Report: OKC Thunder sign Pittsburgh's Zack Austin as UDFA

USA Today5 hours ago

Just because the 2025 NBA draft is over, doesn't mean teams stop ringing the phones. As soon as the last pick is announced, a whole class of undrafted free agents hope to get signed by an NBA squad with summer league weeks away.
The Oklahoma City Thunder drafted Georgetown's Thomas Sorber with the No. 15 pick and Northwestern's Brooks Barnhizer with the No. 44 pick. Now, they added somebody from undrafted free agency.
The Thunder have signed Pittsburgh's Zack Austin to an Exhibit-10 deal, per Draft Express's Jon Chepkevich. He played in four college seasons from 2021-25. He spent his first two years at High Point and his last two at Pittsburgh.
Austin averaged 9.2 points on 42.4% shooting, 4.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 32 games last season. He shot 38.1% from 3 on 4.6 attempts. He was also a 90.2% free-throw shooter. He tallied 1.6 blocks and 1.1 steals. The 23-year-old is a 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward.
Austin will get a chance to play for the Thunder on their summer league squad. If he impresses enough, he could get added to their G League's OKC Blue roster. The Thunder's summer league schedule can be viewed here.

A day after undergoing surgery for a torn Achilles tendon, Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton took to social media to express the raw emotion behind his injury and summed it all up with one word: 'shock.' Advertisement Haliburton went down early in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was a heartbreaking moment not just for the Pacers, who lost the game 103–91, but for fans who had followed Haliburton's inspiring postseason run. What began as a promising night with three made 3-pointers ended with Haliburton being helped off the court and later ruled out with a torn Achilles. In a deeply personal message posted hours after the injury was confirmed, Haliburton shared how difficult the last 24 hours had been — physically, emotionally and mentally. 'Man. Don't know how to explain it other than shock,' he wrote. 'Words cannot express the pain of this letdown. The frustration is unfathomable.' Despite the crushing outcome, Haliburton made it clear that he has no regrets. He played through a calf injury to be part of Game 7 and said he would do it all over again. Advertisement 'I've worked my whole life to get to this moment and this is how it ends? Makes no sense,' he said. Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered an injury during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals at Paycom Terada-Imagn Images During this year's playoffs, Haliburton averaged 17.3 points and 8.6 assists per game and was often the engine behind Indiana's offense. Still, Haliburton isn't giving up. In the same message, he promised to fight through the recovery and return better, on his terms. 'I don't 'have to' go through this, I get to go through this,' he said, quoting a Bible verse that has helped him stay grounded. 'I'm grateful for the road that lies ahead. Watch how I come back from this.' His longtime girlfriend, Jade Jones, shared her own words of encouragement, calling him 'selfless, brave, and strong.' Former Steeler Has Bold Take Regarding Aaron Rodgers

Former Steeler Has Bold Take Regarding Aaron Rodgers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers have a brand new quarterback in all-time great Aaron Rodgers. But some do not know exactly what to expect from the 41-year-old field general. Advertisement One former Steeler thinks the team could resort to drastic measures if things are not going according to plan. On a recent episode of Nightcap, franchise legend James Harrison said that the team should think about cutting Rodgers and giving some opportunities to their other guys if things are not going well around midseason. "I think they can make it work if they're winning," Harrison said, "If they start losing and it's looking like they're not gonna make above .500, I think it gets real ugly, real fast. To the point where they may just be like, 'you know what, let's let this dude go midseason. For Aaron, let's just get him outta here and put one of these other quarterbacks in.'" Rodgers had one of the more disappointing years of his career this past season with the New York Jets. As a result, some have questioned if he still has it, but his stats were not as bad as one would expect. Advertisement He still racked up 3,897 passing yards and 28 touchdowns on 63 percent completion. He did have 11 interceptions, but that was still not too bad compared to the rest of the league. Rodgers has stated that the 2025 season may very well be his last season in the league, so he will be looking to prove the doubters wrong and leave his mark with the legendary AFC North franchise.
