Linda Vista Gardens to benefit from new investment
Work will include improved access, new interpretation panels, and the installation of solar panels on the café to support greener energy use.
Cllr Catrin Maby, Monmouthshire County Council's cabinet member for climate change and the environment, said: "Linda Vista Gardens is already a wonderful place to visit, both for Abergavenny residents and those travelling to the town.
"This funding will allow us to further improve a popular attraction, making it accessible for even more visitors.
"The addition of solar panels will also make the café more sustainable in terms of its energy use."
Additional plans include reinstating views across Castle Meadows and towards the Blorenge, as well as installing a café screen showing live wildlife camera feeds.
Monmouthshire County Council thanked Abergavenny Town Council for providing vital match funding to support the project.
The total budget for the improvements is around £100,000.
Residents will be kept informed of the work through public notices, and project teams will aim to keep disruption to a minimum.

Nuclear manufacturing factory opens in North Wales
A new major nuclear production facility has been unveiled in North Wales today. Boccard, an international engineering, manufacturing, construction and maintenance company based in Lyon, France, is opening the 200 worker facility on Deeside. The new strategic hub is seen as a vital move in developing a supply chain capable of meeting the UK Government's nuclear build programme. Boccard is involved with the manufacturing of high-integrity components such as pipework, supports, tanks and modular systems are pivotal to the nuclear sector and essential for the power generation and food ingredients industries. The new facility will create over 200 permanent positions and provide a major boost to the Deeside region and further afield. It will support the development of nuclear sites like Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C and potentially a new nuclear plant or Small Modular Reactors at Wylfa on Anglesey in the future. Monmouth Shire Hall project to receive £1.5 million grant
Monmouthshire County Council has secured a £1.5 million grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to support the Shire Hall Project, which will transform the Grade I-listed Shire Hall in Monmouth into a vibrant, accessible community space. Councillor Sara Burch, Monmouthshire County Council's cabinet member for rural affairs, housing and tourism, said: "The National Lottery Heritage Fund, together with support from Welsh Government and local funds, will allow us to transform Shire Hall into a wonderful museum, showcasing the Nelson Collection and the history of Monmouth and telling many other important stories in accessible and engaging ways. "We will continue to work with the people of Monmouth and Monmouth Town Council to bring this vision to life." The project will deliver new gallery spaces, a modern heating system, and areas designed to generate income, supporting the building's long-term sustainability and environmental goals. It will also prioritise community engagement through volunteering opportunities, events, and activities. Andrew White, director of The National Lottery Heritage Fund in Wales, said: "We know that heritage can play a huge role in bringing people together and creating a sense of pride in people's hometowns and cities, and in turn boosting the local economy. "That is why we're delighted to award £1.5 million to transform Monmouth's historic Shire Hall into an inspiring community museum."
