Exile and Evolution in Hawaii
After political instability following Fiji's 1987 coups d'état, Veikoso relocated to Hawaii. It was there that he carved out his signature sound, a fusion of reggae, R&B, jazz, and traditional Polynesian rhythm, often called the 'Lost Coast Sound.' His debut solo album 'Evolution' marked a turning point, not only in his career but in the genre of island music at large.

Musicians Praveen D Rao & Varijashree Venugopal celebrate their bond ahead of Friendship Day
Being flautist HS Venugopal's daughter, Grammy-nominated singer Varijashree Venugopal grew up in a world immersed in music. Little did she know then that she would grow up to become close friends with composer Praveen D Rao, whom she first met as a child. 'I don't think she remembers the first time we met because she was a very tiny one-and-a-half or two-year-old. I remember trying to get the names of scales out of her, singing different scales. She was kind of a toy for many musicians at the time, and a wonderful ball of energy,' reminisces Rao. It was only later, when a teen Venugopal started making her way into recording studios as a flutist and singer, that a deeper bond of intellectual and musical friendship and mentor-mentee relationship formed between the two. Pointing out a quality she greatly admires in Rao, she says, 'During his recording sessions, what I have observed is how he makes the artist feel – even if something is not working out, he has a magical way of making things work. The artist who comes to play a session invariably goes back home feeling very fulfilled and pumped up about themselves. That's a very rare quality in a person.' The admiration goes both ways, with Rao noting that collaborating with Venugopal means being on the same wavelength. 'Usually, a composer composes a song, and the singer tries to replicate it as well as they can. But Varijashree always makes the song her own, so beautifully. She just gets into my brain, gets the feel of the song and knows exactly what I want, but makes it better,' he says. The age gap between them, the duo emphasises, has not stood in the way of a deep mental connection. Venugopal says, 'Even though we have quite a gap when it comes to age, mentally, it feels very natural and enriching to share conversations and thoughts. Many times, if I am stuck with some kind of situation or I am not able to make a decision about something, I call him to talk and bounce ideas. The way he maintains his cool and composure is very significant in him.'

Gisele Bündchen explodes over Tom Brady's fatherhood claims as their co-parenting pact crumbles
Tom Brady's recent newsletter stirred controversy. Sources say Gisele Bundchen felt slighted by his comments on fatherhood (Getty Images) Tom Brady's attempt to open up about fatherhood in his 199 newsletter may have caused more damage than healing — especially when it comes to his relationship with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. While the NFL icon reflected on what it means to be a 'great father,' insiders say his remarks landed like a public jab at the woman who once sacrificed her own career to raise their kids. Tom Brady 's newsletter draws fire as sources say communication is now strictly about the kids Though Brady didn't mention Bündchen by name, his statement — 'Reading bedtime stories and helping them with homework are not the only ways to be a great parent' — reportedly struck a nerve. According to a source cited in Rob Shuter's #ShuterScoop, Bündchen saw the comment as a 'personal dig.' The insider emphasized that the supermodel is growing tired of what they call the 'narrative that he sacrificed everything for them,' adding bluntly, 'He didn't. She did.' No emotional ties left between the former couple, says insider The former power couple, who finalized their divorce in 2022, now reportedly have no 'real relationship' outside of their children, Benjamin and Vivian. According to the source, their dynamic is strictly logistical — 'drop-offs, pick-ups, school events.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Any lingering personal connection, it seems, has withered since the newsletter's release. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Bündchen recently welcomed her third child — her first with boyfriend Joaquim Valente. While Brady's newsletter attempted to redefine what fatherhood looks like from his perspective, Bündchen is said to be focused on building a 'peaceful' and emotionally fulfilling new chapter. The couple, often spotted on romantic getaways, has sparked wedding speculation in recent months. Gisele Bündchen's quiet clapback: moving on, privately but powerfully Despite the apparent tension, Bündchen isn't fighting fire with fire. Instead, she's channeling her energy into her new life, quietly sharing glimpses of her joy — including a sweet Mother's Day Instagram post featuring her baby. The message is clear: while Brady writes about being a great dad, Bündchen is simply living it — and for some, that says more than any newsletter ever could. Hailee Steinfeld's latest workout photos break the internet as Josh Allen returns to Bills camp
Hailee Steinfeld raises eyebrows with sizzling new gym photos (Getty Images) While Josh Allen ramps up intensity in his second week of training camp with the Buffalo Bills, his wife Hailee Steinfeld is quietly building her own routine — one rooted not in football, but in fitness, mindfulness, and discipline. The Oscar-nominated actress, who stunned fans in three elegant gowns during their wedding weekend at the picturesque San Ysidro Ranch, has been making wellness a personal priority off the red carpet. Hailee Steinfeld flexes her fitness grind in latest photos before Bills' big year Even with a demanding schedule, Hailee Steinfeld remains deeply committed to taking care of her body and mind. In her recent Beau Society newsletter, she described emerging from a whirlwind trip to New York City, yet still ensuring her workouts weren't sacrificed. 'I work out to stay fit, but it's almost the last reason I do it anymore,' she wrote candidly. 'I love it because it's the only time of day that I can check out entirely. ' Her approach isn't simply about staying camera-ready — it's about emotional resilience and self-care. The 28-year-old actress, who starred in Sinners, emphasized the mental clarity her workouts provide. 'We often work out early so we finish before the rush of the day sets in. Her commitment has been supported, both emotionally and physically, by her father Pete Steinfeld — a personal trainer and a key figure in her health journey. In Beau Society's August 1 issue, titled 'The Movement Issue,' Pete was interviewed, offering insight into their shared passion. Hailee wrote, 'I never get tired of hearing my dad talk about the thing he loves most in this world: wellbeing.' Hailee Steinfeld embraces balance by letting go of guilt and finding joy in her wellness journey The actress also opened up about her past struggles with body image and the guilt that used to accompany indulging in snacks with friends. That mindset has shifted with wisdom and time. 'I don't do that anymore because I enjoy sweets and snacks, and the company,' she admitted. But a quote from her father helped anchor this change: 'You can't change your body overnight, and you can't mess it up overnight either.' That philosophy — one of balance, consistency, and kindness toward oneself — now defines her outlook. As Josh Allen pursues greatness on the gridiron, Steinfeld is quietly setting her own example of strength: one that doesn't always show up on a scoreboard, but matters just as much.
