Another Simple Favour director Paul Feig 'open' to Spy sequel
The director of the hit 2015 comedy action flick - which sees CIA analyst Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) become a field agent when she "volunteers to infiltrate an arms deal and stop a global catastrophe" - said if any movie was going to "have a sequel, it'll probably be 'Spy'".
Paul - who previously said he "don't do sequels" because they are "hard" to do - told HeyUGuys: "I mean, if there was ever going to be another movie that'll have a sequel, it'll probably be 'Spy'.
"So, you know, never say never."
His 'Another Simple Favour' co-star Henry Golding reminded Paul that the "conscientious is that 'Spy' has to be remade', to which 'The Housemaid' actor replied: "I think it must - it seems to be, yeah, exactly."
After interviewer Freda Cooper said that a sequel can only be made on "one condition" - that Jason Statham will reprise his role as agent Rick Ford - Paul said: "There's no 'Spy' without Jason Statham, and I love him to death.
"He's the greatest."
His comments come as he released the new story for his 2018 thriller comedy 'A Simple Favour' - which follows a single mom called Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and her friend Emily Nelson's (Blake Lively) husband Sean Townsend (Henry Golding) solve the mystery behind Emily's disappearance - and he thinks the franchise "could go on" as the ending of the sequel allows for a third movie to happen.
Asked if he would be open to a threequel, Paul admitted: "You know what, once you've pulled the band-aid off, you might as well keep going.
"I definitely think this franchise could go on [to do] another one.
"The door's slightly open."
Paul previously insisted he doesn't do sequels at the Deadline Contenders Television panel for the film because it is "hard" for audiences, who are "burned by a lot of sequels", to "answer that question" of "why do I need to see this?".

"So these scenes, my No. 1 word for this season and for me filling the shoes of Paul is 'intimidating.' I was intimidated with some of the stuff they presented me with and I wasn't sure if I could keep up with our two leads who were so incredible. "When they're asking Paul to reach these emotional depths, falling apart in front of our eyes and letting a little bit of his inner darkness out, I was intimidated." Scott has also revealed his hopes for his own character in season four. The actor said: "There's parts of Paul we still don't understand and we haven't seen. So his resilience and how he rebounds from this in season four, I'd love to see some of that. I'd love to see a little bit of the old Paul. "We've heard how good he is at his job. He was elected mayor before Georgia ever walked into his life. I'd love to see that fight, that wit, that charm come back a little bit in season four."

Martin Freeman and Iain Armitage cast in The Adam Trials
Martin Freeman and Iain Armitage are to star in The Adam Trials. The duo have signed up to appear in the psychological thriller that contains a sci-fi twist from writer-director Ben Katai. The movie centres on the story of two parents who will do anything to save the life of their terminally ill son, including experimenting with nanotechnology that begins to show successful signs but at a dark cost. Compelling Pictures are producing the film whilst Freeman is on board as an executive producer with Noah Rosen, Dennis Casali, Matthew Gallagher and Steven Garcia. Casting for the female lead has started as the movie aims to shoot this year. Katai - who previously collaborated with Freeman on the crime drama series StartUp - said: "This movie has been a dream of mine for quite some time now, as has the opportunity to work with Martin again. "Now with Iain's talent in the mix, I am counting the seconds until we start rolling." Compelling Pictures boss Denis O'Sullivan said: "As lifelong fans of thought-provoking, grounded sci-fi, it's thrilling to be part of bringing this pressure-cooker of a movie to the screen with the enormously talented Ben Katai. "Audiences will be on the edge of their seats watching the cat-and-mouse game that unfolds between Martin and Iain as the story hurtles towards a stunning final twist." Martin's previous film credits include Love Actually and The Hobbit franchise and he revealed back in 2022 that he would "consider" directing a big screen flick. The 53-year-old actor told Collider: "It's something that I would consider. I do think about it. I change with it, really. Sometimes when I'm on set and I see what a director does, I look at it and go, 'Yeah, I could do that. I'd be right with this part of it.' However, the Black Panther star isn't sure if he has the "mental bandwidth" to deal with the "endless questions" that are asked of directors during the making of a movie. Martin said: "But then, there are other parts of directing that I'm still not sure I'd have the mental bandwidth for, just with the endless questions and how you have to be across everything. I know I would enjoy the bits where I'm rehearsing with actors. I don't know how good I'd be at the other stuff, or how much I'd enjoy that stuff. But never say never. If I get the confidence to think I could do it, then maybe so." The star plays CIA operative Everett K. Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but admits that there was a "gap" on set of the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever without the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the title role in the original film before his death from cancer at the age of 43 in 2020. Freeman said: "It was strange, that side of it. On the one hand, you're making the film that you're there to make, and there are scores and scores of people on set, joined in this endeavor to make the film. But there's also no question that, at the heart of it, there's quite a gap now, and you felt it."

Paul Smith's Milan debut collection inspired by old Egyptian souvenir book
Paul Smith's latest collection was inspired by an old Egyptian souvenir book from a holiday with his wife. The 78-year-old fashion designer's S/S 2026 collection was unveiled at Milan Fashion Week last weekend, the brand's first show in the Italian city in its 54-year history. Paul has told how the collection came about, revealing one of his staff recently pulled out his old Cairo souvenir book - which is from a holiday with his significant other, Pauline, to see the Egyptian pyramids - "to look at it", and he loved the "lovely colours". Speaking to Wallpaper*, he said: "One of the girls [in the office] must have pulled it out to look at it and as soon as I saw it, I thought it would be a great starting point for this show. "Look at all these lovely colours and then look at my colours; we've got the green, the blue, the red, the yellow, the pink! This show is all about the colours you see when you travel." Following the discovery of his Egypt souvenir book, Smith has urged people not to "dismiss the past" when it comes to fashion. He said: "Quite a lot of the clothes have got quite an old feeling to them, which is interesting. "Don't just always dismiss the past, you know, because so so much [present-day life] is about what's next, what's next, what's next." Despite the brand only making its Milan Fashion Week debut last weekend, because Paul wanted to remain "loyal" to Paris, he has owned a house in Italy since the 1990s. He added: "I've always shown in Paris because when I started [in 1970], it was the only place I could hold a show and so I've always been loyal. "But we are very good friends with [this] country. "There's a positive spirit and it's [the home of] the bella figura, right? They work to live rather than live to work. Which is a big difference here."
