‘Pakistan stands with Iran': PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed concerns that the US strikes to Iran had targeted facilities that were under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These attacks constituted a serious violation of international law and the IAEA Statute.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian.
The Prime Minister conveyed Pakistan's condemnation of the US attacks, which followed Israel's unprovoked and unjustified aggression over the past eight days. He reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering solidarity with the brotherly people and government of Iran, while expressing heartfelt condolences on the loss of precious lives and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

While noting Iran's right to self-defence, as enshrined under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Prime Minister stressed upon the need to immediately return to dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path forward. He also called for urgent collective efforts to de-escalate the situation. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's readiness to play a constructive role in this context. President Pezeshkian conveyed his deep appreciation for Pakistan's support to Iran. He thanked the Prime Minister, the government and people of Pakistan, including the military leadership, for standing in solidarity with the people and Government of Iran.
The two leaders emphasised on the need and urgency of forging unity among the Ummah at this critical juncture. The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
In a statement Foreign Office issued on Sunday states Pakistan condemns the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities which follow the series of attacks by Israel. We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region. 'We reiterate that these attacks violate all norms of international law and that Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself under the UN Charter,' it states.
The unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran is deeply disturbing. Any further escalation of tensions will have severely damaging implications for the region and beyond. 'We emphasise the imperative need to respect civilian lives and properties and immediately bring the conflict to end. All parties must adhere to international law, particularly International Humanitarian Law. Recourse to dialogue, diplomacy, in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter remain the only viable pathway to resolve the crises in the region.'

The coordinated attack occurred early Saturday morning in Dandi Dir Dawani village of Mir Ali tehsil, where a suicide bomber targeted a military convoy. According to sources, the incident took place at 7:45am during curfew hours imposed due to troop movements. Following the blast, a sanitisation operation was launched in the area. In a separate statement, the ISPR said 14 terrorists were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire. The operation was still ongoing to clear the area of any remaining threats, it added. A relatively lesser-known militant outfit, Aswadul Harb, claimed responsibility for the attack and identified the suicide bomber as a man named Abdullah. The group is reportedly linked to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur network, a faction aligned with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), believed to be operating from safe havens in Afghanistan's eastern Khost province. Israeli strikes on south Lebanon kill three: ministry
BEIRUT: Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon killed three people on Saturday, the Lebanese health ministry said, in the latest attacks despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. In a statement, the health ministry said that an 'Israeli enemy' drone strike on a car in Kunin, south Lebanon, killed one man, adding later that another person was wounded. The Israeli military said the strike 'eliminated the terrorist Hassan Muhammad Hammoudi', who it said was responsible for anti-tank missile attacks against Israeli territory during the recent war. In a second statement later on Saturday, the health ministry said a strike on a motorcycle in Mahrouna, near Tyre, resulted in 'two martyrs and wounded one person', with one of the dead a woman. The attacks came a day after Israel killed a woman and wounded 25 other people in strikes across the country's south. Lebanon says 1 dead, 20 wounded in Israeli strikes in south Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that the woman was killed in an Israeli drone strike on an apartment in the city of Nabatiyeh. Israel says missile launched by Yemen's Houthis ‘most likely' intercepted
The Israeli army said on Saturday that a missile fired from Yemen towards Israeli territory had been 'most likely successfully intercepted', while Yemen's Houthi forces claimed responsibility for the launch. Israel has threatened Yemen's Houthi movement - which has been attacking Israel in what it says is solidarity with Gaza - with a naval and air blockade if its attacks on Israel persist. The Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group was responsible for Saturday's attack, adding that it fired a missile towards the southern Israeli city of Beersheba.
