We've already seen Hugo Ekitike join to help replace Darwin Nunez when he moves on and Diogo Jota's passing has sadly meant that another striker could join - Alexander Isak is highly favoured.
Luis Diaz's move to Bayern Munich might result in Malick Fofana at Lyon being approached, although Cody Gakpo will be given an even bigger role in his absence and Rio Ngumoha's extraordinary performances throughout pre-season have given the Englishman hopes of some senior minutes.
Since it's likely that Chiesa will leave, someone has already been identified as his replacement.
Liverpool already have Chiesa's replacement
Playing as Mohamed Salah's understudy was always going to be a difficult job. At times, you feel there might be an opportunity to play a substantial role in the team, but if you have a season where the Egyptian delivers 57 goal contributions, then you might feel shut-out on the sidelines.
Slot didn't really know what to do with Chiesa last season and regular minutes are going to be essential if he has plans of making Italy's World Cup squad next summer. A move is understandable.
Now that Salah has signed a new two-year deal with the club, you would expect him to have another main role in the team this season, which would be a spanner in the Italian's plans. But if you have a developing young player as his understudy at right-wing, then things start to make more sense.
The 33-year-old Egyptian will need to be replaced eventually as he starts to slow down towards the end of his career, and having his successor develop alongside him would be a beneficial move.
As such, it seems logical for Ben Doak to be promoted to the first team after a number of loan moves.
He spent last season on loan with Middlesbrough in the Championship and he played a particularly extensive role, making featuring for 1787 minutes and delivering three goals and seven assists.
In addition, he was heavily reported to have put most of the defenders he faced on skids, dribbling past them with relative ease, even despite him being marked by three opposition players at times.
At Anfield on Monday afternoon, when the Reds played Athletic Bilbao in a pre-season friendly, he scored from a tight angle and delivered a pin-point ball into Ngumoha to assist the second goal.

Wife detail comes to light as sacked Demons coach linked with two rival clubs

The Sydney Swans and GWS Giants are being tipped as potential landing spots for Simon Goodwin after the coach was sacked by the Melbourne Demons on Tuesday. The premiership-winning coach was let-go after nine seasons in charge of the Demons, with speculation rife as to who will replace him at Melbourne. But there's also speculation about what Goodwin will do next, with claims he 'won't be lost to football for long'. Speaking on Channel 7 on Tuesday night, leading reporter Mitch Cleary pointed out that Goodwin's wife Kristine is based in Sydney, which could open the door for an assistant role at the Swans or Giants. Cleary believes Goodwin will take a short break, but will soon find a role 'without too long out of the game'. Cleary said on 'The Agenda Setters': "I believe that the Sydney clubs will make a big play for Simon Goodwin. 'Now his wife is a high-flyer in the Sydney finance world, and has been based in Sydney in recent times. The feeling is that the Swans and Giants will come hard for a person of Simon Goodwin's calibre, and we know that Sydney will have at least one, potentially two, openings under Dean Cox at the end of this year ... and there's potentially one at the Giants as well. So keep an eye on the Swans and the Giants for Simon Goodwin for his next move.' Cleary also wrote on social media: "Simon Goodwin's wife is based in Sydney. The Swans and Giants will sound out the departing Melbourne coach for a key role in their football departments. Both clubs have previously spoken of the challenges in attracting highly credentialed football people to Sydney." Have the Demons already contacted their next coach? Meanwhile, coaching great Paul Roos believes the Demons have already sounded out former Swans coach John Longmire. Adam Simpson and Longmire are both available, and have both been linked to the Melbourne job. Speaking on ABC Sport, Roos said he believes the Dees already have their preferred candidate lined up. 'I think the main reason (for sacking Goodwin) would be, John Longmire, Adam Simpson (are available)… that's the only thing I can really think of," Roos said. 'They've made the decision, they are going to do it, what do you do? You either let him go for the next three weeks, or you go now. Clearly the pros of getting rid of him now is your ability to go to the market really quickly without any other club impeding your quest for a new coach. If I had to guess why they would have gone early, I think that's the reason.' RELATED: Abbey Holmes responds amid backlash over decision post-birth Eagles face decision as Victorian club 'not prepared' to pay Harley Reid Roos previously worked with Longmire at the Swans, and believes he'll be keen to get back into head-coaching. 'I haven't spoken to him directly. When he made the decision to leave (the Swans), we all thought he'll have at least a year off,' Roos said. 'That year hasn't really expired yet, and there's been no need to ask the question because there have been no jobs available. I suspect that someone has made the phone call already from the Melbourne Football Club, because if they haven't, they are bereft in their duties. I think they've made a call or will within the next 24 hours and get an answer either way.'

GM Says Nurburgring Lap Times Still Matter. Here's Why It's Right

The latest car news, reviews, and features. Shocking nobody, GM has gone on record this week saying that Nürburgring lap times still matter. When you're spending millions of dollars on something, that says plenty on its own. But if you're paying somebody as talented as Bob Sorakanich to do your talking for you, you might as well let the man cook. I won't rehash his points here; they're precisely what you'd expect from a company that is locked in an expensive development battle with a cross-town rival. And say what you will about the current state of the automotive industry, but this game of lap time leapfrog is a breath of fresh air in an industry that is facing what amounts to a crisis of passion. But there's hope on that front, even if it comes in unusual forms. So long as there are engineers who want to be the best at what they do, that hunger will always manifest itself. We don't need the 'Ring to keep the automakers passionate. We need it to keep them honest . Ford Say what you will about what 'Ring-focused development has done to the modern luxury car. No, really. You're right. For the vast majority of cars developed at least in part at what amounts to Germany's least efficient toll road, the lap time itself is entirely irrelevant. If anything, many automakers are trying to stretch their time on track in an effort to learn as much as possible about the real-world performance of the cars they're testing. Save for a precious few, the countless prototypes we see testing somewhere in or around the facility will never grace its record board. And many things we now take for granted are a product of the 'Ring, its green hills rising like a high-performance tide, lifting the collective expectations of buyers who have been trained that newer must be bigger, faster, and more expensive. It's a mixed bag, I'll readily admit. I hate putting new summer tires on 20- and 21-inch wheels just as much as you do. But in an information climate where corporations are being empowered to set narratives as they see fit, the 'Ring remains a reliable anchor point. Words are cheaper than they've ever been; paying Bob to say Chevy believes in the 'Ring costs a lot less than actually taking a car there to prove it, that's for sure. So, as long as automakers remain willing to put their money where their mouth is, I say hell yes, 'Ring times still matter. And you should too.
