ASU coach: New York Giants' Cam Skattebo is 'all-ball,' has 'elite' football IQ
Even before getting drafted by the New York Giants, there was hype surrounding running back Cam Skattebo. The Giants took Skattebo in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft in hopes that he can complement the running style of Tyrone Tracy. Skattebo, who played at Arizona State University, recently received heavy praise from his former running backs coach, Shaun Aguano. "Great personality," Aguano told the Giants Huddle Podcast. "Intense guy that played the underdog mentality the whole time. What people don't understand, and you don't find this too much, is he loves football. He's an all-ball guy. That kind of persuaded me to jump on him real quick and persuade him to get to Arizona State. His football intelligence is probably one of the most elite things about him, as well as his athletic ability. But he understands the game of football and loves the game of football." Aguano was involved in recruiting Skattebo to play for Arizona State after playing the first two seasons of his college career at Sacramento State. After going in the fourth round of the draft, you can bet Skattebo is going to play with a chip on his shoulder in his rookie year and beyond. With the emergence of Tracy last season, Skattebo and his counterpart could be a great running back duo for years to come for the Giants. With Skattebo's aggressive running style and high football IQ, he fits the mold of the type of player head coach Brian Daboll looks for: "Smart, tough and dependable." The praise Skattebo received from his former running back coach only adds to the hype around the Giants' rookie running back.

Jaxson Dart named New York Giants' Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate
When the New York Giants drafted quarterback Jaxson Dart out of the University of Mississippi, head coach Brian Daboll made it clear that veteran Russell Wilson was the starting quarterback. Although that still seems to be the case, over the last couple of weeks, there has been speculative chatter that the Giants have not ruled out starting their rookie to start the season. Pro Football Network recently released a list of the top Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates for all 32 NFL teams, and Dart was the top candidate for Big Blue. New York Giants: Jaxson Dart, QB How much Jaxson Dart will play in 2025 is still unknown. However, what we do know is that the Offensive Rookie of the Year award has historically been given to quarterbacks, with 11 such winners since the year 2000. Dart's 2024 season with the Ole Miss Rebels shouldn't be understated. He had a QB+ grade of 90.5 last season in Oxford, the highest of any quarterback in the FBS and the 15th-highest QB+ grade since 2019. If Brian Daboll can get Dart reproducing similar numbers in his rookie season, then the award could very well be heading to the Big Apple. Realistically, Dart is the Giants' candidate by default, as the team's draft class consists of only four offensive players. Other than Dart, the Giants have offensive lineman Marcus Mbow (fifth round), running back Cam Skattebo (fourth round), and tight end Thomas Fidone (seventh round), all of whom have to climb the depth chart to make the starting lineup. In Dart's case, it's well documented that Daboll is pretty enamored with his rookie quarterback. With the Giants' schedule being among the most difficult in the NFL, if the team's record isn't promising in the early part of the season, we could see Dart sooner rather than later. Depending on how much Dart plays, he could certainly be an Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate, especially with a big-time target like Malik Nabers to throw the ball to.

Alternate NFL universe: What if Tennessee Titans traded No. 1 overall pick?
Now that the NFL is in the home stretch before training camp, it's always fun to look back at some of the what-ifs that were spawned from rumors throughout the offseason. Whether it was phantom free agent signings or trades that never developed, there were quite a few storylines that could have been, but never came to fruition. The Tennessee Titans sat at the center of a few of those, but none more so than the mystery surrounding the first overall selection and whether they would stay put and make the selection. At one point, immediately after the NFL Scouting Combine, it appeared as if trading away the pick was a foregone conclusion, but in the end, they stayed at No. 1 and selected Cam Ward, and the rest is history. Cody Benjamin wondered the same thing and listed the potential trade of the first overall pick as one of the five what-ifs that could have changed the face of the NFL in 2025 and beyond. Cam Ward to the Giants Embattled general manager Joe Schoen lived up to his promise to "look under every rock" for quarterback help this offseason, adding not one but three new passers in Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and first-round draft pick Jaxson Dart. The thing is, he may have settled for just one, had he gotten his wish. After failing to acquire Stafford in a blockbuster trade, Schoen's Giants were reported as front-runners to land the No. 1 pick in the draft, with Miami's Cam Ward the anticipated target. What if the Tennessee Titans hadn't been smitten with Ward -- or just so desperate for their own new signal-caller -- and actually dealt the top pick to Big Blue? We might be preparing for Ward to open the 2025 season as the new face of the Giants with head coach Brian Daboll finally set to deploy a gunslinger with long-term promise. Although no official details were released, NFL insiders reported that the Titans declined an offer from the New York Giants for the top pick. This means that the Giants did not meet the requirements of the historic haul that general manager Mike Borgonzi was searching for. Ward has been everything that the Titans expected since landing in Nashville, and there is no doubt he would have made the same impact if he had made his way to New York. The Giants eventually took Jackson Dart, but Ward would have been a no-brainer. He was the top quarterback in the class, and with his college experience and football acumen, he appears ready to take over the offense. Had the Titans traded out of the spot, it is likely that their entire draft strategy would have changed, and that Abdul Carter would have been the selection. This also means that they would likely be riding with Will Levis as the starter heading into the season. While fans may freak out with that proposition, Levis has had a tremendous offseason and looks like a different quarterback. The extra work he put in with Jordan Palmer appears to have paid off. What they would have done with the rest of the selections, and what those selections would have been, may be a mystery. Still, they would not have selected Femi Oladejo in the second round if they had taken Carter, and their haul would have been entirely different. Looking back, if he had gone to New York, Ward would have made for an interesting competition between Russell Wilson during the offseason and training camp. Instead, he is in Nashville preparing to be the face of the franchise. Now that the dust has settled, Titans fans are excited that this was a what-if and not a reality.
