Anyone well versed in the endless array of summer nail trends doing the rounds right now will know all about juicy Korean jelly nails, the new high-shine aura manicure, and colorful cat-eye fingertips. But if you favor a softer aesthetic, the trend to have on your radar this summer is 'milk nails.'
Destined for those who favor manicure minimalism, milk nails are the epitome of a classic 'quiet luxury' mani—milky or cream whites with a sheer or translucent finish—and have been filtering onto Instagram feeds this summer as a welcome respite from the loud neon and colorful French tips that have been circulating online.
'A much softer version of a white manicure, the milk nail manicure is a minimalist nail trend achieved by applying a semi-sheer white or pale nude polish to paint a more subtle wash of color to mimic a soft and creamy 'milky' appearance,' says Ami Streets, a session manicurist for Kure Bazaar.
Milk nails tap into growing demand for 'quiet luxury' manicures; effectively, your-nails-but-better trends that center upon glossy finishes and nude bases. 'This look has become popular because it looks super chic on any nail length. The neutral color looks clean and polished, and works perfectly as an understated shade that complements any skin tone and ensemble—it's a great effortless but elevated look,' shares Streets.
There are a number of different variations on the trend taking shape too. 'The classic milky white is the most iconic, but for a modern twist, chrome or shimmer finishes can be layered over the milky base to create a glazed or pearl-like effect (this looks gorgeous as an update to a French manicure with a milky base and glazed tip),' notes Streets. You can also add 3-D accents for a more maximalist take on the trend, or add depth using an aura finish.
First, choose your shape—almond, square, or round. Next, choose between polish, gel, or BIAB. 'To emulate the milk nail manicure at home with regular polish, I'd recommend Essie's Marshmallow or OPI's Funny Bunny (one of the classic go-to colors for this look and popular with celebrities), as they have a beautiful high-shine finish,' shares Streets.
You can also custom build your milky base. 'If you already have a favorite sheer nude or soft pink tone polish, you can always custom mix a milky base using a drop of pure white polish and adjust the opacity by applying either one or more layers for your perfect finish,' she notes. Finally, the key to nailing this manicure lies in the high-shine finish, so add a final glossy top coat.

Vanessa Hudgens' Pregnancy Announcement Also Debuted the Juiciest Manicure of Summer 2025

Vanessa Hudgens is pregnant with baby number two—but that's not all she revealed with her big Instagram announcement. On July 12, Hudgens shared that she's expecting her second baby with husband Cole Tucker, a former Major League Baseball player she met over Zoom in 2020. The couple welcomed their first child in July 2024, though the parents have yet to reveal the one-year-old's name or gender. 'Round two!!!!' Hudgens captioned a slideshow of photos with her husband, who was dressed in a white tee-shirt and grey pants. In the portraits, Hudgens wore a cream eyelet boho skirt set, leaving the tank top half-way unbuttoned to reveal her growing baby bump. Hudgens styled the breezy summer look with a stack of resin and gold bangles, a diamond belly button ring, and plenty of rings on her left hand, which she used to point towards her baby bump in the second and third photo. The images also teased her latest manicure, though her followers could only see the pinkish tone of one glossy, coffin-shaped nail in the last two images. Luckily celebrity nail artist Zola Ganzorigt came through with a closer look, who revealed the full set of 'guava glaze' nails on her own Instagram feed. In a video set to 'Sugar! Honey! Love!,' Ganzorigt revealed a multi-chromatic manicure that shifts between pink and green similar to that of the juicy tropical fruit. Though she did not share her process on Insta, Ganzorigt seemingly topping off the cat-eye nails with chrome powder to create her signature glazed finish. Congratulations are certainly in order for Vanessa Hudgens. Mostly for her pregnancy, but also for having one of the most whimsical manicures I've seen since princess nails took over everyone's FYPs. While we come to expect food and drink-inspired manicures from another one of Ganzorigt's high-profile clients, Hudgens' set just soared to the top of my summer 2025 vision board. Trump floats revoking Rosie O'Donnell's U.S. citizenship

1 of 2 | Rosie O'Donnell on Saturday dared President Donald Trump to try to revoke her citizenship after he threatened to do so on social media. File Photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo July 12 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump has suggested he might revoke actress Rosie O'Donnell's citizenship without saying what spurred the notion. O'Donnell moved to Ireland shortly before Trump was sworn in for his second term as president. Trump on Saturday morning called O'Donnell a "threat to humanity" and someone who "is not in the best interests of our great country" in a Truth Social post. The actress in March announced she moved out of the United States on Jan. 15 for political and personal reasons. "It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally as well," O'Donnell said, as reported by USA Today. "The personal is political, as we all know," she added. O'Donnell and Trump have clashed since before he first became president in 2017. The actress formerly was a co-host on "The View" from 2006 to 2007 and 2014 to 2015. She asked if Trump is "rattled again" in an Instagram post that included a photo of a much younger Trump with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide in 2019 while jailed in New York City on pedophilia-related charges. "18 years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours," she said in the post. "You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try," O'Donnell said. "I'm not yours to silence [and] never was." O'Donnell referred to herself as a "loud woman [and] a queer woman mother who tells the truth." She said she "got out of the country [before Trump] set it ablaze." "You are everything that is wrong with America," O'Donnell said. "I am everything you hate about what's still right with it."
