wedding to Justin Theroux. The couple divorced in 2018. records indicate she paid $US20,970,000 ($A31,875,000) for the marvellous manse and estimates it's now worth anywhere from about $US18 million ($A27.3 million) to $27 million ($A41 million).

Michael Madsen, Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill star, dies at 67

Michael Madsen, the actor best known for his coolly menacing, steely eyed, often sadistic characters in the films of Quentin Tarantino including Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill: Vol. 2, has died aged 67. Madsen was found unresponsive in his home in Malibu, California on Thursday morning and pronounced dead, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Watch Commander Christopher Jauregui said. He is believed to have died of natural causes and authorities do not suspect any foul play was involved. Madsen's manager Ron Smith said cardiac arrest was the apparent cause. Madsen's career spanned more than 300 credits stretching back to the early 1980s, many in low-budget and independent films. He often played low-level thugs, gangsters and shady cops in small roles. Tarantino would use that identity, but make him a main character. His most memorable screen moment may have been the sadistic torture of a captured police officer — while dancing to Stealers Wheel's Stuck in the Middle with You — as Mr Blonde in 1992's Reservoir Dogs. He would become a Tarantino regular, appearing in the Kill Bill films and The Hateful Eight. He had a small role as the cowboy-hatted desert dweller Budd, a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, in 2003's Kill Bill: Vol. 1, then a starring role the following year in the sequel, in which he battles with Uma Thurman's protagonist The Bride and buries her alive. Madsen also appeared in Tarantino's The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time … In Hollywood. He was an alternate choice to play the hit man role that revived John Travolta's career in 1994's Pulp Fiction. The character, Vincent Vega, is the brother of Madsen's Reservoir Dogs robber in Tarantino's cinematic universe. "In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions and 'Cookbook for Southern Housewives, and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life," his managers Smith and Susan Ferris and publicist Liz Rodriguez said in a statement. They added that he "was one of Hollywood's most iconic actors, who will be missed by many". During a handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in November 2020, Madsen reflected on his first visit to Hollywood in the early 1980s. "I got out and I walked around and I looked and I wondered if there were some day some way that that was going to be a part of me. And I didn't know because I didn't know what I was going to do at that point with myself," he said. Madsen was born in Chicago to a family of three children. His sister is Oscar-nominated Sideways actor Virginia Madsen. He performed on stage with Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company alongside actors including John Malkovich. His first film role of any significance was in the 1983 hacker thriller WarGames with Matthew Broderick. The following year he played pro baseball player Bump Bailey alongside Robert Redford in The Natural. He spent much of the rest of the 1980s doing one-off guest roles on television dramas including Miami Vice and Quantum Leap. In 1991, he had a career boost with roles in The Doors, where he played a buddy of Val Kilmer's Jim Morrison, and Thelma and Louise where he played the boyfriend of Susan Sarandon's Louise. Then would come Reservoir Dogs. In 1995, he played a black ops mercenary in the sci-fi thriller Species and in 1997 he was third billed after Al Pacino and Johnny Depp as a member of a crew of gangsters in Donnie Brasco. He occasionally played against type. In the 1993 family orca adventure Free Willy he was the foster father to the orphan protagonist. Madsen would return to smaller roles but worked constantly in the final two decades of his career. AP
