Musicians Praveen D Rao & Varijashree Venugopal celebrate their bond ahead of Friendship Day

Being flautist HS Venugopal's daughter, Grammy-nominated singer Varijashree Venugopal grew up in a world immersed in music. Little did she know then that she would grow up to become close friends with composer Praveen D Rao, whom she first met as a child.
'I don't think she remembers the first time we met because she was a very tiny one-and-a-half or two-year-old. I remember trying to get the names of scales out of her, singing different scales. She was kind of a toy for many musicians at the time, and a wonderful ball of energy,' reminisces Rao.
It was only later, when a teen Venugopal started making her way into recording studios as a flutist and singer, that a deeper bond of intellectual and musical friendship and mentor-mentee relationship formed between the two. Pointing out a quality she greatly admires in Rao, she says, 'During his recording sessions, what I have observed is how he makes the artist feel – even if something is not working out, he has a magical way of making things work. The artist who comes to play a session invariably goes back home feeling very fulfilled and pumped up about themselves. That's a very rare quality in a person.'
The admiration goes both ways, with Rao noting that collaborating with Venugopal means being on the same wavelength. 'Usually, a composer composes a song, and the singer tries to replicate it as well as they can. But Varijashree always makes the song her own, so beautifully. She just gets into my brain, gets the feel of the song and knows exactly what I want, but makes it better,' he says.
The age gap between them, the duo emphasises, has not stood in the way of a deep mental connection.
Venugopal says, 'Even though we have quite a gap when it comes to age, mentally, it feels very natural and enriching to share conversations and thoughts. Many times, if I am stuck with some kind of situation or I am not able to make a decision about something, I call him to talk and bounce ideas. The way he maintains his cool and composure is very significant in him.'

During the conversation, he recalled his trip to Korea, where he met the globally popular boy band but didn't recognise them. The comedian admitted that many people fainted after listening to his story. Looking back, Zakir shared, 'I happened to go to Korea once, and there is a very famous band there by the name of BTS. I knew there was a band called BTS, and I also know that they are famous. And by chance, I went there for an event to interview a very big celebrity, and the band was also there to meet the same person." "Because I was late, I was in the last batch with those members of the band. So I asked one of the members, 'Who are you and where are you from', and he told me they are from BTS. I thought that the Korean organising team had called for a behind-the-scenes team. I was totally unaware of the fact that they are famous people. Later, when I told people that for 35 minutes I was in the same room as them, they fainted," he added. About BTS Since their debut in 2013, the South Korean boy band, whose name is an acronym for Bangtan Sonyeondan, has topped the charts with their catchy music, collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry and grown one of the largest fan bases, affectionately dubbed as ARMY. The Grammy-nominated group consists of seven members: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. In the years since they exploded onto the scene, many of the members have gone on to pursue solo projects, in addition to creating hits such as Butter with their bandmates. After a break of over three years, BTS is officially reuniting. The K-pop group made the big announcement during a livestream on July 1 via Weverse. All seven members appeared together for the first time since 2022 to confirm their return with a group album and global tour, scheduled for next spring. The band also confirmed a world tour, their first since the 2021 Permission to Dance On Stage concerts. The tour is expected to include a stop in the Bay Area.

It helps us confront truths that are too absurd to believe and too real to ignore,' he says. Fake DJ Deadmau5 Gets Butt Naked After Security Pulls His Pants Down at Festival

Last Updated: An imposter dressed as Deadmau5 disrupted Toronto's Veld Music Festival, ending up naked during a security confrontation. A bizarre and chaotic moment unfolded at the Veld Music Festival in Toronto when an unidentified man impersonated Canadian electronic music icon Deadmau5 during a live performance. The incident, which took place at Downsview Park, quickly spiralled out of control and left hundreds of attendees shocked, especially when the imposter ended up fully naked during a confrontation with security personnel. According to eyewitnesses and viral footage circulating online, the individual managed to get on stage while dressed exactly like Deadmau5, real name Joel Thomas Zimmerman, complete with the artist's signature headgear. He reportedly approached the stage mid-performance, creating confusion among fans and staff. Security quickly intervened, but the situation escalated as the impersonator grew aggressive. 'He was first seen hitting a guard up on the stage," one eyewitness reported. 'And he later ran down, only to be surrounded by more guards." View this post on Instagram A post shared by (@edm) The video shows a scuffle between the imposter and multiple security guards. As they attempted to restrain him, the man's pants came off in the tussle, exposing him to the crowd. In a matter of seconds, the impersonator was completely naked as stunned concertgoers watched. 'The guards tried to pin him down, and in the process, his pant was also seen coming off in front of hundreds of fans," the footage reveals. He was eventually subdued and dragged off stage, allowing the event to resume without further disruption. Despite the swift action by security, the incident sparked debate online, with several users questioning the authenticity of the stunt. 'Was this staged?" one user asked on X (formerly Twitter), while others criticised the lack of tighter stage security. Deadmau5, known for global hits like Ghosts 'n' Stuff and Strobe, did not comment publicly on the matter. Widely recognised for his mau5head helmet and pioneering work in progressive house and electro, the DJ has received multiple Grammy nominations and founded the influential record label Mau5trap. The imposter's identity remains unknown, and no official statement has been released by festival organisers at the time of writing.
