The Richmond, B.C., native, who is the reigning world and Olympic champion achieved the mark on the fourth of her six attempts. Americans Brooke Andersen (76.95) and DeAnna Price (75.35) placed behind Rogers.

The Paris 2024 Olympic champion in the hammer throw, describes what she loves most about competing at the iconic Hayward Field, in Eugene, Oregon.
In the men's hammer throw, Ethan Katzberg of Nanaimo, B.C., placed second in the men's hammer throw. The reigning world and Olympic champion had a best of 81.73 metres on the day.
American Rudy Winkler finished first with a personal-best mark of 83.16.
Sarah Mitton of Brooklyn, N.S., took second in the women's shot put with a best of 20.39 metres for the day.

Mitton, who is the reigning world champion, indoor and outdoor, finished behind American Chase Jackson, who threw 20.94.
World record for Chebet
Kenyan Beatrice Chebet set a world record in the 5,000 meters, winning the event in 13 minutes, 58.06 seconds Saturday at the Prefontaine Classic.
Chebet became the first women to run under 14 minutes in the event, surpassing the previous record of 14:00.21 set by Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay. Tsegay set the record at the 2023 Prefontaine Classic.
Chebet, 25 was the gold medalist in the 5,000 and 10,000 at the Paris Olympics, becoming just the third woman to win both.
Chebet had the previous world best this year in the event, running 14:06.39 last month in Rome.
The Prefontaine Classic in the lone U.S. stop on the Diamond League track and field series.

Lions to a stunning come-from-behind 21-20 win over the Montreal Alouettes in front of 21,144 Percival Molson Stadium spectators on Saturday night. Article content Trailing 17-12 as time wound down in the fourth quarter, Lions' quarterback Nathan Rourke connected on an 46-yard passing play to Stanley Berryhill the Third for the 18-17 go-ahead score. Article content Article content Article content Rourke failed on the ensuing two-point conversion attempt, allowing Montreal to retake a 20-18 lead on a Jose Maltos 24-yard field goal with 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Article content The Lions quickly moved the ball downfield on the ensuing kickoff, setting up Whyte for his last-play heroics. Article content The Lions snapped their three-game losing streak and improved to 2-3. Article content Rourke went 22-for-36, throwing for 352 yards and one touchdown. He was making his first start for B.C. since June 12 after missing his team's last two games with an oblique injury. Article content Justin McInnis had 6 receptions totalling 109 yards to pace the Lions, his first 100-plus yardage game of the season. The 27-year-old subsequently threw four passes good for at least 12 yards each. He would cap off the 72-yard drive himself with a two-yard run into the end zone just 57 seconds into the second quarter, his second rushing major of the season.
