Former Indonesian President Sby Returns To Painting While Undergoing Treatment In Hospital
JAKARTA, July 19 (Bernama) -- Former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital in Central Jakarta, is reported to be showing positive progress and has resumed painting in his hospital room.
According to a statement posted on his official Instagram account, although his right hand is still attached to an intravenous drip, Yudhoyono – widely known as SBY – has been creating artwork using his left hand.

'A set of painting tools was made available in the hospital room this morning… he held the brush and painted with all his heart, blending colours together. It was a touching moment,' the post said on Saturday.
A photo of the artwork in progress was also shared, though the piece is not yet complete and is still being refined. It will be shared again once finished.
The statement also asked the public to pray for SBY, who has a deep love for the arts, music, and poetry, to recover soon and return to his daily routine.
Democratic Party spokesperson Herzaky Mahendra Putra confirmed that SBY is receiving medical treatment, though no official details have been released about his illness.
The 75-year-old sixth president of Indonesia, born in Pacitan, East Java, governed from 2004 to 2014. He was also the country's first directly elected president through a presidential election.

Perak DOSH Receives Over 500 Accident Reports
IPOH, July 22 (Bernama) -- The Perak Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) received a total of 536 reports of workplace accidents during the first six months of this year. Its deputy director, Basharuddin Abd Rahman said the reports involved 10 fatal cases, four cases of permanent disability, 510 cases of non-permanent disability, and 12 dangerous incidents reported during the period. He said initial investigations pointed to employers' failure to conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures as the main contributing factors to accidents happening at the workplace. "For statistics on occupational diseases and poisoning, 376 cases were reported to the Perak DOSH during the same period. "Among the highest cases reported was hearing loss due to exposure to excessive and prolonged noise," he said during the Accident Prevention Seminar with the Perak Foundry & Engineering Industries Association (PFEIA) at the state level event in Meru Raya here today. Basharuddin said 32 cases had been prosecuted in court involving a total fine of RM449,300 for the first six months of this year. He said DOSH is always open to holding engagement sessions and dialogue with the state government, employers, workers, industry associations, and non-governmental organisations regarding occupational safety and health. He added that this is to strengthen the management of safety and health in the workplace and reduce the rate of accidents. Meanwhile, Perak DOSH Investigation and Prosecution Section head Ir Suhaidy Latip said unsafe behaviour leading to accidents in the foundry industry stem from not wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), using equipment incorrectly, violating procedures, fooling around at work, and operating machinery without authorisation.

Schools to go online if air quality reaches ‘very unhealthy' mark
Under existing guidelines, outdoor activities are prohibited when the air pollutant index exceeds 100, deemed as 'unhealthy'. (Bernama pic) KUALA LUMPUR : The education ministry will activate home-based teaching and learning if the air pollutant index (API) reading surpasses the 'very unhealthy' level of 200. Education minister Fadhlina Sidek said this was based on existing guidelines jointly coordinated with the natural resources and environmental sustainability as well as health ministries. 'Under the guidelines, outdoor activities are prohibited when the API exceeds 100. If it goes beyond 200, home-based learning will be implemented, meaning lessons will be conducted online,' she told reporters after officiating the 2024 national-level Digital Utilisation and Technology Awards here. Fadhlina added that state education directors had been instructed to take immediate action based on the API levels. As of 4pm, the environment department's portal showed 'unhealthy' API readings of 116 in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, and 154 in Johan Setia, Selangor.

JAKIM Ordered To Probe Case Of Hospital Food Caterer Without Halal Certificate – Mohd Na'im
SUNGAI PETANI, July 22 (Bernama) -- The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) has been instructed to carry out a detailed investigation into the appointment of a catering company without a Halal Certificate to supply food at a government hospital. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said he was unable to comment further on the matter for the time being. 'I have instructed the JAKIM director-general to look into the issue, and he will report back to me. I cannot respond until I receive his report,' he told reporters after the 'Ziarah MADANI Peduli' programme here today. At the programme in Bukit Banyan here today, he presented an RM10,000 contribution to Mohd Lutfi Radzi, who was injured in the recent bus crash on the East-West Highway (JRTB) in Gerik, Perak. Yesterday, the Auditor-General's Report (LKAN) 2/2025 revealed that Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (HCTM) had awarded a catering contract worth RM25.64 million to a company identified as 0267299-T. The company, allegedly without a Halal Certificate, was awarded the contract to supply food to patients at the hospital for three years, starting February 2024. Earlier, Mohd Na'im visited Mohd Lutfi, 37, his wife Nurul Ain Zakaria, 36, and their two children. They were the driver and passengers of a Perodua Alza car involved in the June 9 JRTB crash and had sustained injuries. Meanwhile, when met by reporters, Mohd Lutfi expressed gratitude to all Malaysians who had continuously prayed for their recovery and appreciated the assistance of police, firemen and healthcare personnel. 'Our condition has improved a lot. My wife, who fractured her ribs, is still on medical leave, and our child with the fractured thigh is already able to move independently,' he said.
