Watch: Claire's mom travels back in time in 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood'
The trailer released Thursday shows Claire Randall's mother Julia (Hermione Corfield) travel back in time to 18th-century Scotland, where she meets Jamie Fraser's mother Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater).
Julia helps bring together Ellen and Jamie's father Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), who are from two rival Scottish clans.
Meanwhile, Claire's father Henry (Jeremy Irvine) searches for Julia in their present time of early 20th-century England.
According to an official synopsis, "Outlander: Blood of my Blood is a romantic saga that unfolds across time."
The series stands on its own, but a press release states that fans of the original series will learn "new perspectives" about the original characters when watching it.
"From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of the 18th century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways," the official description continues.
Tony Curran, Seamus McLean Ross, Sam Retford, Rory Alexander and Conor MacNeill also star.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood premieres Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. EDT on Starz.

Chris Bryant says he was sexually abused by former National Youth Theatre boss
Labour MP Sir Chris Bryant says he was sexually abused as a teenager by the head of the National Youth Theatre, Michael Croft. Sir Chris said Mr Croft, who died in 1986, had invited him to dinner every evening while he was attending the company in London during the summer of 1978. Mr Croft was 40 years the then 16-year-old's senior and Sir Chris said one evening, having returned to Mr Croft's house, he came back from the toilet to find his host naked except for a silk robe. The MP said Mr Croft then asked him for sex, which he felt he had no option but to go through with, leaving him feeling like he was 'a 16-year-old whore'. In an interview with The Sunday Times ahead of the release of his book A Life And A Half: The Unexpected Making Of A Politician, Sir Chris said: 'I don't like telling this very much because I've not told it very often. 'It was always the same Italian in King's Cross. He would eat and drink, I would eat, then he would theoretically give me a lift home, except I always ended up at his house.' Sir Chris says Mr Croft never made an advance towards him again, with the pair remaining friends. An ordained minister, he conducted Mr Croft's funeral. 'He behaved absolutely appallingly, it's despicable,' Sir Chris added. 'Michael, in my case, managed to spot somebody who was gay at a time when nearly all homosexuality was illegal – certainly very frowned on – so presumed that people would keep a secret.' He said at least one friend during his National Youth Theatre days was also abused by Mr Croft. The 63-year-old also said he has been sexually assaulted by five male MPs during his time in Westminster, although he has not named or reported them. 'There was no system for doing so and I was frightened it would make me look bad,' he said, adding he felt homophobia in Parliament has declined during his 24 years as an MP. A statement on the National Youth Theatre website said: 'We are grateful to Chris Bryant for disclosing to our team the historical abuse he suffered in the company in the 1970s. We are very sorry that this happened to him and to others who have previously shared with us their accounts of historic abuse by the same perpetrator. 'As we set out in a public statement on the case in 2017, we stand in solidarity with all victims of abuse and encourage anyone who has experienced abuse, no matter how long ago, to speak to someone and access support. 'In this case the perpetrator has been deceased since 1986, but all reports made to us will be dealt with in accordance with our robust and formalised safeguarding policy and practice. 'While Chris writes he doesn't feel damaged by what happened, we recognise that being subjected to an abuse of power can have lasting consequences for many, in different ways. 'Anyone getting in touch will be listened to and treated with care and respect by trained professionals, in line with our certified trauma-informed practice. 'We are grateful to Chris for his support of our organisation today, and acknowledgement of how different a charity we are in 2025 to the one he encountered in the 1970s, with thorough safeguarding practices and policies in place.'

In celebration of Inverclyde's thriving music scene, the Telegraph goes backstage with a local band or artist every month. This month, we're profiling funk and soul band Sovirez to find out about their musical journey. Sovirez are vocalist Anthony Squires, Steven Jess on guitar, Neil McKenzie on bass guitar, Chris Squires on drums, and Graeme Gray on keyboard and trumpet. (Image: Sovirez) Brothers Chris and Anthony Squires first formed the band in 2018, and the five-piece line up was created the following year. They officially launched in 2020 and performed at local open mic nights. Vocalist Anthony said while local gigs helped the band get a foothold on the music scene, there's a festival they have their hearts set on. But they're staying true to their roots too. He added: 'The ultimate gig would have to be on the main stage at Glastonbury. 'It's iconic and special, and something I think that most bands would aspire to. 'Somewhere closer to home that would be incredible to perform at, other than the obvious choices of the Hydro and Hampden, would be Cappielow Park.' Sovirez have achieved a lot over the last few years but there are a few moments that stand out. Anthony said: 'It's hard to pick one thing as our biggest achievement because each one at the time has meant so much to us. 'From our first sold-out shows, and our song being named 'single of the week' on BBC Scotland, to headlining the second stage at ButeFest twice, we've had a lot of great moments.' The band, who describe themselves as 'funky, fun, and determined', played Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival last night (Friday). They're set for PrestFest in August, and then a double header in early September playing at the Largs Viking Festival and headlining Greenock's Gig on the Green. (Image: Sovirez) Anthony said getting through covid has been the biggest challenge for the band to date. He added: 'We had just performed in public for the first time and we were ready to start gigging, and then everything just stopped. 'We used that period to really focus on writing and continued to have band Zoom calls to discuss our ideas with each other.' When it comes to writing songs for the band, Anthony says it's very much a 'collective effort'. He said: 'Each member tends to write their own parts. As a group we are all open to suggestions and ideas from each other.' Members of the band are all influenced by a range of bands and artists. Anthony said he's listening to Alan Stone, Jalen Ngonda and MT Jones, and bassist Neil is a huge fan of American singer-songwriter and guitarist John Mayer. While there are many bands they would love to meet, there's one icon that stands out. Anthony added: 'As a funk and soul band, it would be very cool to cross paths with someone like Nile Rodgers. 'He's a legend of the business, has written hit after hit and comes across as genuinely nice person.'

Spider-Man: Brand New Day leaks are here already as filming begins – and they might have just confirmed Mister Negative as the film's villain

It's been filming for mere hours, but major leaks have already emerged from the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. As spotted by one bystander on the streets of Glasgow, a heavy-duty armored truck was getting wheeled into position for a sequence in the fourth MCU Spider-Man movie. Look a little closer, however, and you'll see a red demon mark on its side. If you've played Insomniac's Spider-Man games, you might notice how closely that resembles the logo of the Inner Demons, led by a certain Mister Negative. It's something that has quickly sent fans into overdrive, too. It's worth tempering expectations just for now, however. As of writing, the villain for Spider-Man: Brand New Day hasn't been confirmed, nor have we had any announcement regarding which actor – if any – will be playing Mister Negative. A recent glimpse behind the scenes also hinted at D-list villains forming part of the film's rogues' gallery. First debuting in a Free Comic Book Day issue of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2007, Mister Negative (alias Martin Li) is often depicted as a ruthless gunrunner and crime lord who can utilize the power of the Darkforce to control minds, manipulate energy, and be imbued with superstrength. Notably, he worked to create the Devil's Breath, an immensely powerful bioweapon, and is perhaps best known for his appearances in Insomniac's Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 games. Spider-Man: Brand New Day once again stars Tom Holland as the titular wallcrawler. He is joined by series mainstays Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, as well as Stranger Things actor Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal, who reprises his role as The Punisher after entering the MCU as part of Daredevil: Born Again. Brand New Day also appears to be set before Avengers: Doomsday. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will swing into cinemas on July 31, 2026.
