There was bad blood at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers.
Not just on the ice.
Pop superstar Taylor Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce were among the celebrities that flocked to Amerant Bank Arena on Thursday to watch Game 4 of the final — with the "Bad Blood" singer seen holding hands with Kelce as they headed to their seats.
And they were in attendance for a thrilling game. Edmonton came from down three goals in the first period to win it 5-4 in overtime, tying the series 2-2.
Kelce, a Super Bowl-winning tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is a known hockey fan along with his brother Jason Kelce. And ever since Swift and Kelce began their high-profile romance in 2023, the 14-time Grammy Award winning singer has been known to pop in on big sporting events — including the last two Super Bowls — and cause an excited frenzy for fans.
There were rumblings ahead of Thursday's game that the couple might attend the final.
A helicopter landed near Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, ahead of the game. The VIP entrance to the area was also closed off and the media elevator was not available to be used for a period of time before pregame warmups began.
The pair was shown on the television broadcast during the first period of the game.
Swift recently announced that she regained control over her entire body of work. In a lengthy note posted to her official website, Swift said that all the music she's ever made now belongs to her after she has purchased her catalog of recordings — originally released through Big Machine Records — from their most recent owner, the private equity firm Shamrock Capital.
Over the last few years, Swift has been rerecording and releasing her early albums in an attempt to regain control of her music.
Other celebs in attendance included former Miami Dolphins star defensive end Jason Taylor, who banged the drum before the game, and hockey great Jaromir Jagr. Miami Heat captain Bam Adebayo was joined by former Heat captain Udonis Haslem on the drum on Monday.

Home reportedly owned by Brad Pitt ransacked by burglars

by Naharnet Newsdesk 27 June 2025, 16:21 Police are investigating a break-in at a home reportedly owned by Brad Pitt, who has been on a globe-spanning promo tour for his new movie, "F1." The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they responded to a break-in Wednesday night at a house on the 2300 block of North Edgemont Street in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. Three suspects broke into the residence through the front window, ransacked the home and fled with miscellaneous property, said Officer Drake Madison. Madison said he could not identify who owned or lived in the home, and no information is currently available on what was stolen. Pitt reportedly bought the home for $5.5 million in April 2023, according to Traded, a commercial real estate website. A Pitt representative declined comment. Pitt has been out of the country on a promotional tour for the "F1" movie. He attended the international premiere in London on Monday. The movie will be in U.S. theaters Friday. The burglary was first reported Thursday by NBC News.

New film academy members include Deadwyler, Grande, Momoa, O'Brien

by Naharnet Newsdesk 27 June 2025, 16:20 The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited 534 new members to its organization on Thursday, adding recent Oscar nominees and many more to Hollywood's most exclusive club. The newest class of Oscar voters includes a number of stars like Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, Danielle Deadwyler and Andrew Scott. They, along with filmmakers, below-the-line professionals and executives will bring the film academy's membership total to 11,120, with voting members numbering 10,143. That's the largest membership ever for the academy. Since the #OscarsSoWhite backlash, the film academy has added thousands of members to swell its ranks and diversify its voting body. This year's class is 41% female, 45% from underrepresented communities and 55% from outside the U.S. Those new members will make the entire academy 35% women, 22% from underrepresented communities and 21% international. "We are thrilled to invite this esteemed class of artists, technologists, and professionals to join the Academy," said academy chief executive Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang in a statement. "Through their commitment to filmmaking and to the greater movie industry, these exceptionally talented individuals have made indelible contributions to our global filmmaking community." Invitations went out to 91 Oscar nominees and 26 winners, including best actress winner Mikey Madison ("Anora") and best supporting actor winner Kieran Culkin ("A Real Pain"). Recent nominees who were invited include Ariana Grande, Jeremy Strong, Sebastian Stan and Monica Barbara. Gints Zilbalodis, the director of best animated film winner "Flow" will join the animation branch. Other filmmakers set to join the academy include Mike Flanagan ("Doctor Sleep"), Azazel Jacobs ("His Three Daughters"), Brady Corbet ("The Brutalist"), Coraline Fargeat ("The Substance") Jane Schoenbrun ("I Saw the TV Glow"), Halina Reijn ("Babygirl") and Gia Coppola ("The Last Showgirl"). Payal Kapadia ("All We Imagine As Light"), Lena Waithe ("Queen & Slim") and Greg Kwedar and Clint Bentley of "Sing Sing" were all invited in the writers branch. In the music branch, new members include Brandi Carlile ("Elton John: Never Too Late"), Branford Marsalis ("Rustin") and Youssou N'Dour ("Youssou N'Dour: I Bring What I Love"). The last two emcees to host the Oscars — Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O'Brien — were also invited as members. After a well-reviewed broadcast that drew 19.7 million viewers, O'Brien is returning to host the 2026 Academy Awards on March 15. A few new rules will await the 2025 academy members. For the first time, members will be required to watch all nominated films in each category to be eligible to vote in the final road of Oscar voting. This year, a new award category for casting will be voted on for the upcoming Oscars. The academy has also established a new Oscar for stunt design, but that won't be given out until 2028.

Paris Saint-Germain beats Seattle Sounders 2-0 to reach Club World Cup round of 16

by Naharnet Newsdesk 24 June 2025, 17:22 Paris Saint-Germain didn't allow a single shot on goal as the European powerhouse beat the Seattle Sounders 2-0 on Monday and advanced to the Club World Cup round of 16. Paris Saint-Germain opened the scoring in the 35th minute when a shot from Vitinha that would've finished well wide of the net hit teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and deflected in. The UEFA Champions League winners scored again in the 66th minute as the Sounders' transition defense broke down. Seattle failed to locate Achraf Hakimi, who was wide open by the back post. Bradley Barcola's pass found him with plenty of time to control and strike. Paris Saint-Germain won Group B on a goal-differential tiebreaker after Atlético Madrid defeated Botafogo 1-0. The 68,740-capacity Lumen Field was lively with 50,628 fans. Key moment Jordan Morris returned to the pitch for the Sounders for the first time since April to a massive home-crowd ovation. It was a meaningful moment for fans as Morris, who grew up in the area, played a key role in helping his longtime franchise qualify for the Club World Cup. Takeaways Paris will play the runner-up of Group A on Sunday in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Seattle has been eliminated from the cup. What they said "I think it was a great match, difficult for us, tough from the beginning because Seattle played a great match with intensity and quality on and off the ball. I think all the supporters enjoyed the show, and I like the way we play." — Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique "This has been one of the, I would say, toughest parts of my career in terms of missing this tournament. So much of the excitement around this year was this tournament. ... You drive around, see yourself on the bus (ads), you want to be out there playing. Watching these guys compete and do so well in this tournament, I just wanted to be out there to try to help. … But I'm looking forward to what's to come this year." — Morris
