Will Clark goes on wild rant against announcer for sparking Rafael Devers controversy
On his 'Deuces Wild' podcast with Eric Byrnes, Clark went on an expletive-laden rant about Flemming revealing that Devers declined his offer to work with him at first base last month.
'I'm standing out there,' Clark began. '[And Giants announcer] Dave Flemming actually introduces me to his brother, Will Flemming, who is one of the Red Sox radio/TV guys, I guess. And so now he goes on some podcast … and blows this thing out of f— proportion … and here we go.'

Clark had his conversation with Flemming when the Red Sox were in San Francisco from June 20-22, shortly after Devers was traded to the Giants in a shocking blockbuster.

'I just gotta tell you right now, this is a bunch of bulls–t,' Clark added. 'That's first off. Second off … me and Raffy are fine, I'm gonna work with him whenever I get around to first base and all that. And Will Flemming? You can go f–k off, mother f—ker. You wanna go take a conversation that we're having and then blow it out of proportion because you're a f–king East Coast piece of s–t reporter? F–k off. And so other than that, I'm cool!'

On Boston's WEEI radio station Monday, Fleming said: 'Will Clark was there to work on ground balls with him at first base, and Raffy didn't show up. So, that's the person that these guys have been dealing with for a long time.'
Clark said he 'completely understands' why Devers didn't want to work with him at first base with the Red Sox in town — since the freshly traded slugger would have had to 'go through all that bullsh–t, through the press and the media.'

Devers, whom the Red Sox dealt to the Giants in mid-June for pitchers Jordan Hicks, Kyle Harrison, Jose Bello and outfielder James Tibbs III, refused to play first base in Boston when the team asked.
Devers, 28, has hit .225 with two homers and nine RBIs in his first 80 at-bats in San Francisco.
He has yet to play a position besides DH with the Giants.

Russell Wilson Played Big Role in Free Agent's Visit With NY Giants
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. For the third straight season, Russell Wilson finds himself on a new team. Though his future with the New York Giants is uncertain, it isn't stopping him from helping the organization make roster upgrades. Though he isn't the superstar talent he once was, Wilson is still a former Super Bowl winner and a notable name in the league. Knowing this, he seems to be putting forth the effort to add more weapons around him in 2025. Last week, free agent wide receiver Gabe Davis made an appearance on the Up & Adams show. Among the topics they talked about was his recent visit with the Giants. Davis opened up on getting to meet numerous members of the organization, but one of the big things for him was Wilson having dinner with him. "Going out to New York and seeing those guys and talk with them. Russ came to dinner, that was dope. Having Russell Wilson there that was pretty sick. He's a legend" When asked about the idea of catching passes from Wilson this year, Davis didn't shy away from it being something he's giving a lot of thought to. "That's me and Russ' game for sure," Davis continued. "Definitely deep ball threat and Russ knows how to sling it downfield. Something that I've looked into for sure." He had a lot of success playing with an elite-level QB in Josh Allen, notching at least seven touchdowns in three different seasons. Davis decided to hit the open market last offseason, eventually winding up on the Jacksonville Jaguars. His production took a massive dip, resulting in the front office cutting ties with him. He proved in Buffalo that he can be an effective weapon when paired with the right QB. Based on his comments about Wilson, it looks like he views him as someone he could thrive alongside. While it appears that Davis had a successful visit with the Giants, only time will tell if it results in him joining Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton in New York's receiver corps. ESPN reporter Holly Rowe shares possible timeline for Caitlin Clark return from injury
During the nationally broadcast 93-78 Indiana Fever win over the Chicago Sky from the United Center on Sunday afternoon, ESPN reporter Holly Rowe provided a more in-depth update on Caitlin Clark's injury and when the former Hawkeye could be expected to return to action. Clark, who has remained out since July 15 after suffering a right groin injury against the Connecticut Sun, remains a constant presence on the bench for the Fever as the team plays without its franchise cornerstone. '[Clark] did see a specialist last week, and no additional injury was found in that exam and scans. Stephanie White did tell us that they will be even more cautious in their approach to her return to play this time. 'Last time when she came back from injury, she didn't get any practice time [or] any time to ramp up her conditioning. This time, they're going to make sure she has time and practice to get rhythm and time with her teammates," Rowe said. Sunday's game marked the fourth consecutive game Clark has missed due to the right groin ailment. In total, Clark has now been absent for 13 regular season games with three different injury setbacks. Rowe finished her report on Clark by pointing to the Fever's schedule, which features a five-day break around the third week of August, between Indiana's Aug. 17 road game against the Connecticut Sun and their Aug. 22 home game against the Minnesota Lynx. While admitting that Clark remains "day-to-day" according to the team, Rowe alluded to the specific window between games as an ideal timetable for a potential return, given the star guard's ability to secure a few more days of practice during that period. As you look at their schedule, the third week in August provides a few more practice days where that seems like it's realistic. While she does remain day-to-day, that seems like a better timetable for a possible Caitlin Clark return," Rowe said. As for the immediate future, Indiana (14-12) will look to continue their confident play when the team returns home to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for a matchup against former teammate DeWanna Bonner and the Phoenix Mercury (16-9) on Wednesday, July 30. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN3.
