Circus Spectacular brings international performers to Dartmouth, N.S.
Circus performers hit the highwire in Dartmouth, N.S., this weekend.
Canada Circus Spectacular was at the Zatzman Sportsplex for two shows Sunday afternoon. This was just one stop in the 90-show summer program.
'It takes a lot honestly. Early mornings and sometimes late nights. At the beginning we had to learn how to put this up and take it down faster,' says spokesperson, Aaron Ketchum.

The travelling show is bringing its international cast of performers to shows all over the Maritimes.
'We've got juggling, we've got clowns, we've got acrobats, we've got FMX riders, the globe of destiny, you can see there,' Ketchum says.
Canada Circus Spectacular is in Bridgewater for two shows tomorrow before heading to Amherst for a single show Tuesday.
The productions will then move on to its New Brunswick performances with dates across the province from June 18 to 25.

Maidie Music House opens to support Black artists in Nova Scotia
Katrina Lopes chats about creating Maidie Music House, an artist development company rooted in Black Nova Scotian heritage and culture. Maidie Music House, a Halifax-based artist development company, is opening its doors Friday. 'Aug. 1, on Emancipation Day, which was intentional because its symbolic of liberating ourselves from these systems that were never built for us,' veteran music executive, Katrina Lopes told CTV Morning Live. 'That's what Maidie Music House is about.' The company, founded by Lopes, looks to support and promote Black artists across Nova Scotia. 'Building something that's for us, by us, that understands what our needs are because there has been no infrastructure here,' Lopes said. Maidie Music House hopes to close the gap for Black artists in the province and help them develop their careers. 'The biggest gap has been artists development and performance couching,' Lopes said. To celebrate the opening of the music company, a concert is being held as part of the Crescendo Fest. The audience can expect performances from Reeny, Zamani, Haliey Smith and Jody Upshaw. East Coast Lifestyle creates limited edition line honouring Pat Stay
East Coast Lifestyle has released a new collection on Tuesday in honour of battle rap legend Pat Stay. Stay was killed at a Halifax nightclub on Sept. 4, 2022. 'The tribute collection is all about raising awareness for Pat Stay,' said Alex MacLean, East Coast Lifestyle owner. All the proceeds from items sold in the collection will go to Stay's family. 'Some sizes are already sold out, which is great to see the support,' MacLean said. The line includes hoodies and t-shirts with 'Pat Stay' along with his birth and death date written on the chest and a portrait of Stay on the back and 'wish you could stay' written below. The sleeve has '902 the world' written down it to represent Stay's impact from Nova Scotia to the rest of the world. 'We wanted to include his face on the back to really incorporate the 'stay forever' mentality,' MacLean said. 'He will stay forever, he's a part of this province.' The artwork done for the clothing was created by a Nova Scotian artist, Trevor Andrew. The collection is limited edition and available online on East Coast Lifestyles website or at their Bayer's Lake store. 'Pat was very supportive of our brand since day one, he was always asking for the new releases, coming to our different events and parties,' MacLean said. MacLean added it was meaningful to see someone he looked up to growing up wearing his brand. 'It was so impactful to watch Pat Stay come from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and make an impact across the world,' he said. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
