Keonjhar: The Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Barbil has been awarded the title of top performing ITI in the eastern zone. The accolade was presented during the 10th anniversary celebration of the Skill India Mission, "Bharat SkillNxt", at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on July 22, a press release said.
Jayant Chaudhary, minister of skill development & entrepreneurship, presented the award to Samarth Verma, director of DTET, and Abhiram Roul, in-charge principal of ITI Barbil. The award recognises the institute's outstanding contribution to skill development and its role in empowering India's workforce.

Varanasi: The Varanasi Development Authority has intensified its campaign to make people aware of the UP Development Authority Building Construction and Development Bylaws-2025, as well as the Model Zoning Regulation-2025. Speaking to TOI after the launch of the awareness campaign, VDA vice chairman Pulkit Garg said that following the state govt's approval of the Building Construction and Development Bylaws-2025, which aims to streamline construction processes, promote green buildings, and encourage vertical growth, the authority in Varanasi has started its promotion. By holding workshops and other events, the agency is highlighting how it will be beneficial for builders and building owners. Concerns generated by provisions like approving maps along with a minimum of 9 meters of existing roads only, in new developing areas, are also being tackled by officials. The first major workshop in regards to this was organised by the VDA on July 24 at the cultural complex Chowkaghat. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has witnessed a sharp rise in the number of schools offering Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a subject. In just five years, the subject has moved from being a small pilot initiative to becoming a noteworthy part of school to the latest data presented in the Rajya Sabha, CBSE-affiliated schools teaching AI in Class 9 rose from just 235 in 2019-20 to 4,543 in an increase of over 1,800%. For Class 11, the number of schools jumped from 80 in 2020-21 to 944 in the current academic year, an increase of over 1,000%. The union minister of state for education, Jayant Chaudhary, shared these figures in response to a question by BJP MP Sujeet minister said that CBSE introduced AI as an optional skill subject in Class 9 in 2019 and in Class 11 a year IN CLASSROOMS: FROM BUZZWORD TO MAINSTREAM LEARNINGThe curriculum was developed with the support of experts from companies such as Intel and IBM, alongside higher education just the number of schools, but the number of students choosing AI has also grown significantly. As many as 285 companies have already registered offering around 16,000 jobs for Alva's Pragati, the mega placement drive being organised by Alva's Foundation, Moodbidri, on August 1 and 2, said Foundation Managing Trustee Vivek Alva on Friday, July 25. Speaking to reporters about the event here, Mr. Alva said the organisers have approved participation by 285 companies while many more were expected to join in the coming days. Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao inaugurates the 15th edition of Pragati on August 1 at 9.30 am at the Vidyagiri Campus of the Alva's in the presence of Moodbidri MLA Umanath A Kotian, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor P L Dharma, Foundation Chairman M Mohan Alva and others. Mr. Alva said the Foundation was conducting the free placement drive since 2007 as its corporate social responsibility initiative to provide job opportunities to deserving rural candidates.
