Plenty of opportunities at Johor job fair
The event has attracted a steady stream of visitors eager to explore job opportunities, receive career advice, and access professional development resources since its opening yesterday.
The two-day event, which ends today, features 16 companies and agencies representing a diverse range of industries.
In addition to job openings from entry-level to managerial positions, the fair also offers on-the-spot interviews, career talks and skills enhancement sessions designed to support personal growth and employment readiness.
Among the key exhibitors are Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd, Eco-Shop Marketing Berhad, and UMW Toyota Motor.
Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd's recruitment head Ahmad Firdaus Ab Halim urged the public, especially job seekers, to visit its booth to learn more about the takaful industry.
'We are always looking for takaful consultants, and we have a support programme called the Elite Development Programme (EDP), which is designed to develop and groom young, emerging talents to succeed as wealth planners and future leaders, regardless of their background. It is open to those aged between 20 and 55.
'Our consultants can benefit from monthly financing between RM2,000 and RM5,000, as well as other rewards, including overseas trips to destinations such as Zurich, Istanbul, Surabaya and even for Umrah,' he said, adding that the minimum educational requirement is a SPM certificate.
As a Platinum Sponsor of the event, Prudential BSN was presented with a certificate of recognition by Star Media Group senior manager (events and exhibitions) Elaine Wong.

Eco-Shop Marketing Berhad was also acknowledged as the event's Bronze Sponsor, with the certificate received on behalf of the company by its staffing solutions manager, Natalie Lim.
Lim said the myStarJob Fair 2025 was the company's first participation in a job fair held in Johor Baru, a city that has seen strong economic growth in recent years.
'As a public-listed company, our target is to open 70 stores annually, and I would say that Johor Baru is one of the key areas we are looking to expand into.
'Currently, we have a total of 378 stores nationwide with almost 9,000 employees. As we plan to open more stores, we need more people to join our workforce.'
Another exhibitor, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, has also drawn attention from visitors.
Its engineering department assistant engineer, Muhammad Mirzan Ruzi, said the company has received a positive response from candidates at the fair.
'We are seeing interest from job seekers who want to join us, as we are looking for more manpower for the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project.
'The chances for job seekers, particularly locals, are quite high as we have many positions to fill for the RTS Link project, which connects Johor Baru and Singapore,' he added.
Meanwhile, Mohd Rifqi Hanafi Mohd Shah, 31, said he learned about the myStarJob Fair 2025 through social media and is hopeful about finding employment.
'I was laid off in early May this year. I decided to come to the myStarJob Fair 2025 to submit my resume to companies.
Technician Mohd Mukhriz Azamuddin Husni, 29, who has been working with an engineering company in Pasir Gudang for the past five years, is also exploring new opportunities.
'One of the exhibitors at the fair is a Singapore-based oil and gas company. I want to submit my resume and hopefully get an offer.
'Due to the favourable currency exchange, working across the Causeway is attractive for me, especially as I have a growing family,' he said.
Organised by Star Media Group, admission to the event is free from 11am to 6pm.

Hyatt will also mark the return to the capital with the launch of Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown on August 26, its seventh property in the city. Located opposite the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre and near the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, the new 450-room hotel will anchor the emerging KL Midtown district as a key hub for business and leisure travellers alike. In a statement, Hyatt Hotels Corporation said it plans to expand its luxury and lifestyle portfolio across Asia Pacific, with nearly 90 new properties slated to open over the next five years. Digital Kitchen initiative expands to 10 more PPRs in KL
KUALA LUMPUR: The Dapur Digital initiative is entering its second year by expanding to 10 more People's Housing Projects (PPRs) in the city, following strong sales and growing community engagement. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa highlighted the government's support for community-based social enterprises as Dapur Digital received a RM5 million boost from the Finance Ministry in the 2025 Budget to establish 25 additional locations nationwide. Spearheaded by Pepper Labs, the initiative has surpassed RM1.08 million in total sales since its 2024 launch, with five pilot kitchens empowering B40 communities in KL to generate income through cooking and e-commerce. "So far, the entrepreneurs involved come from five People Housing Projects (PPRs), with around 10 people per PPR. There may be more once their local communities become more engaged," Zaliha told a press conference after the KL Dapur Digital 2025 Keys Handover today. "Ultimately, what we want is for this social entrepreneurship model to be extended to more communities so that in the Federal Territory, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, we are not only talking about physical development but also about human and community development." She said the participants of the programme, which is based on a public-private partnership model, are not only trained in food preparation but also in digital marketing and financial management. The training is also conducted near participants' homes, Zaliha added, enabling convenient access and allowing the kitchens to evolve into community hubs. Dapur Digital is part of the Federal Territories Department's broader strategy to eradicate hardcore poverty under Program Usaha Jaya Insan (PUJI) action plan. In addition to support from government agencies, the initiative sees cooperation from private partners such as Media Prima, Maxis, Brahim's, PPB Group, Shopee, TikTok and Grab Malaysia.

PGB restores gas supply after bypass pipeline completion in key areas
KUALA LUMPUR: PETRONAS Gas Bhd (PGB) has successfully restored natural gas supply to Batu Tiga, Shah Alam, and Connaught Bridge after completing its new bypass pipeline on July 1, 2025. The restoration follows strict safety compliance, including approval from the Occupational Safety and Health Department (DOSH). PGB emphasised its commitment to public safety, noting that natural gas powers 40 to 50 per cent of Malaysia's electricity. The company has reinforced the bypass section in Putra Heights with advanced sensors to detect soil and pipe movement, exceeding standard safety measures. Additional structural supports, including sheet piling, were installed to ensure long-term pipeline stability. A new permanent pipeline is in development, featuring deeper foundations and improved safety mechanisms to withstand ground shifts. The design includes additional shut-off valves for quicker emergency response. Beyond infrastructure repairs, PGB has provided over RM2 million in aid, including RM1.38 million directly to affected families and RM25 million for home reconstruction through the Housing and Local Government Ministry. The company also conducted inspections along the 2,680-kilometre Peninsular Gas Utilisation pipeline using Geopig and Magnetic Flux Leakage technology. No other high-risk areas have been identified.
