Two 15-year-old dog siblings have melted hearts across the internet, as their shelter hopes to find them a forever home—ideally, together.
Oliver and Savannah were placed in the care of Frosted Faces Foundation, a California-based nonprofit that specializes in senior dog rescue, in March after their owner passed away.
A heartwarming TikTok video of the elderly pups sleeping side-by-side, shared by @peakepups, has racked up over 33,200 likes and more than 178,300 views on the platform.
"Over the past three-plus months, while on-site and in a foster home, we've gotten to know them very well; their sweet personalities, resilience, and all the ways they are different," Kelly Smíšek, from the Frosted Faces Foundation, told Newsweek.
"While we would love to see Oliver and Savannah find a forever home together, what matters most is that they spend their remaining years as cherished family members," Smíšek added.

Smíšek described Oliver as a happy and affectionate dog who still behaves much younger than his age. He enjoys morning greetings, car rides, and even stand-up paddleboarding. Back scratches are a particular favorite.
Oliver is spending time with a temporary foster family as part of Frosted Faces' "Frosted Fling" program, while Savannah has returned to her previous foster home. Both are said to be thriving in their respective placements.
Oliver's temporary caregiver shared further insights into his personality, noting: "Oliver is a gentle, easygoing pup who gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and people alike. At 15, he's still full of youthful energy and spirit—his cheerful, bouncy gait makes every walk feel like an adventure," she said.
Oliver is full-potty trained and while not a lapdog, loves affection and pets.
"Oliver is truly a sweet soul with a warm heart—wise beyond his years but still young at heart," she added.

Savannah, meanwhile, is described as a quiet and gentle soul who, despite being both blind and deaf, is incredibly adaptable. She loves to rearrange the room, by scooting her bed across the floor until it is the way she likes it. The pup is also a great car passenger.
"Savannah is a quiet, sweet, super mellow girl. Although, she is blind and deaf, she had no trouble mapping my home and yard," her foster carer said.
"Savannah comes up often to boop my leg for pets or to get picked up. She loves to be held, especially cradled like a baby, and she sleeps through the night in my bed," her foster carer added.
The Frosted Faces Foundation offers lifelong veterinary care coverage for the dogs, and there is no adoption fee—just a commitment to provide them a loving home.
Bonded pairs such as Oliver and Savannah can be more challenging to place, but the emotional rewards are significant.
Rescue in Style says that bonded pairs often offer built-in companionship; reduce anxiety for each other; and help new adopters adjust more quickly. While some may worry about double the responsibility, many find that the bond between the animals creates a more-harmonious household dynamic.
There are also distinct benefits to adopting senior dogs. As pet-food manufacturer Purina highlights, older dogs are typically calmer, require less-intensive exercise, and are often already trained. Their personalities are fully formed, making it easier for adopters to find a good match. Perhaps most importantly, giving an older dog a loving home in their twilight years is one of the most-rewarding experiences for a pet owner.
The video has struck a chord with TikTok viewers, many of whom shared their hopes for the siblings' future.
"My sweet senior dog just passed, I would love to give these guys the best in their final years. Do you allow out of state adoptions? I can come see and meet them, I am in Vegas," posted one user.
"Someone pls [please] help them and keep them together. Their owner died and it's tough for them … my heart is broken for them! Hope they live out the rest of their lives together in happiness," commented another.

Woman Loses Sister Aged 23—Nearly Decade on, Tragedy Hits on the Anniversary

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. For Taylor LaRocque, life has taken a series of unimaginable turns. In an Instagram reel, she revealed the shocking loss of her mother that she suffered eight years after her sister's death—on the very same day. Since then, she has taken to the internet to share her reflections about grief and family, finding her voice more and more along the way. LaRocque, 31, told Newsweek about the double tragedy she never saw coming and what she wishes she had known in her earliest days of grief. "My sister passes away at 23 on our family vacation, thinking this is the lowest s*** could get," she captioned the video. "My mom passes away on the same day as my sister eight years later." Photos from Taylor LaRocque's Instagram reel about losing her sister and mother. Photos from Taylor LaRocque's Instagram reel about losing her sister and mother. @travellingthroughgrief/Instagram LaRocque's sister, Jessy, was the oldest of three siblings, with LaRocque being the youngest and her brother Wesley the middle child. For LaRocque, the five-year age gap made Jessy more than just a sibling. "She was my all-star, my Beyoncé, my everything," LaRocque said. As a role model, Jessy even got LaRocque and her brother their first phones, first jobs and first credit cards. With their parents working long hours, Jessy's role became more than just a sister from a young age. "My sister was a sensitive soul and the kindest human being in the world," LaRocque said. They had dreams of living together and traveling, and she strongly believes her travel-loving sister is "by the ocean somewhere, enjoying a drink." LaRocque's mother, Rose-A-Lee, was a similar icon of inspiration and love. Independent early on, she left home at 18 to build a remarkable career. LaRocque described her as "the bread winner, a boss queen and an inspiration to my siblings and I." Her parents had been together since high school, moving to Ottawa as young parents and buying their first home when LaRocque was born. "My mom created a home, family holidays, backyard celebrations and an open-door policy to my siblings and I and our family and friends," LaRocque said. "[She] was my best friend, an inspiration, the most-caring human." A Horrible Tragedy Repeated LaRocque's first family tragedy struck on November 25, 2012. She and her family were on vacation in Cuba when Jessy passed away at the age of 23 from "sudden death of cardiovascular origin." "We found her unconscious in her hotel bed in the early morning," LaRocque said. The experience was harrowing. "There was no defibrillator; unsuccessful CPR attempts by my father and I; and a jarring transport ride on a golf cart to a medical station on the resort that left my family and I scarred for life. "Taking a flight home beside an empty seat where my sister should have sat will leave my family and I heartbroken for the rest of our lives," LaRocque added. Then, eight years later, on the exact same date in 2020, history tragically repeated itself. She found her mother unconscious in their family living room after shoveling snow. Just moments before, they were on the phone as LaRocque was on her way to spend the difficult anniversary of her sister's death together. "My mom died of a heart attack and a broken heart," she said. "Another failed CPR attempt and a frantic phone call to 911 still did not bring my mother or my sister back." Navigating Loss Navigating such immense and compounded grief has been an arduous journey for LaRocque. "Honestly, I really do not know how I have gotten through these last 13 years," she said. After Jessy's death when LaRocque was 18 and in her first year of university, she said time was "ultimately a blur." She began therapy while managing the grief of the rest of her family, while studying and working full time. Her work in youth and child services, however, provided a crucial sense of purpose, helping her process the loss. But her mother's passing in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic brought new challenges. "Our family and friends were unable to come together to celebrate her until … 2021, [for] my mother's 58th birthday," LaRocque said. This second loss was a "major wake-up call." During a period of job and moving transitions, she decided to start sharing her story online and create community around her grief—an "eye-opening and amazing experience," she said, which helped her feel less alone. Her Advice for Healing Reflecting on her journey, LaRocque offered valuable advice to her younger self and others facing similar pain. A phrase her mom often used, "this too shall pass," deeply resonates. "I would make sure to tell younger Tay that your friends and family are going to lift you up in the darkest of times and 'you got you, Tay' … Working through your grief is understanding that grieving is not linear …," LaRocque said. "I wake up every day and make the decision to work through the day, and sometimes that looks like laying on the couch all day." LaRocque said she hopes her shared story brings solace to others facing similar tragedies. "No one knows when death will hit you, your family or friends," she added. "But leaning in, listening to your body and prioritizing yourself will be the greatest gift you can give yourself in your hardest times."

Ohtani's next big hit? A children's book about his dog Decoy

Injuries may have prevented Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani from throwing from the mound recently, but they haven't stopped him from coming up with a new pitch: co-writing a children's book based on his baseball-fetching dog Decoy. The three-time MVP posted a teaser on his Instagram on Thursday, featuring a picture of Decoy, a Kooikerhondje, sitting next to the fiction book that represents his first foray into the world of children's books. Of course, it's about baseball. The cover of 'Decoy Saves Opening Day' is adorned by a cartoon version of Decoy – with a baseball in his mouth – alongside the Japanese star donning his signature number 17 jersey at a baseball field. In the story, Decoy is supposed to throw the first pitch to mark the opening of the new baseball season – until he finds out he's left his baseball at home, according to the website of publisher HarperCollins. 'Can he get his ball and make it back to the stadium before it's too late?' it teased. Ohtani and his furry companion hope the book will support nonprofits helping to rehome stray and abandoned dogs, with the book to go on sale on February 3 next year, according to the website. Ohtani co-wrote the book with Michael Blank, with illustrations by Fanny Liem. In May, the Dodgers star returned to the mound to delight the crowd at Citi Field ahead of the Dodgers' game against the New York Mets, pitching for the first time in nearly two years. He underwent a procedure to repair the right ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow in 2023. During that appearance, Ohtani threw 22 pitches across five simulated plate appearances, with mostly cutters, sinkers and fastballs hovering around 94-95 mph and maxing out at 97 mph.

After Being Accused Of Using Ozempic And Looking Unrecognizable In Her New Gym Selfies, People Are Sprinting To Serena Williams's Defense

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time Serena Williams's physical appearance has been the target of scrutiny by the public, but this time, fans are firing back at the negativity. Serena, who's often referred to as the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time) when it comes to tennis, has been the target of criticism since she began playing the sport professionally at the young age of 14, with her older sister, Venus Williams, who's also a highly decorated Olympian. From the beads she wore in her hair... ...to the "controversial" outfits she rocked on the court, Serena has been the target of scrutiny since the beginning, with conversations often having nothing to do with the sport itself. Related: 10 Nepo Babies Who Ended Up Becoming More Famous Than Their Celeb Parents But some of the most shocking and disgusting comments that have been uttered or typed about the multi-Grand Slam winner, were focused specifically on her body. For decades the media has always had a weird fascination with the shape, look, and size of Serena's body. She appeared "different" compared to other athletes in the predominantly white sport, which made her and her sister prime targets for racism and microaggressions. Serena remembered being called the n-word during the 2001 BNP Paribas Open in California, as the crowd booed Serena and her sister. undefined The mom of two was (and, honestly, still is) constantly compared to an animal, while others called her aggressive and frightening. Her athletic build was deemed unattractive, unfeminine, and frequently likened to the physique of a man. But despite the incessant body-shaming, Serena never let that get in the way of winning. She is now one of the most decorated tennis players in history, breaking records and barriers throughout her impressive career. Serena announced her retirement in 2022, citing she was "evolving away" from the sport. In fact, she wanted to shy away from the word "retirement" and think of it more as an "evolution." She also mentioned a desire to expand her family. Outside of raising two daughters — 7-year-old Olympia and 1-year-old Adira River — with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, Serena has her hands in many buckets, including running a venture capital firm, co-owning a WNBA team, and more. But even as she continues to expand her empire, somehow the focus always comes back to Serena's appearance. On July 11, Serena shared a series of gym selfies after a workout. She playfully captioned the carousel, "Working out and working on my angles."
