‘Maargan' trailer: Vijay Antony investigates a ‘devil' in this unique investigative thriller
The trailer begins to show Vijay Antony as Dhruv, a senior ADGP from Mumbai, who comes to Chennai following the trail of a serial killer with a shocking modus operandi — he injects his victims with a drug that chars their bodies. In an expected turn of events, we see even Dhruv getting injected by the mysterious drug, leaving one half of his body completely charred.
At one point, Dhruv and his team zero in on a suspect named Tamilarivu (Ajay Dishan), who is put in solitary confinement 'to bring out the devil in him.' As Tamilarivu struggles to maintain his sanity within those walls, the final moments of the trailer hint that perhaps calling him a devil wasn't just a figure of speech.
Maargan, previously titled Gagana Maargan, features an ensemble cast including Samuthirakani, Brigida Saga, Mahanathi Shankar, Prithika, Vinodh Sagar, Deepshikha, Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru Archana, Kanimozhi, and Anthagaram Natarajan.
Leo John Paul, an award-winning editor known for films like Soodhu Kavvum, Attakathi, Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum and Indru Netru Naalai, leads a technical team featuring Yuva S as cinematographer and Raja A as art director. John Paul also edits the film, while Vijay Antony has composed the music for the film.
Meera Vijay Antony produces Maargan under the banner of Vijay Antony Films Corporation.

The heart of Tamil Nadu beats with memory and pride this week, as it marks 1,000 years since one of the greatest military expeditions in Indian history — when the legendary Chola emperor Rajendra Chola I marched triumphantly to the Gangetic plains, carrying Tamil valour across northern India and into the annals of world history. The Government of India and the Tamil Nadu Government are both commemorating this millenary moment in different ways — one focusing on spiritual and philosophical heritage, the other on restoration and public history. This is more than a festival. It's a chance to reflect — on who we were, and who we continue to be. What's this historic event all about? Script & Presentation: D. Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office collection day 1 early report: Pawan Kalyan's action drama crosses Rs 18 cr mark; could become actor's biggest opener
Hari Hara Veera Mallu box office collection day 1 early report: Pawan Kalyan's action-adventure drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit, starring Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, finally hit theatres on July 24. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and AM Jyothi Krishna, the film has received a mixed response from critics. However, it opened to strong audience turnout on its first day. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie has already grossed Rs 18.68 crore at the box office. Based on early trends, Hari Hara Veera Mallu might even cross the Rs 20 crore mark. The film recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 54.71% at the box office, with morning shows at 63.52% and afternoon shows at 45.89%. The highest theatre occupancy was reported in the Vijayawada region. Hari Hara Veera Mallu was also released in other languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The Hindi version saw a 13.65% occupancy, followed by 11.24% in Malayalam, 10.59% in Kannada, and 9.54% in Tamil. Hari Hara Veera Mallu is expected to become Pawan Kalyan's biggest opener so far. The actor's 2022 film Bheemla Nayak earned Rs 56.5 crore at the worldwide box office. The movie is facing stiff competition from Bollywood releases such as Ahaan Panday's Saiyaara, and Hollywood films like David Corenswet starrer Superman and Marvel's The Fantastic 4: First Steps. ALSO READ | Pawan Kalyan says he hasn't abandoned Hari Hara Veera Mallu: 'Refrained from promoting films not out of arrogance, but…' An excerpt from SCREEN's review of Hari Hara Veera Mallu read, 'This is a film in which every element, from start to finish, is soaked in artifice and is completely devoid of the agency or emotional intelligence that one might even find in a regular school play. If the completely lacklustre visual effects are one issue, the narrative that piles on one exaggerated moment after another in the name of intensity makes the whopping 163-minute runtime feel almost punishing. The problem lies not just in the film's gaze, but more so in the uninspired visual realisation of the story. Despite the services of seasoned cinematographers Gnana Shekar VS (Krish Jagarlamudi's long-time collaborator) and Manoj Paramahamsa, the visual palette only makes a fleeting impression while the production design mostly resembles a theme-park version of history.' Hari Hara Veera Mallu also features Bobby Deol, Nidhhi Agerwal, Nargis Fakhri, Nora Fatehi and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles. The period drama will be released in two parts, and the second part will be called Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 2 – Battlefield.

Maareesan box office prediction day 1: Maareesan, starring Fahadh Faasil, is set to hit the screens on July 25, and this has created a buzz in the industry. The comedy thriller has become the talk of Kollywood as it will see the Vikram star share screen space with Vadivelu for the second time. They were last seen together in the well received Maamannan (2023). This excitement is set to help Maareesan open to a good response at the Indian box office. Maareesan set to open well in India Fahadh Faasil is in the limelight because of his latest Tamil film Maareesan. According to Ramesh Bala, a trade analyst, the comedy thriller is likely to collect Rs 5 crore (nett) in India on the first day. 'For this film, I feel a collection of Rs 5 crore is possible. Of this Rs 3 crore will come from Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, Kerala will contribute around Rs 1 crore as it is Fahadh's home state,' he told Indiatimes. If this prediction holds, Maareesan will fail to beat Maamannan. The Maari Selvaraj-directed political thriller earned Rs 8.5 crore on the first day and went on to emerge as a commercial success. Maareesan is Fahadh Faasil's fourth Tamil film. He previously appeared in Super Deluxe, Vikram and of course Maamannan. Maareesan OTT release: Where to watch after its run in theatres Maareesan will premiere on Netflix after its run in theatres. The platform acquired its rights a while ago. While the exact date is yet to be revealed, it may premiere on the platform nearly four weeks after hitting the screens tomorrow. This means we can expect it on OTT by the end of August. About Maareesan Maareesan is an upcoming Tamil comedy-thriller directed by Sudheesh Sankar, with Fahadh Faasil in the lead.
