Classic Rock Guitarist, 74, Reveals He ‘Actually Died' During Recent Operation

The rock world nearly lost Thin Lizzy's Scott Gorham.
Gorham, who joined Phil Lynott's band in 1974, is recuperating after nearly dying on the operating table.
"I had a health issue scare about a year ago with a kidney that had to be removed, and I got sepsis from it," Gorham said on the May 21 episode of Darren Paltrowitz's Paltrocast podcast. "And the second surgeon said I actually died on the operating table and all that. And I was, like, 'Really, man? What the hell is all that about?'"
Though Gorham wasn't a founding member, he's considered an essential part of Thin Lizzy. He was one of the band's "twin lead guitarists" and Scott played on albums like Nightlife, Fighting and Jailbreak (which featured the band's biggest U.S. hit, "The Boys Are Back In Town").
Gorham reformed Thin Lizzy in 1996, 13 years after the band broke up and a decade after Lynott's death. He also played in the Thin Lizzy spin-off band, Black Star Riders, before departing in 2021 to focus strictly on Thin Lizzy.
In November, Gorham discussed putting together "just an absolute kick-[explicative] Thin Lizzy band" together for a tour, but he told Paltrocast that he's not ready to get back on the road.
"And now I had a third operation, and [my doctor] said, 'Maybe you should take some time out and just kind of rehabilitate and all that, get your strength back and all that.' So that's what I'm doing," said Gorham.
"And in the meantime, I've got the drawing to keep me occupied," he said. Last year, Gorham revealed his secret passion as an artist and held his first art exhibition in London.
"[Drawing] is the new thing for me," said Gorham. "It's something that I thought I'd never really do as a constant thing. So I'm kind of enjoying this kind of break from the music right now and going into this little bit of a different direction."
This doesn't mean his music career is over. Scott said that he hopes to "get my buns back out on the road" sometime soon.Classic Rock Guitarist, 74, Reveals He 'Actually Died' During Recent Operation first appeared on Parade on May 23, 2025

Zac Brown and Kendra Scott Are Officially Engaged—Inside Their History

THE RUNDOWN Zac Brown and Kendra Scott kept their relationship private for months before making their public debut in May 2025, and their romance has moved quickly since. The country music star and the jewelry brand founder were 'set up by a mutual friend and are totally in love,' a source told People after their first red carpet appearance. Brown and Scott connected over shared values, including their passion for philanthropy. 'It's just one of the things they have in common,' the insider said. By July 2025, they were engaged. Brown was previously married to model Kelly Yazdi and has five children from his first marriage to Shelly Brown. Scott has three sons from previous relationships and runs a billion-dollar jewelry brand. Here, their full relationship timeline so far. Brown and Scott walked the red carpet together at the American Music Awards in Las Vegas, marking their first public appearance as a couple. Brown, dressed in an all-black suit and wide-brimmed hat, received the inaugural Veterans' Voice Award during the ceremony. Scott wore a silver Maria Lucia Hohan gown. 'Hit the @amas red carpet with the best date by my side,' Brown captioned photos on Instagram. 'Ready to soak it all in and have some fun tonight!' Scott also shared a post: 'What an unforgettable night at the @amas! ♥️ We danced, we laughed, and seeing Zac honored with the inaugural Veteran's Voice Award was the highlight of it all. @zacbrown, I'm so incredibly proud of you—of your heart, your service, and the man you are. You couldn't deserve this more.' On June 5, Scott posted about their visit to Georgia, where Brown grew up. 'The most special day in such a special place!,' she wrote. 'Dahlonega, GA 🤎 Where Zac graduated high school, the place that played such a big part in who he is today, and the backdrop to so many of his songs. He introduced me to his good friend Brad Walker, who does the most gorgeous pottery. I couldn't help but get some mugs and bowls for Yellow Rose Ranch, too. This place is overflowing with charm, meaning, and beauty. If you ever find yourself near Dahlonega, I promise you'll be just as enchanted as I am.' On June 14, Brown shared a sunset photo of himself and Scott on the beach, captioned, 'Grateful for quality time with my lady, fishing, and some flying 🤙🏻.' On June 27, Scott posted a carousel of photos with Brown, writing, 'Whenever I'm with you, I ain't worried about it. @zacbrown ♥️✨🎶,' referencing the Zac Brown Band song of the same name. Brown replied in the comments, 'Such a lady. So much of the world to explore but anywhere is home with you.' Brown and Scott revealed their engagement in a joint statement to People on July 24, saying, 'We are so happy and grateful that we found each other.' Brown proposed with a pink diamond ring. That same day, Scott posted photos from a fishing trip in Alaska, writing, 'Family, fishing and adventures in Alaska a few weeks ago. 🩵🗻🎣 This place really is something special. Every direction you turn, the views just take your breath away. I love experiencing your favorite places, @zacbrown. Let's go back!' During an appearance on The Today Show the next day, Brown opened up about the proposal. 'I feel great, I got her good,' he said. 'What are you going to get somebody that designs jewelry? It's incredible; we're so happy we found each other, and we're blessed. It just adds so much energy to everything else—more to give to music, more to give to our families, and everything.' He also told Us Weekly, 'Finding someone I'm so like-minded with and share and align in such a way, it's such an incredible thing. It's totally different than anything I've ever had before.'

Country Star Says He's 'Blessed' As He Shares Engagement News

Congratulations are in order for Zac Brown and Kendra Scott, country music's newest engaged couple! On Thursday, July 24, PEOPLE revealed that the Zac Brown Band frontman popped the question to the jewelry designer with a jaw-dropping pink diamond ring at sunset. "We are so happy and grateful that we found each other," the couple told PEOPLE, and continue to swoon to anyone and everyone who asks. Just this morning, the 'Chicken Fried' singer echoed the sentiment on TODAY while performing for their 2025 Citi Concert Series. 'What are you gonna get somebody that designs jewelry?' Zac joked on stage when asked about how he popped the question. "But it's incredible, incredible. So happy... We're so happy we found each other and we're blessed. It just adds so much energy to everything else. More to give to music, more to give to our families and everything, so we're blessed." All the while, the camera panned to Kendra, who was nodding along during her fiancé's speech and cheering throughout his performances. Zac and Kendra debuted their relationship to the public back in May while walking the 2025 American Music Awards red carpet. Fans were thrilled for the lovebirds back then and even more so now. 'This is wonderful news to wake up to. Congratulations,' one fan exclaimed on the TODAY show's Instagram post. 'Happy for y'all,' someone else commented. 'Such a lovely couple, sending many blessings for you both,' another fan chimed in. As happy as some fans are for Zac and Kendra, many others are dismayed by how quickly he's moved on, as his legal battle with second wife Kelly Yadzi continues. One can only imagine what it must be like to go through a divorce, let alone one in the public eye. Here's hoping it works out for everyone involved.
