Khushbu Rajendra on trusting the process and balancing performance with pressure in Ram Bhavan, says 'It's fun to play a challenging character'

Actor Khushbu Rajendra, who plays the nuanced role of Isha in Ram Bhavan, speaks candidly about the complexities of television storytelling, her personal approach to performance, and the delicate balance between glamour, audience expectations, and authenticity. Reflecting on the twists and changes her character undergoes, Khushbu says, 'It's fun to play a challenging character. But yes, there is some pressure, mostly about how the audience will receive a new plot or how the TRP will reflect it. But not on the performance side. I completely trust the writers. They filter their ideas well before bringing them to us, and I believe in their process.' According to her, the real strength of any storyline lies in its emotional truth. 'A story—simple or complex—only works when it connects to the depth of your reality. That's when the audience really engages. It all depends on how truthfully the actor and director can reflect that reality on screen,' she says. Khushbu also touches on a unique aspect of television—maintaining a visual appeal without compromising the story. 'Keeping the glamour quotient high is important, but not for every character. If the lead isn't meant to be glamorous, the audience still relates as long as the story holds. Usually, characters with grey shades carry more style, while leads often go through emotional upheaval. But yes, there should be some glamour in every character's life—it adds a visual texture.' As the storyline in Ram Bhavan continues to evolve, Khushbu's confidence in the creative team and her grounded approach to performance make her portrayal of Isha both engaging and relatable. For her, it's less about the pressure and more about the joy of transformation—on and off screen.

Exclusive - Srushti Mishra: Ram Bhavan is my comfort zone

Srushti Mishra, who plays the role of Ragini in Rahul Kumar Tewary's Ram Bhavan, revealed that when she received the confirmation that she had been locked for the show, her first reaction wasn't excitement—it was anxiety. 'When I found out I was locked in Ram Bhavan, I was extremely nervous. Serial work means continuity for years. I was unsure—what kind of people will I work with? Will bonds form? Usually, the environment in TV sets can be very negative, so I was scared,' she shared. But soon all her apprehensions turned into comfort and confidence. She said, 'From the very first day, I was supported and welcomed. That changed everything. Now, Ram Bhavan is my comfort zone. If I take even a 2–3 week break, I start missing it badly. I miss my people—my co-actors, my team. I literally tell them, 'Please call me back!'' she revealed. Her bond with the cast has grown over time, and she mentioned that she and her co-star Samiksha have discussed how rare it is. She added, 'Ram Bhavan has set a benchmark for what we'll always look for in future projects.' Srushti had been actively avoiding TV auditions and daily soaps until she decided to give it a shot with Ram Bhavan. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Saiba mais sobre as opções de habitações pré-fabricadas que oferecem flexibilidade e economia Casas pré -fabricadas | Links Patrocinados Busque agora Undo She said, 'I gave the audition and got locked the very next day. We started shooting within 23 days. Everything happened so fast, I didn't even process it fully.' Talking about her time on set, she beams with gratitude. She said, 'The experience of working on Ram Bhavan has been the best part of my acting journey so far. I don't think I'll ever get such amazing co-actors or directors again. Randeep sir and Madan sir—they've taken such good care of me. They've seen my transformation.' Her character, Ragini, is deeply rooted in traditional values. She is obedient, her family always comes first, and she is very sacrificing. And though she confessed that she was the same in real life too, playing Ragini came with its own challenges. She said, 'I play Mishkat's sister—a very obedient girl who never talks back to her family. She's fully devoted to her family, especially her brother, Om. I connect with Ragini because I was once like her too. I'm from Gorakhpur , and Ragini is from Prayagraj. I used to be the same—always obedient, always saying 'yes' to whatever the elders said. So in the beginning, it wasn't difficult to play Ragini.' 'But now, it's getting tougher mentally—because I've fought really hard not to remain that girl in real life. I wanted to learn to say 'no'—and the industry taught me that. I still struggle with it, but I've understood how important it is. Ragini is who I used to be. Srushti fought to not be her. That's why sometimes playing Ragini now becomes mentally challenging. I do it—but in my head I'm thinking, 'This isn't what I want to be anymore. ' I want to live for myself too. I want to break a few rules. How long will we keep saying 'yes' to everything? How long will we keep doing only housework?' she ended. Actor Hitanshu Jinsi, who plays Dhruv Shukla in Ram Bhavan —produced by Rahul Kumar Tewary is back in the show, and he's embracing the comeback with calm confidence. Known for his nuanced performances, Hitanshu opens up about slipping back into a character that's layered, connected, and anything but simple. 'I'm taking it one day at a time and letting the work speak'', he says, describing the return as something between comfort and discovery. 'It feels familiar, yet new.' Without giving away spoilers, the actor hints that Dhruv's re-entry shifts some key equations in the plot. What sets Dhruv apart from the roles Hitanshu has done before is the restraint. ‘Ram Bhavan' actor Khushbu Rajendra: 'A woman can be the strength behind her husband's success'

We've all seen the narrative of a man supporting his wife's educational or career goals on television and in our real lives. It's to the point that it elicits nothing more than a shrug. But ' Ram Bhavan ', starring Khushbu Rajendra as Isha and Mishkat Verma as Om, turns this trope on its head. Taking the age-old saying 'behind every successful man is a woman' to a whole new level, the show puts a spotlight on Isha as the heart of this story. She stands strong beside Om, not just as a supportive wife, but as a driving force. While Om juggles his dream of landing a government job, Isha encourages him to take up work as a Zapido driver — a step forward, no matter how small. Om isn't perfect; his laid-back attitude has kept him unemployed and underachieving. He's rough around the edges, flawed, and often at odds with his own potential. But even at his lowest, he doesn't back down from standing up to his sister-in-law Gayatri's constant jabs. What he lacks in direction, he makes up for in grit. He knows he's meant for more, he just needs a nudge and that nudge comes in the form of Isha, a woman of strength and quiet grace. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like People Aged 50-85 With No Life Insurance Could Get This Reassured Get Quote Undo Khushbu Rajendra, playing the role of Isha shares her thoughts, 'It's wonderful to be part of a story that genuinely surprises people. So often, both on-screen and in real life, we're so used to seeing men lifting the women in their lives — helping them study, pursue careers, or find their independence. And that's beautiful. But Ram Bhavan takes that familiar idea and flips it. Isha is Om's backbone. She's the silent power that pushes him to become something more. It's such a simple and subtle shift, but it sends a loud and powerful message that a woman can absolutely be the strength behind her husband's success, the wind beneath her husband's wings. She can be the one pushing, believing, and standing by him as he builds his future. For me personally, portraying Isha made me reflect on the quiet strength of the women around me, the patience they hold, the way they carry their families without asking for credit.' For Summit, the authenticity of Sunny's world is what draws viewers in, not glossy distractions. The actor also highlights the importance of evolution within a long-running narrative. 'Twists and surprises work best when they arise naturally from the character's journey.' Whether it's a family dispute or a moral challenge, each new turn adds depth to Sunny, and Summit approaches every change with thoughtful attention. 'I reflect on how he would truly feel, what his actions or silence mean, and how it aligns with his values.' Adapting to these shifts isn't always seamless. 'It's both exciting and challenging,' he admits. 'When the shift is sudden or intense, it demands recalibrating Sunny's emotional compass.' Still, he sees this as the craft's true reward. While audience reaction does bring a layer of pressure, Summit keeps his focus on emotional honesty. 'There's a responsibility when you know the audience is attached to the character,' he acknowledges, 'but if the change is grounded and truthful, I trust the viewers will follow.'
