Negm: Islam Offers Holistic Model of Solidarity

Mohamed Mandour
In his address at the international conference titled "Citizenship, Identity, and the Shared Values of Coexistence' held in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, emphasized that compassion and social solidarity lie at the heart of the Islamic message.
These values form the foundation for building cohesive societies capable of confronting modern challenges such as poverty, violence, and social fragmentation.
Dr. Negm stressed that Islam offers a holistic model of solidarity that transcends emotional or material support, encompassing ethical conduct, faith, and institutional action. Drawing on examples from the Prophet's life—such as the brotherhood between the Muhajirin and the Ansar—and the waqf (endowment) system, Negm called for the revival and application of these principles to address contemporary moral and societal crises.

Los Angeles Times to Be Publicly Traded Company in 2026

Rana Atef Patrick Soon-Shiong, owner of the Los Angeles Times, revealed plans to take the historic newspaper public next year. This move will expand ownership and give the public an opportunity to participate in its future. The Los Angeles Times is one of the largest and most prestigious daily newspapers in the United States. Its owner said: 'Whether you're on the right or the left, Democrat or Republican, you're American — and it's important to provide a newspaper that reflects everyone's voice.' Founded in 1881, the paper has earned more than 40 Pulitzer Prizes and covers a wide range of topics including politics, economics, culture, technology, environment, and state-level news in California. Soon-Shiong emphasized that the IPO initiative will reinforce the newspaper's position as a platform for "people's voices, across all political perspectives." He added that preparations for the public offering are already underway in coordination with a specialized advisory firm. In recent years, the Los Angeles Times has faced mounting financial challenges, largely due to declining advertising revenue and shifts in how audiences consume news. In early 2024, the paper was forced to lay off newsroom staff in a bid to cut costs and restructure operations. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

League Council Condemns Genocide in Gaza by Israeli Forces

H-Tayea The Arab League Council, at the level of permanent representatives, held an emergency session at its Cairo headquarters, chaired by Jordan, to address the worsening humanitarian and military crisis in Gaza. The meeting was convened in response to the intensifying Israeli military operations and the continued blockade imposed on the Palestinian population in the besieged enclave. In a strongly worded statement, the Council condemned what it described as Israel's systematic policies of starvation, collective killing, and deprivation, aimed at turning Gaza into an empty land free of Palestinians. These actions, the Council affirmed, constitute a full-fledged genocide under international law. The Council called for an urgent and wide-ranging Arab and international political and diplomatic response to exert pressure on Israel to halt its aggression, lift the blockade, and allow unimpeded humanitarian and medical aid into Gaza. The statement emphasized the need to hold Israeli officials accountable for crimes committed against Palestinian civilians, including through legal mechanisms such as the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice. According to the Council, the continued denial of food, water, medicine, electricity, and clean water to over two million Palestinians in Gaza is a war crime and a crime against humanity. It condemned the reduction of humanitarian aid under political or legal justifications as immoral and illegal under international humanitarian law. The Council also welcomed the statement issued by 28 European Union countries on July 21, which clearly condemned Israeli practices, called for the protection of civilians, and denounced the ongoing crimes. It described the EU statement as a positive step toward building international pressure for accountability. The Arab League urged continued efforts at the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly to initiate political and legal proceedings against the occupation, including the referral of Israeli crimes to the ICC and obtaining a legal opinion from the International Court of Justice regarding the legality of the blockade and collective punishment imposed on Gaza. The Council concluded its statement with a warning: the silence of the international community in the face of these atrocities only emboldens the perpetrators and reinforces a culture of impunity. It called for a unified Arab stance to mobilize international opinion, demand an end to the aggression, and relieve the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

Arab League Welcomes Joint Statement Urging Immediate Gaza Ceasefire

Mohamed Mandour Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Tuesday welcomed a joint statement issued by 28 countries—including key European powers such as the United Kingdom and France—demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The statement condemned what it described as the 'inhumane killing of civilians, including children, as they attempted to access basic necessities like water and food,' and warned that civilian suffering in Gaza had reached 'new depths.' In remarks conveyed by his spokesperson, Jamal Rushdi, Aboul Gheit said the statement represents a growing international consensus rejecting what he termed Israel's ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing in Gaza. 'Such a declaration is important,' Aboul Gheit noted, 'but words must now be translated into action and real pressure must be exerted on the occupying power to halt the daily massacre inflicted on Palestinians in Gaza.' He highlighted the staggering toll of the war, stating that more than 800 people have been killed in cold blood while waiting at humanitarian aid distribution centers. Rushdi added that Israel is pursuing a strategy of forced displacement 'through daily killings, starvation, denial of basic supplies, evacuation orders, and blocking the entry of humanitarian aid—making life in Gaza unlivable.' He called on the international community to take meaningful action to end the violence and to uphold international humanitarian law, which he said is being flagrantly and unprecedentedly violated by the Israeli occupation. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
