Khushbu Rajendra on trusting the process and balancing performance with pressure in Ram Bhavan, says 'It's fun to play a challenging character'
Actor Khushbu Rajendra, who plays the nuanced role of Isha in Ram Bhavan, speaks candidly about the complexities of television storytelling, her personal approach to performance, and the delicate balance between glamour, audience expectations, and authenticity.
Reflecting on the twists and changes her character undergoes, Khushbu says,
'It's fun to play a challenging character. But yes, there is some pressure, mostly about how the audience will receive a new plot or how the TRP will reflect it. But not on the performance side. I completely trust the writers. They filter their ideas well before bringing them to us, and I believe in their process.'
According to her, the real strength of any storyline lies in its emotional truth.
'A story—simple or complex—only works when it connects to the depth of your reality. That's when the audience really engages. It all depends on how truthfully the actor and director can reflect that reality on screen,' she says.
Khushbu also touches on a unique aspect of television—maintaining a visual appeal without compromising the story.
'Keeping the glamour quotient high is important, but not for every character.
If the lead isn't meant to be glamorous, the audience still relates as long as the story holds. Usually, characters with grey shades carry more style, while leads often go through emotional upheaval. But yes, there should be some glamour in every character's life—it adds a visual texture.'
As the storyline in Ram Bhavan continues to evolve, Khushbu's confidence in the creative team and her grounded approach to performance make her portrayal of Isha both engaging and relatable. For her, it's less about the pressure and more about the joy of transformation—on and off screen.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Tops TRP Charts, Beats Anupamaa
TMKOC has beaten Rupali Ganguly's Anupamaa to clinch the first spot in the list and become the most-watched show of this week. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, the longest-running Indian comedy series, continues to win hearts with its signature humour and strong portrayal of community and family values. Since its premiere in 2008, the show has remained a fan favourite and now, it has reclaimed the number one spot on the TRP charts. That's right! TMKOC has surpassed Rupali Ganguly's popular daily soap Anupamaa to become the most-watched show of the week. Interestingly, the current 'Bhootni 2.0" storyline seems to have worked wonders for the show's ratings — and that too without the presence of its main lead, Jethalal (played by Dilip Joshi). The eerie, suspenseful twist has brought a refreshing change to the otherwise light-hearted tone of TMKOC. For long-time fans, the ghostly theme sparked nostalgia, reminding them of earlier haunted episodes that left the Gokuldham Society in similar spooky chaos. Riding high on the success of the show, producer Asit Kumar Modi expressed his happiness and said, 'TMKOC is not just a show—it's a team effort, a shared dream. I believe in the power of storytelling rooted in values, and none of this would be possible without the dedication of our writers, cast, crew and the affection of our fans." The absence of Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta aka Jethalal and Babita Ji in the current plot left the users speculating that both of them have decided to quit the show. As for the current plot, every member of the Gokuldham society is on holiday in a haunted cottage. While other characters, such as Bapu ji, Popatlal, and Sodhi, have joined Taarak Mehta and Anjali on their vacation, Jethalal and Babita Ji have been absent. This has left everyone wondering if Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta are planning to leave. According to ABP News, the show's production house has confirmed that Munmun Dutta and Dilip Joshi are still a part of the show. While the current plotline suggests that Jethalal is on a business trip with his colleagues, Babita and Iyer are believed to be vacationing in Mahabaleshwar. The show features Dilip Joshi, Munmun Dutta, Mandar Chandwadkar, Sonalika Joshi, Amit Bhatt and Shyam Pathak among others in the leads. First Published:
