Michigan's sign-stealer, Conor Stalions, says he knew most signals in 7 games over 2 seasons
Stalions shared those details Saturday on social media, responding to TCU coach Sonny Dykes telling On3 that his team changed some signs in advance of its
win over the Wolverines
in the 2022 College Football semifinals.
'We got some favorable matchups because of that and, yeah, there was some big plays in the game,' Dykes said in the On3 report.
Stalions bristled at the latest attempt to suggest Michigan won or lost games because of his sign-stealing role with the team.
'There were 7 games in my time at Michigan where I knew almost every signal the whole game: 2021 MSU, 2022 MSU, 2022 PSU, 2022 OSU, 2022 TCU, 2021 Georgia, and 2021 Wisconsin,' Stalions wrote in his post. 'We lost 3 of those games because we didn't tackle well, and Georgia was historically good. We won the four other games because we dominated the line of scrimmage & tackled well. Blocking, ball security, tackling, run fits & coverage tools.
'That's football. This is not rocket science.'
Nearly a year ago, the NCAA alleged in a notice relating to Michigan's sign-stealing investigation that current coach Sherrone Moore violated rules as an assistant under
former coach Jim Harbaugh
, who served a three-game suspension in exchange for the Big Ten dropping its own investigation into the allegations after the two ended up in court.
Moore also was accused of deleting text messages with Stalions, before they were recovered and provided to the NCAA. Moore has said he has and will continue to cooperate with the NCAA's investigation.
Michigan is prepared to suspend Moore for two games during the coming season. The NCAA will decide if that self-imposed sanction is enough to address allegations that Moore failed to cooperate in an investigation that rocked college football during the 2023 championship season with Harbaugh on the sideline.
The school had a hearing with the NCAA's Committee on Infractions last month. The governing body takes three months on average for contested cases to make a final decision.
The Wolverines open the season on Aug. 30 at home against New Mexico State and then go to Oklahoma, where Moore was an offensive lineman, on Sept. 6.
The NCAA
does not have rules against stealing signs
, but it does prohibit schools from sending scouts to the games of future opponents and using electronic equipment to record another team's signals. Records from other Big Ten schools showed that
Stalions
bought tickets to games involving future opponents, sending people to digitally record teams when they signaled plays.
Stalions initially was placed on leave by Michigan and later resigned. He did not participate in the NCAA investigation.
The NCAA previously put Michigan on three years of probation, fined the school and implemented recruiting limits after reaching a negotiated resolution in a recruiting case and banned Harbaugh from coaching college football for four years.

Colt Keith homers again to give Detroit Tigers 5th straight win, 4-2 over Tampa Bay Rays
It's the old cliché: It's not how you start, it's how you finish. After trailing early, the Detroit Tigers finished with the final four runs Tuesday, July 8, at Comerica Park, rallying past the Tampa Bay Rays for a 4-2 win. Advertisement Colt Keith smashed a 394-foot homer into the right-field stands for the second straight night, snapping a 2-all tie in the seventh inning and giving the Tigers (59-34) their fifth straight victory. Colt Keith of the Detroit Tigers singles to drive in Zach McKinstry against the Tampa Bay Rays during the fifth inning at Comerica Park in Detroit on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. SWEET RELIEF: Tyler Holton refuses to get too low or too high for Detroit Tigers Slow to start The night's second batter, All-Star first baseman Jonathan Aranda homered to right, seemingly getting revenge for his 1-for-4 performance the night before adding on a double in the third inning, then scored on a single from right fielder Josh Lowe to put the Rays, 2-0, before the Tigers had even gotten a runner on. Advertisement The Tigers racked up three strikeouts in the first two innings against Tampa Bay right-hander Ryan Pepiot, going 1-2-3 in each inning. Matt Vierling snapped the skid with one out in the third inning, taking a hit-by-pitch for the Tigers' first baserunner, followed by a Keith walk. The Tigers needed someone to step up. And who better than Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson? The All-Star snub and potential Home Run Derby participant pulled a second-pitch slider from Pepiot into the bullpens in left to get the Tigers on the board with one out in the bottom of the fourth. Torkelson didn't go alone, though. The poor razor quality of the Cleveland Guardians may have inadvertently unlocked a monster, as Keith delivered his second home runs in as many games since he skipped shaving, launching a two-run shot to right in the seventh. But before that, Keith's single in the fifth scored Vierling, on base after being hit by a pitch for the second time in as many plate appearances. Celebrate 125 epic seasons with our commemorative Tigers book! Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson (20) hits a home run in the fourth inning against the Tampa Bay Rays at Comerica Park in Detroit on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. PURR-FECT GAME: Ranking Detroit Tigers' greatest games at Comerica Park: Nos. 20-16 Advertisement Late offense More than just tie the game, though, Keith's single seemed to finally spark the Tigers. Second baseman Gleyber Torres singled in his following at-bat, extending his personal on-base streak to 21 games. Vierling, despite going 0-for-2, thrived. Two hit-by-pitches got him on base, and he made the most of it, stealing second on his first opportunity, in the bottom of the third, and zooming home from first to score on Keith's single in the fifth. All-Star hopeful Zach McKinstry, who homered Monday, July 7, had another strong game. Walked in the bottom of the seventh, he stole second, then took third on a flyout from Javier Báez before coming home on Keith's home run. Tuesday's victory gave the Tigers 59 wins, tying a franchise record for victories before the All-Star break (with the 2006 Tigers, who opened 59-29). One more win in their final four before the break (Wednesday, July 9, vs. the Rays, and July 11-13 vs. the Seattle Mariners) would make the Tigers the 20th team since 1933 with 60 first-half wins. Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal named as American League starter for 2025 All-Star Game
The long list of impressive accomplishments continues to grow for Tarik Skubal. MLB announced on Saturday night after the Tigers lost to the Mariners, 15-7, that Skubal, the reigning Cy Young winner, will start the All-Star Game for the American League. Advertisement Last year, Skubal was debatably snubbed from the starting nod in the All-Star Game, when Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy selected then-Baltimore Orioles ace Corbin Burnes to make the start before giving the ball over to Skubal for the second inning. Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers pitches in the second inning during the 94th MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard at Globe Life Field on July 16, 2024 in Arlington, Texas. Skubal is building on last season's impressive campaign with one that might he even better. He leads all MLB pitchers in FanGraphs' version of WAR (4.7) by a wide margin, with Boston's Garrett Crochet next closest at 3.8. While he didn't have his best stuff in a loss to the Mariners on Friday, July 11, his most recent start, the big-picture sample size is impossible to ignore. SATURDAY'S GAME: Detroit Tigers give up 19 hits in 15-7 blowout loss to Seattle Mariners Advertisement Skubal has a 10-3 record, a 2.23 ERA and has racked up 153 strikeouts in 19 starts. He leads MLB in WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) at 0.83, which is perhaps the best statistical indicator of his dominance in both making batters miss and also peppering the zone. Yankees manager Aaron Boone was in charge of making the call this year, and while there was certainly more than enough merit for Skubal to start, you can't blame him if he didn't want to poke the metaphorical bear in Skubal before a potential playoff matchup this postseason. Pirates pitching sensation Paul Skenes will make the start for the National League for the second straight year as the 2025 MLB All-Star Game takes place in Atlanta on Tuesday, July 15, with first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Skubal being named as the All-Star Game starter is just another reason for Tigers fans to tune into the Midsummer Classic. The Tigers now have four starters as Skubal officially joins second baseman Gleyber Torres, outfielder Riley Greene, outfielder Javier Báez in the group of players who will take the first first. In addition, utility player Zach McKinstry and starting pitcher Casey Mize were added as injury replacements, so in total, the Tigers have six All-Star representatives and four starters. Advertisement It'll be the first time the Tigers will be sending at least four players to the All-Star Game since 2015, when Miguel Cabrera (1B), José Iglesias (SS), J.D. Martinez (OF) and David Price all were picked for the MLB All-Star Game in Cincinnati. Tigers bullpen blows late lead, swept by Mariners in 8-4 loss to end first half
The good news for the Detroit Tigers is that they have the best record in baseball (59-38) heading into the All-Star break. The bad news is that they enter the All-Star break with a four-game losing streak, their longest of the season, after getting swept at home by the Seattle Mariners. Advertisement Despite a solid start from right-hander Jack Flaherty, the Tigers lost to the Mariners on Sunday, July 13, 8-4, after late-inning breakdowns from relievers Tommy Kahnle and Will Vest. Kahnle gave up back-to-back solo home runs to lead off the ninth inning, the first to pinch hitter Jorge Polanco and the second to second baseman Cole Young, to make the score 6-4. An RBI double from Mariners center fielder Julio Rodríguez made the score 7-4, while an errant throw down to third base from catcher Dillon Dingler allowed Rodríguez to score and make it 8-4. "Look, [the Mariners] had five homers," said Tigers manager A.J. Hinch. "A couple of ill-timed walks after we took the lead with Riley [Greene's] homer, led to an ugly finish to an ugly weekend." Detroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler hits a two-run double in the first inning against the Seattle Mariners at Comerica Park, July 13, 2025. The Tigers had a 4-3 lead entering the eighth inning before Vest walked three and allowed the game-tying run on a double from Mariners left fielder Randy Arozarena, eventually loading the bases with no outs on the precipice of a game-blowing inning. Advertisement However, a shallow fly ball from Mariners catcher Mitch Garver and a double-play off the bat of right fielder Dominic Canzone kept the game knotted at 4-4. FUN BEHIND THE SCENES: The surprising phone call that made Tigers ace Tarik Skubal an All-Star Game starter Vest hadn't given up a run in nearly a month, his last coming in a three-run outing in an 8-4 Tigers loss against the Cincinnati Reds on June 15. But as it did all weekend against the Mariners, the Tigers bullpen gave up run after run in the three-game sweep. Bullpen spoils seventh-inning comeback With the Tigers down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Tigers designated hitter Gleyber Torres drove in shortstop Javier Báez from third base with a sacrifice fly to right-center field, tying the game and marking the three-time All-Star's 45th RBI. Advertisement Four pitches later, left fielder Riley Greene sent a towering solo home run in the same direction, giving the Tigers the 4-3 lead on his 24th homer of the season. The seventh-inning offensive outburst was necessitated by the Mariners taking their first lead of the game earlier in the inning. With the game tied at 2-2, Mariners catcher Mitch Garver did his best Cal Raleigh impression, hitting a solo home run to lead off the inning and give the Mariners a 3-2 lead. It didn't matter in the end, however, with the Mariners completing the sweep with their own late-inning comeback. Flaherty gives up two runs in five innings Detroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty pitches in the second inning against the Seattle Mariners at Comerica Park, July 13, 2025. Flaherty got into some early trouble after Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford led off the game with a single to right field. He then walked Rodríguez and Raleigh to load the bases before striking out Arozarena for the first out of the inning. Advertisement A broken-bat line drive from first baseman Luke Raley bailed Flaherty out, however, with Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson snatching the ball out of the air and doubling up Rodríguez with a throw to second base to keep the Mariners off the scoreboard. Despite the nervy first inning, Flaherty was mostly effective through the rest of his outing, striking out seven batters and allowing four hits in five innings pitched. Two of those hits, however, exited the ballpark, further showcasing Flaherty's struggles limiting hard contact in 2025. The Mariners first scored in the top of the third inning, with Rodríguez hitting a two-out, solo home run to make the score 2-1. The Mariners star hit a home run in all three games against the Tigers this series, registering his 12th, 13th and 14th home runs of the season over the weekend. Arozarena tied up the game on Flaherty's first pitch of the fourth inning with a solo home run, his 17th of the year, to make the game 2-2. Flaherty also gave up two walks in his five innings, but limited the damage to those home runs. Advertisement "I'd take a couple pitches back, but other than that, [I was] just continuing to make pitches and try to find a way to get some quicker innings," Flaherty said. After allowing seven and eight earned runs in back-to-back starts on June 14 and 20, Flaherty has pitched more steadily, allowing no more than three earned runs in each of his last four starts. It was also the 10th time this season that Flaherty has pitched at least five innings while allowing two or fewer runs, now achieving that mark in back-to-back starts after a strong outing in a 4-2 Tigers win against the Tampa Bay Rays on July 8. Gilbert keeps Tigers bats quiet Seattle Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert pitches in the first inning against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, July 13, 2025. Much like the Mariners, the Tigers also got a first-inning scoring opportunity. Unlike the Mariners, however, they didn't waste it. Advertisement With two outs and runners on second and third base, Dingler smacked a line drive off the left field wall, scoring Torres from second base and a hustling Torkelson from first. It was also the first Tigers hit of the day, as Torres reached via a throwing error to first base from Raley and Torkelson reached via a walk. That was their only real offensive output until the seventh inning. Seattle starter Logan Gilbert settled down after a two-run first inning, striking out nine batters and allowing two unearned runs in 5⅓ innings of work. The 6-foot-6 Gilbert didn't allow a Tigers player to reach past second base after the first inning, the closest player being Torres during an eventful (but scoreless) third inning for the Tigers. The Tigers hit three singles in the bottom of the third but couldn't bring in a run, as Torres (who led off the inning with a single) was thrown out trying to reach third base on Riley Greene's hard-struck single to left-center field. Advertisement The Torres single extended his career-high on-base streak to 25 games, which also stands as the active high in the American League. Detroit combined for one hit (another Torres single) in the fourth and fifth innings, knocking out Gilbert after a one-out walk to third baseman Zach McKinstry in the sixth. Despite the loss, Flaherty found some perspective in the team's MLB-best record through the first half: "If you were to tell us at the beginning of the season that we'd be in this spot, I think we'd be pretty happy about it."
