Report: OKC Thunder sign Pittsburgh's Zack Austin as UDFA
Just because the 2025 NBA draft is over, doesn't mean teams stop ringing the phones. As soon as the last pick is announced, a whole class of undrafted free agents hope to get signed by an NBA squad with summer league weeks away. The Oklahoma City Thunder drafted Georgetown's Thomas Sorber with the No. 15 pick and Northwestern's Brooks Barnhizer with the No. 44 pick. Now, they added somebody from undrafted free agency. The Thunder have signed Pittsburgh's Zack Austin to an Exhibit-10 deal, per Draft Express's Jon Chepkevich. He played in four college seasons from 2021-25. He spent his first two years at High Point and his last two at Pittsburgh. Austin averaged 9.2 points on 42.4% shooting, 4.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 32 games last season. He shot 38.1% from 3 on 4.6 attempts. He was also a 90.2% free-throw shooter. He tallied 1.6 blocks and 1.1 steals. The 23-year-old is a 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward. Austin will get a chance to play for the Thunder on their summer league squad. If he impresses enough, he could get added to their G League's OKC Blue roster. The Thunder's summer league schedule can be viewed here.

Summer camp in Pittsburgh helps teens and young adults serve the community
You don't typically think of summer camps as a place to work or train, but a special initiative in Pittsburgh is giving teens and young adults the skills and knowledge they need for the future. The Project PEACE summer camp is in its fourth year. Organized by the Wilkinsburg Sanctuary Project for Peace and supporting non-profits Hosanna House, Sleeping Octopus, and WCDC Strong Families, the program sends youth out in the community to do service projects — like cleaning, landscaping, waste removal, painting, and beautification — all under the guidance of volunteer professionals in those fields. The young people also learn interpersonal skills and listen to stories from the residents they help. There were 32 participants this year, many of them focusing on jobs in the Wilkinsburg area. Pastor Janet Hellner-Burris is one of the coordinators. "What it means is giving our young people an opportunity to serve in the community, get to know wonderful people," Hellner-Burris said. "And also get them some skills." There were also nine teens in Pittsburgh on a mission trip from Chicago. Dwaune Dudley was one of them. "We [are] showing them we have patience, and we really want to change they narrative on how they think about us." Duquesne University student Theresa Moore said getting out of her comfort zone has been rewarding. "Communicating and basically marketing yourself and networking so you can go on to do bigger and better things," Moore said. During the week-long campaign, all of the campers were also certified in Mental Health First Aid.

Feds seize $573K in fake Rolex watches and designer sunglasses in Pittsburgh
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized than two dozen counterfeit Rolex watches and designer brand sunglasses in Pittsburgh. If the 13 watches and 12 sunglasses had been real, the CBP said they would have been valued at about $573,000. Officers inspected the shipment on April 27 after it arrived from the United Arab Emirates. The CBP said the shipment was destined for a Pittsburgh address and manifested as handbags. Instead, the container had Rolex watches and sunglasses with brand names like Burberry, Chanel and Gucci. Suspecting the goods were knockoffs, the CBP said officers detained them for further review. Trade experts took a look at the products, working with the trademark holders to verify that they were fake. U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 13 counterfeit Rolex watches and 12 pairs of designer brand sunglasses in Pittsburgh. If real, they would have been valued at about $573,000. (Photo: U.S. Customs and Border Protection) The CBP says the international trade in counterfeit consumer goods is illegal. It takes away money from the trademark holders and steals tax revenue from the government. The CBP also funds transnational criminal organizations, and the unregulated products can threaten the health and safety of American consumers. Counterfeiters make goods with "substandard" materials that could break or harm consumers, and the CBP said the products may be sourced or manufactured in facilities that use forced labor. "Unsuspecting consumers could be victimized twice by counterfeit products, such as these fake Rolex watches, because they may end up paying close to authentic prices for cheaper knockoffs, and they'll learn that the product isn't warrantied should it need repair," James Hindes, CBP's acting port director in Pittsburgh, said in a news release. "Customs and Border Protection urges you to protect your families by purchasing authentic consumer products from reputable retailers."

Ben Roethlisberger Makes Clear Choice Between Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers
Ben Roethlisberger Makes Clear Choice Between Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Ben Roethlisberger has chosen his side in a debate over whether prime Aaron Rodgers was better than present-day Patrick Mahomes. Advertisement Mahomes and Rodgers are two quarterbacks who have captivated NFL audiences around the world for many years. During his heyday with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers was among the most feared signal-callers in the league; between 2011 and 2021, he was named NFL MVP four times. During this span, he led the NFL in touchdown passes twice, and he boasted the league's lowest interception rate five times. However, Rodgers' lone Super Bowl win (to date) occurred in 2010, right as he emerged as an elite player. In only seven seasons as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting quarterback, Mahomes has already played in five Super Bowls, with three victories to his name. Mahomes, a two-time MVP, had a "down" year in 2024 despite the Chiefs' 15-2 record. Mahomes failed to crack the 4,000-yard mark for the first time since his rookie season, but he led the NFL in game-winning drives and fourth-quarter comebacks will winning another AFC championship. At 29 years old, Mahomes already has racked up more playoff victories (17) than Rodgers (11) has in his entire career. But Roethlisberger, an icon in Pittsburgh, still thinks prime Rodgers was better than the current iteration of Mahomes. Advertisement "Patrick Mahomes is just now entering out of his prime, I think," Roethlisberger said Wednesday on his podcast. "He'll go down as another arguable GOAT. But I think Aaron in his prime is better." Rodgers only recently joined the Steelers on a one-year contract, entering what is almost certainly his final NFL season in 2025. Only time will tell as to whether Rodgers can propel Pittsburgh to the playoffs, and a first postseason win since Roethlisberger was under center in January 2017, but Roethlisberger is optimistic that Rodgers has plenty left in the tank after two tumultuous, injury-affected years with the New York Jets. "I think you'll get a better Aaron this year," Roethlisberger said. "Just because the thought process of the Achilles, 'what can I do, what can I not do?' I don't think he'll think about it at all." The Pirates announced a new start time of approximately 7 p.m. Advertisement The Mets enter this series after two straight wins to split their four-game series with the Atlanta Braves. David Peterson (5-3, 2.98 ERA) will look to keep the Mets' winning ways going. In his last start, Peterson was roughed up by the Phillies, allowing five runs over four innings in the loss last Sunday. Friday marks the return of Mark Vientos, who was activated off the IL prior to the game. He's starting at DH and hitting in the No. 6 spot for the Mets. The Pirates are sending Mitch Keller (1-10, 4.02 ERA) to the mound.
