After creepily mastering vampires with his hit Nosferatu remake, director Robert Eggers will reportedly bring back its stars Aaron Taylor Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp for his new werewolf movie
Director Robert Eggers is bringing back Aaron Taylor-Johnson, one of the stars of his hit Nosferatu remake, for his new werewolf movie, Werwulf, and Lily-Rose Depp may also be coming along for the ride, according to Variety.
Eggers is also bringing back Sjón, his co-writer from The Northman, which again makes sense given the historical origins of the werewolf myth, which takes some cultural inspiration from the concept of the berserker, viking warriors who entered animalistic states of frenzy in battle.
The Northman was praised by Viking historians for its accuracy and attention to detail (with some caveats about the larger-than-life action sequences), qualities Eggers also brought to the design and dialogue of his first film The Witch, its follow up The Lighthouse, and of course, Nosferatu. It seems that will also be a priority for Werwulf.
Stories of humans that become savage animals through magical means are common throughout many cultures the world over, but the specific concept of the werewolf evolved from the Anglo-Saxon myth of the 'werwulf,' translated from Old English as 'man-wolf,' a term which of course lends itself to the title of Eggers' film.
I'm personally extremely excited to see Eggers offer up a historical werewolf movie that taps into the same spirit of The Witch, a personal favorite of mine, and Nosferatu, to create a horror movie soaked in atmospheric terror. A dash of The Norseman's famed historical accuracy also feels like the perfect touch for a werewolf movie which Eggers has said is the "darkest" thing he's ever written.
Eggers has just about the best track record of any director going right now in terms of cranking out movies that hit just right, and I have all faith Werwulf will also hit the mark. Following in the tradition of Nosferatu, Werwulf is currently scheduled for release on Christmas Day 2026.

Ulrika Jonsson has hit back at cruel trolls who accused her of looking too "tanned" and "old". The 57-year-old TV presenter has admitted she was hurt by the "nasty comments" she received after making a recent appearance on a podcast in which she was not wearing any make-up - warning online haters not to "constantly judge" people by their looks and that "making people feel s*** doesn't make you a hero". In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "I feel I need to address something. I don't get a lot of nasty comments - or if I do, I don't see them or send people love in response. "But a couple of weeks ago I took part in a fab podcast @ to discuss my sobriety with the smart @spencermatthews. "I wore no make-up. Partly because I kinda forgot that a project for the ears is nowadays also a feast for the eyes." Ulrika went on to insist she doesn't like wearing make-up because she spent so many years being primped for her TV appearances and she has also battled skin condition eczema since childhood. She added: "As someone who has had to wear heavy make-up on screen from 5am for years, I'm not a fan. "Most crucially tho, since childhood I've suffered from eczema. On my body - the creases of my arms and legs - on my face - eyes and lips. Make-up has always been the enemy because it's been agony to wear." Ulrika went on to address the trolling she received, writing: "There were a lot of positive comments about the WORDS I said on the podcast. But a considerable amount about my tanned appearance. AND how OLD I look. "In a few weeks I will be 58. I will never look like the fresh 21yr old [sic] that used to greet you first thing in the morning by the weather board. "I'm not ashamed to say that I am a sun worshipper and will no doubt pay the price for that. But UV lamps and salt baths, astringent solutions and creams were a feature of my life since I was a small child. "I have uneven pigmentation doubtlessly not helped by ageing. I sometimes use filters in my pics because it's easier than foundation and less painful. "I work tirelessly in my garden year round and often in the sun. I rarely sunbathe any more. Haven't had a sunbed for 6 months - which I do occasionally in winter months. Not ashamed. "I have not had a holiday - of any kind - since 2018. That's 7yrs. So, I understand that an over-tanned, imperfect and AGEING face offends you. But try to listen to the words rather than constantly judge women's appearance. "You might learn something. And making people feel s*** doesn't make you a hero."

Peacock's highly anticipated Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake has officially added five new recurring guest stars to its cast. Leading the new additions is Callum Vinson ( Chucky, Long Bright River ), who will take on the role of a young Jason Voorhees. Vinson joins previously announced series lead Linda Cardellini, who stars as Jason's mother, Pamela Voorhees. The prequel will explore Pamela's life before the bloody events that launched one of horror's most iconic franchises. Alongside Vinson, the recurring cast now includes Nick Cordileone ( Warrior ) as Ralph, Joy Suprano ( Fleishman Is in Trouble, Best Foot Forward ) as Rita, Danielle Kotch ( Director's Cut ) as Claudette, and Phoenix Parnevik ( Bel-Air, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter Is Dead ) as Barry. They join series regulars William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Plot details remain tightly under wraps, but fans can expect the show to dive deep into Pamela's backstory and the origins of Camp Crystal Lake. Brad Caleb Kane serves as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer. A24 is producing, with original Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller returning as an executive producer alongside Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P.
